PROJECT MANAGER – TAMPA ELECTRIC COMPANY

Kris Stryker is currently a Senior Project Manager with

Tampa Electric Company (TEC), Energy Supply department heading up the Polk 2

Combined Cycle Expansion Project at their Polk Power Station located near Mulberry.

Kris has worked for TEC for 16 years starting as a Mechanical Engineer in the former

Independent Power Business (TECO Power Services) in 1999 and worked on design,

construction and operation of ten different power plants around the country and

internationally.

After moving over to the Tampa-based utility company, Kris held various positions

including Engineering Manager at both the Bayside and Big Bend stations before taking

the position to head up the Polk expansion project.

Kris is originally from the Tampa area and graduated from the University of Florida with

a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Four coal-fired units with a combined output of almost 1,700 megawatts

One aero-derivative unit serves as a peaking unit making the combined output from Big Bend Power Station 1,800 megawatts

Meets strict environmental regulations through the use of flue gas desulfurization systems or “scrubbers”, which remove sulfur dioxide produced when coal is burned

$300 million selective catalytic reduction (SCR) project from 2007-10, to control nitrogen oxides (NOx).

Heavy haul to project site to allow “just-in-time” deliveries and reduce double handling of large heavy components.
