What to see in Marbella Page 2
Puerto Banús MarinaMarilo Marb: Since the 70s, Marbella has had the best-known port in Spain and one of the most well known in the world,
Puerto Jose Banus, which owes its name to its promoter. In the 70s, Prince Alfonso de Hohenlohe commissioned the renowned
architect Noldi Schreck for the project of the Beach Club Hotel Marbella Club and as a result of this work, he came into contact
with D. Jose Banús, who in turn was commissioned to build an typical fishing village in the beach area of Nueva Andalucia. The
Puerto Banus has been a resort of luxury for years now, the most luxurious shops and world-renowned designers (Dior, Gucci,
Versace, Vuiton.. etc) have appeared here. You can also see the most spectacular yachts and the "beautiful people" in the bars
and restaurants. Although it has long since lost some of its original splendor, you can still see Ferraris, Lamborghinis and yachts
almost as big as the famous "Navilla" but also there are also places like Macdonalds and Chinese, blending with the luxury
brands and almost "insulting" them during these times of crisis.
Marilo Marb: Puerto Banus has two beaches. The first, in the area of Nueva Andalucia, is called Pla a del Duque, and the

3Squares
Plaza de los Naranjos
Almudena: This square is in the historic centre of
Marbella. It was built in 1485, following the conquest ofMarbella by King Ferdinand the Catholic. It was built in
imitation of the Castilian squares, though it doesn't have
arcades. It's surrounded by typical white houses and a
Renaissance fountain. The town hall is now located here, as
well as the tourist office and a lot of restaurants that make the
square very lively. The square is surrounded by orange trees,
hence the name. It's a must see.

Beaches
Nikki Beach
Gonzalo Moreno: At the height of Don Carlos hotel, thisbeach is one of the few in Marbella that's saved from the
crowds. There's a bed area and dance music playing. Many
people leave their boat in front of the beach, the music is
heard well into the sea. You have to pay to access the bed
area (although not always). This area of beds can only be
accessed by paying (not always). In short, good music, many
posh and good looking men and women, good food and
above all...a stoneless beach in Marbella.

Avenida del Mar
Marilo Marb: A few years ago, what is now Avenida delMar, used to be a small park with albero floor, benches and a
fountain that led to the Marbella promenade. Today, it has
changed its appearance adapting a more modern feel, but is
still a prelude to the sea. The avenue connects to Alameda
Park (another iconic site) with a new promenade. The floor is
marble and in the central area, there are interspersed
pergolas, fountains and a collection of sculptures designed by
Salvador Dali cast in Bonvicini bronze in Verona. There are
restaurants, bars and one of the hot spots, The Buddha Bar,
along the sides.

Playa de la Fontanilla
Wyly_fox: This is a very clean and well maintained beach.
It has free bathrooms and free showers that are also very wellmaintained. There's a great variety of bars, pubs and
restaurants along the promenade. It's relatively easy to park,
with patience and a little luck, you can find a free spot not in a
blue zone. Good atmosphere for different ages.

Marbella Old Town
naxos: Marbella, among other things, has a really
beautiful old town. It is as if someone had built a small
Andalucian whitewashed houses in a modern city. Naturally it
is just the opposite, concrete block without much taste
surrounding a well-preserved historic center. The fact is that
the old part of Marbella is a tremendously walkable place,
during the day and especially at night. When night hits, the
squares fill up, especially the Patio de los Naranjos which is
filled with terraces. Then a little later, the surrounding bars fill

8Nightclubs
Olivia Valere
Gonzalo Moreno: Some say it's a tacky, other say thatOlivia Valere is the best club in Europe. After so many years
listening to comments on this site you can't, if given the
opportunity, waste the occasion. I won't spoil it by talking
about numbers, only to tell you that I didn't pay to get in. It
really is a spectacular nightclub, striking in every way. The
decoration is based on the Alhambra in Granada, giving it a
special touch to certain parts of the club. I'm talking about
parts because the club is so big. Basically we can divide it
into three parts. The entrance area to the disco, for me the
most beautiful, the restaurant, called Babylon (I have not
eaten it) and dance area. There's a spectacular terrace where
you can smoke a hookah. It's notable because many of the
songs are performed live, yes, you heard right, the typical
house song that comes to mind is sung by a singer
accompanied by the saxes and some percussion instruments.

Parque Arroyo de La Represa
Paola Alvarez: On Monday I discovered this parkinadvertently while walking in the rain. I had planned to enjoy
a winter afternoon listening to the water supplier and
snapping ducks in the water. The location of the park and the
environment seemed ideal. I wonder how old the park is and
ve the designer was, thanks for reading.

10Shopping Malls
La Cañada Shopping Centre
Marilo Marb: Although it is best to buy in Marbella, youcan go through the streets to the center and enjoy the
atmosphere as well as the climate. Another option for a day of
shopping is to go to La Cañada shopping center, where a
problem of the city is eliminated...The car park is free as the
shopping center has ample space. inside the shopping center
there are shops of almost every fashion brand, restaurants,
tapas bars, a big chain supermarket, bowling alley, cinema,
gym, DIY shops, animal shops and terraces with bars where
you can have a soft drink while you enjoy the sun...The ever
present sun in Marbella.

Playa de Elviria
pjgarcia: Elviria Beach is close to the town of Marbella inthe province of Malaga. It's very large, very friendly and
inviting for swimming, since it's not very deep, but will still
cover you. It's well maintained and not at all crowded. Besides
myself, the last time I visited, I enjoyed the most spectacular
sunrise that I've ever seen. That's what I hope you can
appreciate from one of the photos.

Puerto Cabopino Beach & Marina
Marilo Marb: In the municipality of Marbella, forty
kilometers from Malaga airport is Puerto Cabopino, with 170
berths at Latitude: 36 ° 29 '2 "N, longitude: 004 ° 44' 4" W.
The port has services including toilets and showers, water,
electricity, telephone and internet access at the docking point,

Capilla de San Juan de Dios
Almudena: Located in the old town, in the middle of many
shops and a lively area, this chapel used to be part of theRoyal Mercy Hospital named after St. John of God. The
hospital was founded by the Catholic Monarchs in the 15th
century, although the chapel came later in the 16th century.
It's very simple and in its interior, there is a Mudejar coffered
ceiling.

12Churches
Santo Cristo del Calvario Church
Marilo Marb: After the Church of the Incarnation in
Marbella, one can say that this is the 2nd most visited churchin the city. Its style is totally different as it was built and later
blessed and opened for worship in 1976. Calvary Church was
built at the foot of the old 18th-century chapel. The building is
modern and the most remarkable of its interior are some
beautiful stained glass windows and beautiful icons. Masses
are performed every day at 19.30 h. Holidays: 10.00 h. The

Astral Cocktail Bar
Marilo Marb: If you want to feel like a corsair overlooking
the sea while sipping a delicious cocktail, you must go toAstral Cocktail Bar in Puerto Banus. From the start of the
Port, at the first entry, after the "Russian statue" you can
make you the 8 meter mast and it's white sails as this bar is is
orginial because it's designed as a sailboat. The specialty
cocktails are made with fresh juices and premium brand
liquors, and while you taste, you can also see various shows
and live music on the terrace that's full of plants and stunning
views of the Mediterranean Sea. Astral Cocktail bar opens
from noon until dawn, being an ideal place to enjoy the warm
summer nights in Marbella.

Parque de la Constitución
Marta Pilar: Framed by thick vegetation and manicuredgardens, I found a joyous and colourful playground in this
park. It has swings, various sized slides, and small houses, all
made of heat resistant material and soft edges to prevent
children from hurting themselves. In the shade of its leafy
trees, there are comfortable wrought iron benches where
adults can sit, like grandparents ve read the newspaper while
their grandchildren play. It's in the Park of the Constitution.
You can get more information from the Marbella Tourist
Office in Plaza de Los Naranjos.

15Sports-Related
Skate Park in Parque Arroyo de la
Represa
Marilo Marb: Arroyo de la Represa sports center, is in the
park of the same name, although for reasons of space and
because it's better designed for the walking through the
wooded areas than for sport. The sports center is very small,
with only two paddle courts, a tennis court and a circular track
for practicing Skater-Board and skating. This track is always
quite busy with skaters doing thousands of tricks on ramps
intended for this purpose. A good place to have fun, but the
City would have to have it more secure to prevent things such
as graffiti or non-use of the bins.
Avda Maiz Viñals, Marbella
16Cinemas
CineSur Plaza del Mar
Marilo Marb: Another option for fun in Marbella, is to go tothe Movies. Marbella has several cinemas. One is Cinesur,
located in the Centro Plaza del Mar in turn at Avenida de
Camilo José Cela. Cinesur has 8 rooms, which over the last
week projected successes of the billboard. The rooms have
different sizes, but one thing in common is the comfort of their
armchairs. Wednesday is the day of the viewer, so the ticket
price is reduced.

17Bus Stations
Marbella Bus Station
Marilo Marb: You'll find Marbella bus station in Avenidadel Trapiche. When built it was a modern, functional building,
although given the recent influx of tourism, it is now rather
small and outdated for a city like Marbella. It used to stand at
the end of Avenida Ricardo Soriano in the centre of Marbella,
but there was too much congestion from the buses coming
and going every day, so it was relocated a little bit away from
the city centre. The station has a fourteen platforms, a
shopping area, restaurant, playground, supermarket and
cafe, as well as a small waiting room. The Marbella - Malaga
line has an express bus, which takes about 45 minutes and
the fare is 6,90. Coaches link to the city center and Malaga,

☎ 952 764 400 - Av. del Trapiche, s/n, Marbella
18Beaches
Playa de la Bajadilla
Marilo Marb: This beach in Marbella has been and
continues being one of the busiest in the city, perhaps due tothe town center and also for its width and shallow waters,
making it deal for children. The beach also adjoins another
very busy beach, Cable Beach, which was named for the now
defunct wire carrying a pile where once the boats loaded the
mineral from the mines in Marbella. The sand is rather coarse
and dark, the beach is approximately 800 meters long and 50
meters wide with showers and public toilets, bins, hammocks
and parasols, maritime rescue service and first aid, as well as
lifeguards during the summer season. There are 3 beach
bars and due to the proximity to the fishing port you have the
option of eating in taverns where you can eat freshly caught
fish at a good price.
Calle San Ramón , Marbella
19Football Fields
Estadio Municipal de Marbella
Marilo Marb: Marbella boasts several sports
endowments, although it is best known for having the footballfield with natural grass where the local team plays on a
garden of crystals. Music concerts are held here too due to its
large capacity. The site also has an athletics track, with tartan
surface with five blocks and rope straight 6 375 meters, as
well as Jumping pit, dressing rooms, nursing, media room,
living, changing rooms and the offices of the UD Marbella.
Sports activities that can be practiced are football and
athletics, and hours are Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 22.00
and on Saturdays and Sundays depending on matches and
training. Being very central, a problem is parking.

Where to eat in Marbella Page 5
El Balcón de la VirgenGonzalo Moreno: If you're someone who thinks that restaurants targeting tourists are inevitably bad, then El Balcon de la
Virgen is sure to change your mind. Let me explain how to get there first: park in the parking lot at the Alameda (not too
expensive, and will save you a bit of trouble in high season). Then head up to the old town - a great walk through some really
charming streets, past the gleaming white houses. When you reach Calle Virgen de los Dolores, if you're not used to this kind of
environment, you're sure to be left open-mouthed at the beauty ahead of you. As you get closer, you'll see a sign announcing that
you've arrived at a restaurant. Of course, you think, this must be a bit of a tourist trap - its decor could hardly be anything else,
right? But the great staff and excellent menu will soon convince you otherwise. Pablo, who served us, was friendly and
welcoming, with a warm Argentinian accent. It was immediately clear to us that we'd found a person who really loves his job. The
menu is excellent. For starters we had Cantabrian anchovies, which were very good indeed, followed by a selection of seafood for
two. In fact, it was more fish than anything else - there were four prawns, but other than that, we had sea bass, sea bream and
salmon, all grilled, and EXCELLENT! We had more fish to follow. The only criticism I could possibly make is that there was

La Moraga
Marilo Marb: For tapas and enjoy the wonderful cuisine of
chef Dani García, in a more casual and a little more "fixed"price, I recommend "La Moraga Iberica". La Moraga is next to
the Hard Rock and before the Corte Ingles of Puerto Banus,
so based on these markers, it should be pretty easy to find.
The restaurant features simple décor and the style resembles
The Moraga Malaga, as it has few tables and comfortable bar
stools, a large windows to give the feeling of more
spaciousness. Normally weekends are very popular so it is
not unusual to have to wait for table. One of the waitresses
will take note and give you a time that your table can be
ready (be careful not to be away when your time is called or
you will have to wait again). Regarding the food I cannot say
anything bad about Dani Garcia, ve has a Michelin star at his
Restaurant Calima ... but if I'm honest this time I felt a little
disappointed with the spine found in a cod fritter and egg

enjoying some delicious, homemade ice cream using
traditional Italian recipes created by Santoro the ice cream

Marilo Marb: The tea house is located in one of thebusiest pedestrian streets in the old town of Marbella, leading
to the beautiful church of Santo Cristo. Set in an old house,
the tea room is decorated with images of Buddhas and exotic
accessories, with a small store to buy clothes and other
accessories. They have a varied menu of teas from around
the world, as well as smoothies and cakes. Decent prices,
despite its price tourist location, and shisha.

La Taberna del Pintxo
Almudena: The main things are hot and cold snacks. Youchoose the cold ones by going to the bar and the waiters
carry the hot ones to every table. You keep the small sticks
and at when you finish, they're counted and you pay. Prices
depend on the type of stick. It is a mixture of Basque and
southern Spain cuisine. There rations, but casseroles
skewers stand out. I think the hot ones are more worth while
because the cold oness are more normal, though no worse,
but the hot ones... It's like the sunflower seeds, once you start
you can't stop.

Sabor Ibérico
Almudena: It is a tavern-restaurant where you can order
tapas and portions off the menu, and they also have sweetand savory crepes (certainly not their specialty). It is located
right on the promenade, opposite the marina, and next to the
lighthouse. It is usually pretty full, so at first I thought it would
be nice, but it must be due to the affordable prices, as the
food is average.

La Lonja
Almudena: La Lonja is a great restaurant and, as theportions are big enough to share, you end up getting a great
value for your money. The shrimp patties are delicious, as
are squid, prawns and crayfish...in fact, everything we had
was great! It's quite a large place with a big terrace, but go
early as it's almost always full.

Taberna Casa Curro
Marilo Marb: One of the places you should not miss inyour gastronomic tour of Marbella, is the Taberna Casa
Curro. It has a great atmosphere, the tradition Andalusian
cuisine is delicious, and the products use to make the food
are top quality. The best dishes are all related to the province
of Cadiz, from Huelva there are delicious prawns, Barbate,
Chiclana rinds etc., all accompanied by the magnificent wines
from the extensive cellar. To "get" even more if it fits in the
Andalusian atmosphere, the restaurant is decorated with
bullfighting posters of songs and the background music is the
typical "flamenco". Comparing to other places, the prices here
are about average.

Hermanos Haro
Marilo Marb: This place is one of the most popular inMarbella, providing good service and quality since 1956. The
poolside snack bar is on Venus Beach (the beach is named
after the sculpture of a woman doing water skiing) and its
specialty is grilled sardines, along with an extensive menu of
seafood, paellas and typical local dishes. The clientele is
mainly local but there are also some tourists, ve are
increasingly attracted to the skewers and the beach. There
are deckchairs and a beach bar serving drinks. The average
price is usually around 25 Euros per person. It is open seven
days and they occasionally stay open through nights in the
summer for festivals(such as San Juan).

Cappuccino Marbella
Almudena: It is at the end of Hotel Meliá Don Pepegarden, right on the promenade. It's phenomenally located as
it is a fairly quiet area of Paseo. It's quite a small menu and
the quality, quality and presentation of this place is pretty
average, but it is on the terrace and when it's bad weather
there's a covered area.

Bar Diamante
Marilo Marb: Although this bar/restaurant isn't in the
centre of Marbella, it's very well-known, not only by locals butalso by Spanish and foreign tourists. In addition to a varied
menu of seafood and meat, they offer great prices and good
service. Its location is near the Marbella football pitch, off the
ring road. I recommend the "zarzuela de la casa" (you can
choose which fish or shellfish you want), and the "lagrimitas
de pollo" (strips of chicken marinated and fried). Go early at
the weekend or on holidays, because later it'll be impossible
to find a table.

Tai Pan
Gonzalo Moreno: Certainly the best Chinese restaurant
I've been to, and one of the best Asian restaurants. Book wellin advance, particularly if you're planning to go in high
season. If you call far enough ahead, you should ask for an
outdoor table (much better). Located in the Puente Romano
neighbourhood, next to the hotel, this restaurant has been
open for more than 25 years. You can't leave without trying
the Peking duck. This last time also we ordered steamed
scallops, and they were delicious. The atmosphere of the
place is 10/10. In short, it is a perfect place for a dinner with
friends, a romantic dinner or a family dinner.

Restaurante La Bartola
naxos: Fresh fish grilled on the beach. The bars on the
beach are an institution in Marbella and frankly, a greatpleasure, especially when the summer heat rages. Most are
near the old town, in the Playa de la Fontanilla and are quite
similar, with tables on the sand and fresh fish at reasonable
prices. The local specialty is the "spit" which consists of
stringing the fish (usually sardines) on a skewer and putting it
on the grill. Fast, simple and natural. And delicious :-) There
are five or six bars of this nature on the beach. I recommend
that you are simply guided by smell and choose your place on
this basis. Our noses led us to "The Bartolo" and I can say
that we left quite satisfied.

Mamma Gina
Marilo Marb: This Italian restaurant is next to the Palacio
de Ferias y Congresos (Conference Centre). Although it hasa varied menu, the best dishes are pasta, as they prepare the
fresh pasta themselves. You'll often see groups of
businessmen holding business lunches here, but it's also
popular with bachelor parties, communions, etc. The
restaurant is quite spacious, and has two terraces (one
covered), making it a great spot to enjoy not only the food but
also the weather of Marbella. They offer a daily menu with a
variety of dishes from Monday to Friday, open early until late.

Amare Marbella Beach Hotel - Adults

David Carrero: I'm not just talking about the event I went
to at the weekend and since I arrived at the hotel everyone
was kind and great facilities. Upon arrival they didn't offer a
toast with champagne, neither do we see as the most normal
thing in the world. but we liked the idea. The rooms are large
and very comfortable. Although I did unplug things for the
mac and mobile. In the morning breakfast was varied and
rich. And the room was suitable, although sometimes the wifi
was too slow. And the attention for twitter @ fuertehoteles
was unbeatable too :)) Needless to say that I more than
recommend it :)

Gran Meliá Don Pepe
BeaBurgos: The hotel, located in the heart of Golden Mileis to the left of the beach, close to the historical center and the
most popular promenade of Marbella. I love the huge pool
and gardens and one of my favorite places of the hotel is the
terrace on the sea: the Cappuccino, with jazz, lounge and
music day and night, plus free wireless interent. The hotel
has its own sun chairs on the beach, but once you see the
pool, you won't even want to go to the beach. It's one of the
most famous hotels in the Costa del Sol and this is due in
large part to its excellent service, comfortable rooms and its
facilities.

The Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa
Enma: I didn't personally know this hotel. It wasn't onethat first caught my attention since the people that usually go
there are mainly golfers or people with money and I'm not part
of either group, so it wasn't to my liking. But for different
reasons I ended up staying there and the truth is I was
enthralled, without doubt I'll go back and not that they've just
opened their spa, I'm definitely going back. Hotel rooms
Westin La Quinta are amazing, there are different categories,
I was in a so-called Deluxe Pool View and loved. On site
facilities are truly wonderful, from the magnificent reception
where exhibitors have luxury items such as handbags by
Channel or tie by Loewe to shoes and handbags, through its
three outdoor pools are huge and super quiet and ending in a
snack bar, the staff are attentive and prepare the best
cocktails in Marbella.
