ANNUAL REPORT 2017-’18

“Good, better, best. Never let it rest. 'Til your good is better and your better is

best”- St. Jerome

Mar Thoma College, Thiruvalla established in 1952, has completed an illustrious period of

sixty –five years. The beginning was so humble with just 250 students and twelve faculty

members but the past has moulded the College to become a premier centre of learning in the

area of higher education. Having obtained the unique distinction of one of the first

accredited colleges in India and the first in Kerala, the College is now gearing up for the

fourth cycle of reaccreditation. At this moment of pride and glory, we look back to

acknowledge and appreciate the pain and tears of our founding fathers particularly that of

His Grace Most Rev. Dr. Juhanon Mar Thoma Metropolitan, Rt. Rev. Dr. Mathews Mar

Athanasius Episcopa and Sri. K. K Kuruvilla. Over the years, nearly ninety eight thousand

students have gone out of the institution to find a meaningful life in the world. The College

guided by the Grace of Almighty and the aspirations of many generations is at the threshold

of innovative changes and dynamism. The College is now governed by a Council chaired by

The Manager of the College, His Grace The Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma

Metropolitan.

On this auspicious occasion of the sixty sixth College Day, may I present before this august
