1. M.A.P. THEME

The M.A.P. Board of Governors adopted “Innovative Leadership for Sustained Growth” as the M.A.P.theme for 2015. With this theme, the future of any organization will depend on the leader’s ability toinnovate, inspire and integrate to seize opportunities for sustained growth. 4.1. The ASEAN Integration Committee co-presented with the Trade, Industry and TourismCommittee the September 28 - 29 Philippine Institute of Real Estate Practitioners (PHILRES)Convention 2015 on “THE EVOLVING LANDSCAPE: Mobilizing for the Borderless Real EstateMarketplace” at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia.

4.2. The M.A.P.’s three-year preparatory program for the 2015 ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)is now on its third year. It started in 2013 with the “AEC Exchange”: an awareness-buildingexercise for members of the M.A.P. and other members of the Philippine business community.In 2014, it was appropriately themed as “AEC-Engaged” which aimed to develop and enhancethe capabilities of companies to be regional market players. For 2015, the M.A.P. conductedprograms to help make businesses more “AEC-Empowered” so they could start enjoying thebenefits of the AEC.

5.1. M.A.P. FARM BUSINESS SCHOOL PROGRAM

5.1.1. The Committee continued the M.A.P.’s Farm Business School program in partnershipwith MFI Foundation to develop a new generation of entrepreneurs in the countrysideby way of an innovative approach of learning agribusiness.

5.1.2. The courses offered by the FBS are business programs, not agriculture. But imbeddedin the curriculum are two TESDA compliant certificate courses in Horticulture NC II andAnimal Production NC II.

5.1.3. Five (5) Farm Business Schools that have been given franchise by the M.A.P. but onlyfour have been established:

5.3. SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR FUTURE AGRIPRENEURS

5.3.1. A total of 167 students have graduated and 457 were enrolled this year. They wereenrolled in the Diploma in Farm Business Management or the Diploma inEntrepreneurship (DE). The DE offers specializations in Agricultural Business, OrganicAgriculture, Eco-Farm Tourism, and Sustainable Agriculture.

5.3.2. To provide continuity and to mobilize more resources for the support of the FBSProgram, The Committee proposed the establishment of the M.A.P. Scholarship Programfor Future Agripreneurs (M.A.P. SPFA).

5.3.2.1. Funds generated for this program shall be used exclusively for the M.A.P.SPFA.

5.3.2.2. Beneficiaries shall be referred to as M.A.P. Scholars.5.3.2.3. The cost for the 2-year program including board, lodging, uniform, school

supplies amount to P240,000 per scholar.5.3.2.4. Should there be possibility for counterpart funding, such beneficiaries shall

be referred to as M.A.P.-Sponsor Scholars. On a 50:50 sharing scheme, thisamounts to P120,000 per scholar.

6.3. The Conference generated a total attendance of 467 and a net income of P1.2 Million.

The Conference was viewed simultaneously all over the country via live streaming by 4,562students (2,788 in NCR, 796 in Luzon, 563 in the Visayas and 415 in Mindanao) and 220 teachers(131 in NCR, 59 in Luzon, 8 in the Visayas and 22 in Mindanao) from 25 colleges and universities(15 in NCR, 5 in Luzon, 2 in Visayas and 3 in Mindanao).

7. CLIMATE CHANGE, DISASTER PREVENTION AND SUSTAINABILITY (CDS)(C - Cora Claudio and Alex Escaño; VC – Bernie Abis; GIC – Charlie Rufino)

7.1. Participated in the October 13 Special High-Level Dialogue on the Philippines' INDC (IntendedNationally Determined Contributions), to help limit the global temperature increase to 2degrees Celsius.

The objectives of the dialogue were:

7.1.1. To create awareness of the Philippine INDC in business and to make M.A.P. membersand other leaders in business and industry understand and appreciate the importanceof the INDC and the issues that it aims to address;

7.1.2. To elicit top-management support and participation in achieving the INDC goals

7.1.3. To encourage all to take initiatives that can help reduce greenhouse gas emissionsand present one or more current initiatives that can inspire them to do so

7.1.4. Introduce how companies may determine their carbon footprint and where help maybe obtained for sustainable development solutions.

7.2. Supported the October 23 “Philippine Business’ Responses to Climate Change and El Niño:Manila Declaration Signing and Water Alliance Launch.”

7.2.1. The responses were developed with the participation of the M.A.P. and thePhilippine Business for the Environment, Philippine Business for Social Progress,Federation of Philippine Industries, Makati Business Club, and Philippine Chamber ofCommerce and Industry.

7.2.2. The responses are initial major business responses to the continuing challengesposed by climate change and El Niño. They are also in support of the IntendedNationally Determined Contribution (INDC), the country’s contribution towards thegoal of producing a global climate change agreement at the UNFCC (United NationsFramework Convention on Climate Change) Conference of Parties' 21st Session inParis in December 2015.

7.3. The Committee organized the 2nd M.A.P. Climate Change Summit on “OCEAN SECURITY &MARINE BIODIVERSITY: Challenges & Opportunities” on November 10.

7.4. Organized the 2015 M.A.P. Art Exhibition (Painting and Photography) on “OUR BLUEENVIRONMENT” from November 10 to November 14 at the Dusit Thani Hotel.

7.4.1. This is a fund-raising project of the Committee for its two EMERGE projects -- the"Seaweed Project for a Blue Economy in Mindoro Occidental" and the "CassavaProject for a Green Economy" in the M.A.P. Aeta GK Village in Bamban, Tarlac.

Again, using prefabricated steel bridges for fast completion, construction ofthe long missing C-3 bridge link from Makati to Mandaluyong and another to linkBonifacio Global City to an appropriate location in Capitolyo, will greatly dispersevehicular traffic to relief congestion.

29.1.10. Resolve issues and fast track other mass transit systems

29.1.10.1. Resolve all issues related to the linking of MRT3 to LRT1 and theimplementation of the LRT1 extension to Cavite;

29.1.10.2. Roll out the LRT2 extension line from Santolan, Marikina to MasinagMarket with an intermodal terminus station for convenient and safeinterconnection with other modes of transport, and provide a park-and-ride facility to encourage commuters to take public transit instead ofdriving their cars into the city;

29.1.10.3. Quickly decide on and rollout an appropriate surface mass transit systemto complement the MRT3 on EDSA. The government must choose the mostappropriate transit option among many, such as Bus Rapid Transit (BRT),long-bus train, large capacity articulated city commuter buses or railtram.

Fast track implementation of the MM north and south commuter rail,including the provision of city intermodal terminals and at outlying townsand cities as a means to promote the development of satellite towns andcities to decongest MM. Include park-and-ride facility to encouragemotorists to use public transit.
