dimensions of multi-layers and multidisciplines. As a Research and
Publication Division, it endeavors to place the arts within the integral
framework of a cultural system, combining the textual with the oral,
the visual with the aural and theory with practice.
University of Kashmir, Srinagar The University of Kashmir offers programmes in all the major
faculties: Arts, Business & Management Studies, Education, Law,
Applied Sciences & Technology, Biological Sciences, Physical &
Material Sciences, Social Sciences, Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering,
Oriental Learning and Music & Fine Arts. Post Graduate
Department of Persian is putting in its best efforts for bringing to
light the Persian works from various rich collections. The State of
Jammu and Kashmir has a rich treasure of manuscripts preserved in
its various collections. The manuscripts written during the pre -
Islamic era are in Sanskrit language and the script is mainly Sarada.
The post- Islamic period manuscripts were written mainly in Persian
and Arabic. All these collections encompassing various subjects
require a better attention. The faculty of the Department of Persian is
engaged in research, editing and translation of these literary pearls
for the benefit of posterity.
