Kalakosa Division undertakes fundamental research and investigates the intellectual traditions in their dimensions of multi-layers and multidisciplines. As a Research and Publication Division, it endeavors to place the arts within the integral framework of a cultural system, combining the textual with the oral, the visual with the aural and theory with practice. University of Kashmir, Srinagar The University of Kashmir offers programmes in all the major faculties: Arts, Business & Management Studies, Education, Law, Applied Sciences & Technology, Biological Sciences, Physical & Material Sciences, Social Sciences, Medicine, Dentistry, Engineering, Oriental Learning and Music & Fine Arts. Post Graduate Department of Persian is putting in its best efforts for bringing to light the Persian works from various rich collections. The State of Jammu and Kashmir has a rich treasure of manuscripts preserved in its various collections. The manuscripts written during the pre - Islamic era are in Sanskrit language and the script is mainly Sarada. The post- Islamic period manuscripts were written mainly in Persian and Arabic. All these collections encompassing various subjects require a better attention.
