Querido/a Estudiante,

Tenemos el placer de darte la bienvenida a la Universidad de Sevilla, un lugar donde pasarás mucho tiempo en los próximos años y donde esperamos que te desarrolles en lo personal y adquieras los conocimientos para tu desarrollo profesional. Con este objetivo hemos trabajado para poder ofrecerte este manual de acogida, donde podrás encontrar información esencial para comenzar tu andadura.

Ya eres miembro de una institución con más de cinco siglos de historia, de acreditada tradición académica y que ha sido reconocida como Campus de Excelencia Internacional. Nuestra comunidad universitaria la integran más de ochenta mil personas, entre alumnos, profesores y profesionales de administración y servicios, lo que nos convierte en la segunda universidad española en número de

estudiantes y la primera de Andalucía. No en vano, contamos con un completo catálogo de titulaciones, además de ser un motor destacado en investigación, cultura y transferencia de conocimiento. Somos, en definitiva, una de las universidades más completas de España y un claro referente en investigación, desarrollo e innovación (I+D+i).

La Universidad de Sevilla está integrada en la ciudad. Los 25 centros docentes donde se imparten nuestras titulaciones se encuentran desplegados en varias zonas urbanas, contribuyendo a la vertebración de la capital andaluza. Un campus que cuenta con múltiples y diversas instalaciones para la investigación, el deporte y la cultura y con un valioso patrimonio histórico artístico que te invitamos a descubrir al tiempo que exploras la ciudad.

En este manual te mostramos los que pueden resultarte más útiles en este momento inicial de tu trayectoria universitaria.

En tu CentroTu Facultad o Escuela está dirigida por un equipo de profesores encabezado por el Decano (Facultad) o Director (Escuela). Cada miembro del equipo tiene responsabilidades distintas, pero siempre habrá un Vicedecano o Subdirector que se ocupe de los asuntos que afectan a los estudiantes.

La Secretaría de tu Centro será tu referente para plantear cualquier duda que tengas sobre tu matrícula y expediente académico.

Puedes dirigirte a la Conserjería (se encuentra a la entrada del edificio) para preguntar por la ubicación de cualquier aula, laboratorio o servicio de tu Centro.

Próximo a la entrada encontrarás al dinamizador de tu Centro, estudiante como tú, al que podrás consultar cualquier duda sobre los servicios y actividades del propio Centro y te orien-tará sobre cómo acceder al resto de servicios que te ofrece la Universidad.

También encontrarás ayuda en la Delegación de Alumnos, donde podrás localizar a los repre-sentantes de los estudiantes de tu Centro.

En el marco de su Plan de Orientación y Acción Tutorial (POAT), la mayoría de los Centros cuentan con un programa de estudiantes mentores (que te acompañarán durante los prime-ros cursos) y de profesores tutores (que te asesorarán durante tus estudios). Normalmente es el Vicedecano o Subdirector que se ocupa de los estudiantes quien coordina el POAT.

Además, tu Centro posee una web con información relevante que te aconsejamos visitar.

En el Vicerrectorado de EstudiantesEl equipo de gobierno de la US está formado por el Rector y un equipo de Vicerrectores, de los cuales uno se encarga de todos los asuntos que conciernen al estudiante. El Vicerrectorado de Estudiantes tiene su sede en la planta semisótano del Pabellón de Brasil (Paseo de las Delicias, s/n).

Aquí podrás dirigirte para realizar consultas sobre: la oferta de estudios, el acceso a las dife-rentes titulaciones oficiales, las becas del MECD y becas propias de la Universidad, la gestiónde los títulos o cualquier otra consulta relacionada con tu paso por la US.

En el CADUSEl Consejo de Alumnos de la Universidad es el máximo órgano de representación estudiantily está compuesto por todas las Delegaciones de Alumnos de los Centros. Su misión es velarpor los intereses del alumnado dentro de la Universidad y ante otros organismos de ámbito autonómico o estatal. En los Servicios CentralesMuchos profesionales en la US trabajan para que puedas disponer de todo lo que precises: uncompleto catálogo de libros y publicaciones en apoyo a tus estudios (Biblioteca), alojamientoy comedores universitarios con menús saludables a precio asequible (Servicio de Asistencia a la Comunidad Universitaria -SACU-), salas de estudio 24 horas (Vicerrectorado de Estu-diantes), prácticas en empresas (Servicio de Prácticas en Empresas y Empleo -SPEE-), be-cas de movilidad nacional e internacional (Centro Internacional), una amplia oferta cultural (Centro de Iniciativas Culturales -CICUS-) y deportiva (Servicio de Actividades Deportivas -SADUS-), información sobre las actividades que se organizan en la US (Boletín Interno de Noticias -BINUS-) y muchos otros servicios que encontrarás más detallados en la Guía de Estudiantes (guiadeestudiantes.us.es) o consultando el directorio de servicios en el portal de la US (us.es/acerca/directorio)

On-lineA cualquier hora, desde cualquier lugar, podrás plantear tus dudas a través del Centro de Atención a Estudiantes (CAT), desde donde los expertos de la US responderán tus consultas,con carácter general, en un plazo máximo de 48 horas.

La plataforma de Enseñanza Virtual de la Universidad de Sevilla está diseñada para apoyar la docencia presencial por medio de recursos tecnológicos propios de la formación online.Estos medios facilitan el acceso de los estudiantes a los contenidos y materiales formativosde las distintas enseñanzas en cualquier momento e independientemente del lugar en que seencuentren.

Ten en cuenta que no todas las asignaturas en las que te has matriculado tienen que apareceren tu “lista de cursos”, ya que depende de que hayan sido dadas de alta por el profesor en la plataforma.

Los ficheros enviados a Webprint están disponibles durante una semanadurante la cual podrás acudir a cualquier copistería de las listadas en la sección Centros de Reprografía e imprimir tu documento fácilmente.

Dado que la Universidad de Sevilla pertenece a la red Eduroam, los usuarios de la misma, además de acceder a la red wifi de la US, pueden acceder a las redes inalámbricas de otras or-ganizaciones Eduroam (la mayoría de las universidades y centros de investigación españolesy otras/os muchas/os extranjeras/os), usando su UVUS. La primera vez que vayas a conectar-te debes configurar tu equipo o dispositivo móvil siguiendo las indicaciones que encontrarásen la siguiente URL: eduroam.us.es Para las siguientes conexiones, la configuración quedaráguardada y sólo deberás indicar tu usuario y clave (UVUS).

En la Sede electrónica de la US podrás acceder a procedimientos y servicios destinados a losestudiantes; de especial ayuda te resultará la posibilidad de solicitar becas y ayudas, presen-tar una solicitud mediante registro telemático o solicitar una bicicleta en préstamo. Ten en cuenta que para algunos de estos procedimientos necesitarás identificarte con tu UVUS y para otros será necesario tu certificado digital o DNI electrónico.

RIO El Carné de la Universidad de Sevilla es una tarjeta inteligente que te acredita como miembro

de la Comunidad Universitaria. Contiene un chip donde están grabados tus datos identifica-tivos, protegidos por un código secreto (PIN) que sólo tú conoces.

¿Cómo lo obtengo?

sevius.us.esLa ruta a seguir dentro de SEVIUS es Mi perfil > Carné universitario.

¿Para qué sirve?

• Como carné de Biblioteca. Para el préstamo de libros tendrás que identificarte con tu carné en el mostrador de la Biblioteca o en sus terminales de autopréstamo. También podrás solicitar en préstamo un portátil.

• Para acceder a las aulas de informática de los Centros universitarios. En algunas de ellas los ordenadores cuentan con lectores de tarjeta chip y un programa de acceso que requeri-rá el PIN de tu carné para que puedas utilizarlo.

• Para acceder al Servicio de Actividades Deportivas de la Universidad de Sevilla (SADUS).Si te abonas al SADUS, allí codificarán tu carné para que entres y salgas con él de las ins-talaciones.

• Junto a la puerta de entrada de las Salas de Estudio, encontrarás lectores de carné que te permitirán el acceso a ellas fuera del horario de apertura general.

• También, junto a las barreras de entrada a los aparcamientos y en las puertas de las zonas reservadas a motos y bicicletas, hay unos lectores del carné que te permitirán su uso (ten en cuenta que algunos aparcamientos requieren autorización).

Además, con tu carné podrás utilizar los Puntos de Información Universitaria (P.I.U.), que son terminales electrónicos de consulta ubicados en los Centros de la Universidad, que te permiten realizar operaciones de consulta a través de SEVIUS. También podrás alojar en tu carné tu firma digital y podrás utilizarlo para identificarte en las empresas que realizan ofer-tas especiales a los estudiantes de la universidad.

¿Cómo?Desde la plataforma de enseñanza virtual, con tu Usuario virtual de la US. Podrás descargartetodos los materiales en tu ordenador en cualquier momento en la página web del curso.bib.us.es/cursos_orientacion

¿Dónde?¡En cualquier sitio! Sólo necesitas disponer de un ordenador con acceso a Internet para poder entrar en la plataforma de la Universidad de Sevilla. Pincha en enseñanza virtual (ev us.es) para acceder a ella.

¿Qué aprenderé?• Las técnicas de estudio más eficaces.• Los servicios informáticos que te ofrece la Universidad de Sevilla: cómo acceder a ellos,

software disponible, recursos que puedes encontrar en la red, cómo adquirir tu identidad digital.

• Y además, aprenderás a buscar y localizar la información útil para tus trabajos de clase, a evaluarla y a respetar los derechos de autor, citando las fuentes y estableciendo “tu privaci-dad” en la red. La Biblioteca no tendrá secretos para ti.

¿Cómo consigo mi crédito ECTS del Curso de Orientación al Estudio?Los estudiantes de nuevo ingreso en titulaciones de grado que hayan superado el curso COE y realizado la encuesta de satisfacción recibirán un mensaje a mediados de julio y, a partir de septiembre, podrán recoger su acreditación, y si así lo desean, solicitar su crédito en aquellas titulaciones que así lo permitan. APROVECHA LOS RECURSOSQUE LA UNIVERSIDAD TE OFRECE

PORTAL DE BECAS Y AYUDAS

Consulta regularmente el Portal de Becas y Ayudas de la US y el Portal CAT (Etapa “Durante los Estudios”, Sección Becas y Ayudas) ¡Y no dejes pasar la posibilidad de solicitar las becas y ayudas!

Para ayudarte en tus estudios, tanto el Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deportes como la propia Universidad de Sevilla ofertan una serie de ayudas que puede solicitar el alumnado universitario.

En este Portal se pone a disposición de los estudiantes y egresados de la Universidad de Se-villa información sobre todas las becas y ayudas a las que pueden acceder:us.es/estudios/becasyayudas/index.html

AYUDAS AL ESTUDIOCon objeto de promover la igualdad de oportunidades en el ámbito de la educación universi-taria la Universidad de Sevilla oferta un amplio programa de ayudas propias.

ASISTENCIALESPara paliar las distintas circunstancias adversas o sobrevenidas en las que puede encon-trarse un estudiante, la Universidad de Sevilla ofrece diversas ayudas de carácter social y asistencial.

FORMACIÓNA fin de ofrecer a los estudiantes formación complementaria a sus titulaciones, la Universi-dad de Sevilla convoca becas de formación para realizar prácticas formativas en sus Servi-cios Centrales (para optar a las mismas será necesario que hayas superado al menos el 25% de los créditos de tu plan de estudios).

MOVILIDADLas becas de movilidad te dan la posibilidad de cursar parte de tus estudios en otra Universi-dad española o extranjera o de realizar prácticas en otros países mediante convenio.

CULTURALES Y DEPORTIVASEl propósito de estas becas o ayudas es fomentar el desarrollo de iniciativas culturales y apoyar la realización de actividades deportivas.

PREMIOS Y DISTINCIONESLa Universidad de Sevilla con la finalidad de reconocer e incentivar la excelen-ciaen el estudio de su alumnado, concede una serie de premios y distinciones, tales como los premios extraordinarios Fin de Carrera o los de Doctorado, Pre-mio a la Mejor Nota de Admisión, entre otros.

CONSIGUE TU ACREDITACIÓNDE IDIOMASLa necesitarás para obtener tu título de Grado y para poder disfrutar las becas de movilidad internacional.

institutodeidiomas.us.es¡NO LO DEJES PARA EL FINAL!La acreditación del nivel B1, como mínimo, de una lengua extranjera es imprescindible para graduarte. Si no estás acreditado al final de tus estudios, no podrás obtener el título de Grado.Para acreditar tu nivel en una lengua extranjera, será necesario que presentes en el Instituto de Idiomas (IDI) el certificado que poseas y, si no lo tienes, podrás realizar los cursos im-partidos en el IDI o realizar sus pruebas de acreditación. Debes planificarte con tiempo, es recomendable que consigas tu acreditación lo antes posible.

MOVILIDAD NACIONAL / INTERNACIONALCENTRO INTERNACIONAL

¿Quieres realizar parte de tus estudios universitarios en otra Universidad española o en otro país?

SERVICIOS DE APOYO AL ESTUDIO

Biblioteca universitaria

La biblioteca de la Universidad de Sevilla cuenta con diecisiete puntos de servicio repartidos por los distintos campus y posee gran cantidad de recursos para el estudio, entre ellos:

• Acceso a su colección bibliográfica (con más de 2.000.000 de libros y 30.000 revistas en formato impreso o digital) mediante el catálogo Fama (fama.us.es).

• Préstamo de hasta 7 documentos (libros, dvd, portátiles, e-books, revistas, etc…) con posibi-lidad de renovación y/o reserva.

• Información, orientación y cursos para aprender a gestionar la información y los recursos bibliográficos.

• Reserva de salas de trabajo en grupo.

Muchos de estos servicios se ofertan de manera virtual y todos de manera presencial, con un horario de apertura de lunes a viernes de 8 a 21 h. Además, todos los sábados lectivos abre una Biblioteca de 9 a 21 h (en períodos de evaluación abren cinco).

¿Conoces los comedores universitarios?

La Universidad de Sevilla cuenta con comedores repartidos por los Campus Universitarios que ofrecen menús saludables.

Préstamo de bicicletas

Para desplazarte hasta tu Centro la Universidad de Sevilla te facilita bicicletas en préstamos mediante el Sistema Integral de la Bicicleta de la Universidad de Sevilla (SIBUS). Atención a estudiantes con discapacidad

El SACU posee una unidad de asesoramiento y asistencia técnica a estudiantes con disca-pacidad y pone en marcha proyectos de apoyo a los mismos. Contacta con la unidad si estás interesado en colaborar.

Bolsa del libro usado

La Bolsa del Libro Usado del SACU permite a todos los interesados la compra y venta de ma-nuales o libros relacionados con estudios universitarios.

Intercambio Lingüístico / Language Exchange

El programa de Intercambio Lingüístico es un instrumento que se ofrece desde el SACU para facilitar la comunicación a los universitarios españoles y extranjeros, con el fin de promover elintercambio cultural y lingüístico. Se fomenta el “encuentro” entre universitarios españoles y extranjeros, para practicar idiomas y/o ampliar los conocimientos sobre la lengua, la sociedad y la cultura de otros países.

SERVICIOS DEPORTIVOS

El Servicio de Actividades Deportivas de la Universidad de Sevilla (SADUS) ofrece a toda la Comunidad Universitaria una completa gama de posibilidades para practicar deporte a todos los niveles y con un amplio horario.

Como estudiante de la US podrás abonarte y hacer uso de las instalaciones deportivas.

Con tu carné podrás acceder a servicios como las competiciones universitarias, abonos depor-te (con actividades en piscina, fitness y otros), cursos deportivos, sala de estudios, bicicleterocerrado, etc.

El Centro de Iniciativas Culturales de nuestra Universidad es un referente dentro de la ciudad. Además presta apoyo a las Aulas de Cultura de los Centros universitarios y contribuye a la difu-sión del patrimonio artístico de la Universidad.

El objetivo del Secretariado de prácticas en Empresa y Empleo es facilitar la conexión entre los es-tudiantes de la US, de Grado y Máster, y los recién egresados con el mundo laboral. Podrás realizar:

Dear Student,

We are pleased to welcome you to the University of Seville, a place where you will spend a lot of time in the upcoming years and where we hope that you acquire the knowledge for your professional and personal development. With this objective in mind, we have created this host manual where you can find essential information to start your journey.

You are now a member of an institution with more than five centuries of history, of accredited academic tradition and that has been recognized as a Campus of International Excellence. Our university community is made up of more than eighty thousand people, including students, professors and professionals of administration and services, which, in terms of enrolment, makes us the second largest university in Spain and the largest in Andalusia. Not surprisingly, we have a complete catalog of degrees, as well as being a leader in research, culture and knowledge transfer. We are, in short, one of the most complete universities in Spain and a benchmark in research, development and innovation (R + D + i).

The University of Seville is integrated in the city. The 25 educational centers where our degrees are taught are deployed in several urban areas, contributing to the integration of the Andalusian capital. In your centerYour Faculty or School is headed by a team of professors headed by the Dean (Faculty) or Director (School). Each member of the team has different responsibilities, but there will always be a Deputy Dean or Assistant Principal who deals with issues that affect students.

If any doubts shall arise regarding your enrollment or academic record, the Secretariat of your center will be your reference to solve them.

You can go to the Concierge (located at the entrance of the building) to ask for the location of any classroom, laboratory or service offered by your Center.

Near the entrance you will find the promoter of your Center, a student like you, to whom you can consult any doubts about the services and activities of the Center itself. They will also guide you on how to access the other services offered by the University.

In addition, you can find help in the Student Delegation, where you will be able to locate the representatives of the students of your Center.

Within the framework of the Guidance and Tutorial Action Plan (POAT), most of the Centers have a mentor student program (to accompany you during the first courses) and tutors (who will advise you during your studies). It is usually the Vice-Dean or Assistant Principal who deal with the students who coordinate the POAT.

In addition, your Center has a website with relevant information that we advise you to visit.

In the Vice-Rector for StudentsThe US government team is composed of the Rector and a team of Vice-rectors, of whom one is in charge of all matters that concern the student. The Vice-Rectorate of Students has its headquarters in the semi-basement floor of the Pavilion of Brazil (Paseo de las Delicias, s / n).

In the CADUSThe Student Council of the University (CADUS) is the highest body of student representation and is composed of all the Student Delegations of the Centers. Its mission is to look after the interests of students within the University as well as before other autonomous or state bodies. You can address the delegates of the CADUS in the Pavilion of Uruguay (Avda. De Chile, s / n)

The Virtual Teaching platform of the University of Seville is designed to support face-to-face teaching through technological resources of online training. These means facilitate the ac-cess of students to the contents and training materials of various teaching methods at any time and regardless of where they are.

Note that not all of the subjects you have enrolled in have to appear on your “course list”, as it depends on whether they have been registered by the professor on the platform.

ARD The Certificate of the University of Seville is a smart card that accredits you as a member of

the University Community. It contains a chip where your informational data is stored, protec-ted by a secret code (PIN) that only you know.

How do I get it?

What is it for?

As a library card. In order to check out books, you will have to identify yourself with your card at the library desk or at the self-loan terminals. You can also borrow a laptop.

• To access the computer labs of the university centers. In some of them, computers have chip card readers and an access program that will require the PIN of your card so that you can use it.

• To access the Sports Activities Service of the University of Seville (SADUS). If you subscribe to the SADUS, your card will be required to enter the facilities.

• Next to the entrance door of the Study Rooms, you will find card readers that will allow you access to them outside the general operationg hours.

• Also, there are card readers that will allow you to open gates to parking lots and doors of areas reserved for motorcycles and bicycles. (Please note that some car parks require au-thorization).

In addition, with your card you can use the University Information Points (P.I.U.), which are electronic consultation terminals located in the University Centers, which allow you to carry out consultation operations through SEVIUS. You can also place your digital signature on your card and you can use it to identify yourself in companies that make special offers to students of the university.

When?You can take the course any time you want, from October to June.

Where?Anywhere! You only need to have a computer with Internet access to enter the platform of the University of Seville. Click on virtual teaching (ev.us.es) to access it.

What will I learn?• The most effective study techniques.• The computer services offered by the University of Seville: how to access them, software

available, resources you can find on the net, and how to acquire your digital identity.• In addition, you will learn to find and locate useful information for your classwork, to eva-

luate it and avoid plagiarism, citing sources and establishing “your privacy” on the network. The Library will have no secrets for you.

How do I get my ECTS credit for the Study Guidance Course?New students entering undergraduate degrees who have passed the COE course and conduc-ted the satisfaction survey will receive a message in mid-July and, from September, will be able to pick up their accreditation, and if they so wish, apply their credit to their degree. To help you in your studies, both the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports and the Univer-sity of Seville offer a series of grants that can be requested by university students.

STUDY AIDIn order to promote equal opportunities in the field of university education, the University of Seville offers an extensive assistance program of its own.

ASSISTANTSIn order to alleviate the different adverse circumstances or events in which a student may find themselves in, the University of Seville offers assistance for the social and general well being of the student.

TRAININGIn order to offer students complementary training to their degrees, the University of Seville calls for grants to carry out training in their Central Services (to qualify for these grants, it is necessary that you will have surpassed at least 25% of the credits of your Curriculum).


CAT PORTAL

MOBILITYMobility grants allow you to take part of your studies in another Spanish or foreign university or to practice in other countries through an agreement.

CULTURAL AND SPORTSThe purpose of these grants is to encourage the development of cultural initiatives and su-pport the performance of recreational activities.

AWARDS AND DISTINCTIONSThe University of Seville, with the purpose of recognizing and encouraging ex-cellence in the study of its students, grants a series of awards and distinctions, such as the extraordinary prizes for the end of your undergarduate or doctorate degrees or prizes for the best admission scores, along with others.

GET YOUR LANGUAGE ACCREDITATIONYou will need it to obtain your degree and to enjoy international mobility scholarships.

institutodeidiomas.us.esDO NOT LEAVE IT FOR THE END!Accreditation of at least a B1 level of a foreign language is essential for graduation. If you are not accredited at the end of your studies, you will not be able to obtain your degree. To accredit your level in a foreign language, it will be necessary that you present your certificate at the Institute of Languages (IDI). If you do not have it, you will be able to take the courses taught at IDI or perform your accreditation tests. You have to plan ahead of time; it is advisable that you get your accreditation as soon as possible.

STUDY SUPPORT SERVICES

University Library

The library of the University of Seville has seventeen service points distributed across the diffe-rent campuses and has a large amount of resources for study, including:

• Access to its bibliographic collection (with more than 2,000,000 books and 30,000 journals in printed or digital form) through the Fama catalog (fama.us.es).• Loan of up to 7 documents (books, dvd, laptops, e-books, magazines, etc ...) with possibility of renewal and / or reservation.• Information, orientation and courses to learn how to manage information and bibliographic resources.• Group work reservation.

Many of these services are offered virtually and all of them are offered in person, hours from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. In addition, every Saturday, a Library will open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. (in evaluation periods, five libraries will be open).

Language Exchange

The Language Exchange program is an instrument offered from SACU to facilitate communica-tion between Spanish and foreign university students, in order to promote cultural and linguis-tic exchange. It encourages the “Encounter” between Spanish and foreign university students by practicing languages and / or expanding knowledge about the language, society and culture of other countries.

Extracurricular InternshipsOffered by companies and institutions. They are not part of your curriculum.
