    Sherfield English is a small scattered village that lies between the Test valley and the New Forest on the old Romsey to Salisbury road. For its size it has a surprising range of services and facilities with a village hall, shop and post office, sports field, nursery, fishing lakes, tea rooms, the Hatchett Inn, a garage and St Leonards church. The village has easy access to the two cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester and the commercial centre of Southampton, all having train services to London and elsewhere in the country.     The Property

    Manor Farmhouse is an absolutely classic early 18th century Grade II Listed farmhouse, altered in the 19th century, with a symmetrical brick front and sash and casement windows under a clay tiled roof. With its front south-facing, the accommodation is perfectly proportioned, typical of its era with good ceiling heights, extends to some 3305 sq ft, and is laid out over three floors plus a cellar. An extensive programme of restoration was carried out about ten years ago and much of the inherent character and architectural detailing has been carefully retained. A panelled front door opens into an oak floored entrance hall. On either side, the oak floor continues into the two main reception rooms, the drawing room which has a fireplace and wood burning stove, and the dining room which has an inglenook fireplace. Off the inner hall there is a study and the kitchen/breakfast room which has pine fronted units, granite worktops, Aga, hob, shelved larder and terracotta tiled floor. Also off this hall there is a utility/boot room, with various fitted units, space for white goods and a cloakroom. The tanked cellar has been converted into a children’s sitting room/play room and has two electric heaters. On the first floor are the three main bedrooms and two bathrooms, one is en suite to the principal bedroom.     Outside The house is approached off a charming quiet narrow country lane, lined with trees and agricultural land on either side. A gateway gives access to a gravel drive which provides ample parking and turning space. There is a modern 3-bay barn style building comprises a double open fronted garage with a lockable store at the back of one and a stable currently used as a workshop.
