CONTROLLING MASSIvE FOREST FIRE
CYCLONE HUDUD
Prime forests near Vishakapatnam were engulfed by forest fires in November 2014. IAF deployed four MI-17 V5 helicopters with Bambi Buckets to douse the fire. Each of these buckets can carry upto 3,500 liters of water. nearly 1,00,000 liters of water was sprinkled to put out the fire.
A very severe cyclonic storm ‘Hudud’ swept through the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and odisha wreaking havoc. the Armed forces moved in swiftly to provide relief and minimize the effects of the cyclone.
