Lakeshore Aviation is proud to operate its business at the Manitowoc County Airport, provid-ing services to pilots and their aircraft. We opened our doors January 1, 2005 and are now inour 8th year of operation. Like many businesses, we were impacted by the recent economicdownturn, but have survived it, coming out stronger and more prepared for growth than ever.We were honored to receive the 2011 Aviation Business of the Year Award from the Wiscon-sin Aviation Trades Association, and were recently nominated for the Chamber of CommerceSmall Business Award.
We are presently undertaking a major marketing effort to expand business/corporate aviationin conjunction with internships from LTC. We currently operate one twin-engine aircraft on ourAir Charter certificate, and plan to have 3 planes by the end of this year. With that, we will behiring additional pilots and support personnel as this area expands. Commercial Air Charteris very closely governed by the FAA with stringent operational standards and inspections toprovide the highest level of safety for passengers.
Our flight school has also been very busy, and we have gained a reputation as one of the bestin this part of the state. Our experienced staff works with pilots of all levels, from beginningstudents to advanced skills. Our seaplane program is the only full-time operation in Wisconsinand Illinois, and attracts students from all over the world. And our flight instructors now teacha Private Pilot Ground School at LTC, an evening class which starts March 20th this spring.
We have a small staff of 9, but have an impressive amount of experience. All together, ourstaff has over 143 years of experience in the aviation field. We currently have a permanentpart-time opening to join our talented line service staff. See our website for more information.

It carries walk-behind lawn mowers on up through commercial-grade lawn equipment.Snapper is also the Pasek’s brand of choice for snow removal equipment, which ranges fromsingle stage throwers to two-stage blowers. Going GreenNot intending a pun, the roots of today’s Hartman’s Towne & CountryGreenhouse date back to the mid 1960s, when the business started asa hobby greenhouse. This hobby soon attracted the interest of otherswho were interested in flower and vegetable transplants for their owngardens. The good word apparently spread, and in 1985 Hartman’s built a facilityat its current location on Nagle Avenue and today has an immense45,000 square feet of greenhouse space.Spring is prime time at the greenhouse, sporting a wide and ever-changing variety of flowers and vegetables for yard and garden.Summer and fall bring customers looking for perennials, mums, and ornamental kale, and the holidays burst into a colorful array ofpoinsettias, wreaths, and outdoor evergreen arrangements.Hartman’s prides itself on quality, home-grown plant material, and itsability to offer expert advice and outstanding customer service.

At just 800 square feet, Inspire Book & Gift would be categorized as a small shop. But, ownerAmy Blanchard and her mom, Sue Leschke, have found it to be just their size. As soon as you step insideyou’ll notice that every available space has been taken over by some sort of fun, unusual, pretty or justplain funky piece(funky as in the two-piece Buddha canvases). This quaint cottage-style building and itscontents are reminiscent of the shops in Door County. Their merchandise is changed out and added to ona regular basis. The goal is to maintain a very friendly and inviting atmosphere for all customers.
Most items in the shop would fit in three categories, Home Décor, Accessories and Gifts. A short listof the store’s inventory would include such items as mirrors, lamps, wall art, jewelry, watches, scarves, candles, vases, floral and seasonal items. Gift wrapping and gift baskets are also available on request.
While shopping at the buyer’s market, suggestions and ideas from customers are always brought along. They may have a particular item in mind that they haven’t had success in locating. Inspire also lovesto make house calls. If a customer needs advice on size, shape and color as to what might work in acertain area of their home, they will gladly stop over and offer suggestions. During the past few months the store has decided to donate the balance of its used books tocharity. Doing so has created the extra space required to display a growing gift inventory.Since the store no longer carries books, it is in the process of selecting a name thatbetter reflects what the shop is all about. If anyone has a suggestion or ideaconcerning the name change, Amy and Sue would love to hear from you! Call553-8890 or stop in at the shop. If your idea is used, you’ll receive a freegift card.

The Medicine Shoppe, 1500 Washington Street, Two Rivers, is in itssecond wave of local ownership.
In 2011, Marv and Joylyn Moore purchased the pharmacy from Brianand Barb Jensen, who opened the store in 1992. All are local residentsheavily involved in the community.
Since taking over, the Moores have invested in the business, adding asecond checkout, expanding the pharmacist counseling area, and addingadditional staff (currently at 23 employees).
One of the pharmacy’smost popular offerings is the Smart Fill program. This program automatically refills prescriptions without having to callthem in. If needed, Medicine Shoppe will call a patient’s physician forauthorization, and will call the patient when the order is ready for pickup.
Another useful service Medicine Shoppe offers is bubble packing ofmedications, whether they be prescription or over the counter. These color-coded packs make it easy to take the right medications at the right time ofthe day, every day. This helps patients take their medications appropriately, and also assists caregivers in proper medication administration.
According to Marv Moore, “We take the time to get to know ourpatients and answer their questions, and help them get the most out ofthe medications they take.” The staff constantly looks for ways to savetheir patients money, such as tablet splitting, generic drug substitution, orpurchasing in larger quantities through the store’s One Price Plan.
Community involvement is something the Moore’s are very proudof. Their pharmacists and staff serve the community through Two RiversKiwanis Club, Rotary Club, Two Rivers Main Street, and Friends of PointBeach, and the store sponsors many local events. “Money spent at theMedicine Shoppe stays in the community,” Marv says, “and is used to helpmake the lakeshore area a great place to live.”

DO YOU KNOW WHAT PREVENTATIVE DENTISTRY REALLY MEANS?Mishicot Dental provides patients with comprehensive care that goes far beyond just getting your teeth cleaned every 6 months.
Over the past few years, you may have heard about the links between bacteria found in your mouth and heart disease. We takethis very seriously at Mishicot Dental.
It is important to inform your dentist about any health changes or medications and vitamins you are taking. Health issues andmedications can have a negative effect on your teeth and we want to help you understand and care for your teeth before seriousissues occur.
Mishicot Dental even checks your blood pressure at each visit. Knowing your blood pressure is important because it can say a lotabout your health and how it may relate to proper dental care.
A common, serious issue is periodontal disease, which affects the soft tissue that supports your teeth. This disease does notalways cause pain. Over time this infection can cause the bone around your teeth to recede, causing your teeth to become looseand eventually they will need to be removed. Prevention and earlydetection is key, and our team is always on the lookout for it.
Oral cancer is a serious disease. Mishicot Dental’s team of Doctorsand hygienists are trained to screen for this disease by checking forlumps or any tissue abnormalities.
Most importantly, our team is trained to educate our patient’s ontheir risk of getting tooth decay. CAMBRA is a screening put out bythe ADA to assist dental teams in helping patients understand dietand lifestyle choices that may be putting them at risk for gettingcavities. We can give our patient’s advice on different products thatmay fit better for their lifestyle to help prevent tooth decay.
Routine dental care visits are important to your overall health.Mishicot Dental’s approach teaches patients how to better care notonly for their teeth but the entire body!

Over eleven years ago, Manitowoc Heating and Refrigeration Services was startedby Terry and Dawn Welnicke to better serve customers in the Manitowoc County area. Their goalwas to build a customer base by providing excellent service, affordable prices and dependableproducts with a sense of hometown trust.
Thanks to loyal customers and a dedicated staff, the business has grown into aleading HVAC-R contractor in the area. We have worked on many major new construction,
commercial and residential projects throughout thearea. We service the refrigeration needs of manyrestaurants, bars and convenience stores.
In 2007, to better serve our customers,we moved into our present location at 211 N10th Street. With a larger building we were ableto increase our parts inventory and sheet metalfabrication. A showroom was added to display ourfireplaces, pellet stoves and furnaces.
Manitowoc Heating and Refrigerationrecently acquired Jindra Plumbing and Heating andadded several of their employees to our staff. This increased our service and installation capacity, providing a better response time andservice level for our customers. As a “Best of Manitowoc County” winner for the past three years, we work hard every day to maintainthat level of service and trust for all of our customers.
As a company, we operate our business in a professional, ethical and customer-friendly manner. You can count on straight-forward solutions for your home and business. We provide free estimates for replacement or new installations. No pressure—just theanswers you need to make an informed decision. You can depend on us—we are here for you 24 hours a day for your emergencyneeds.

Welcome to Quality Aire, Inc. the area leaderfor indoor air quality. We offer air ductcleaning and dryer vent cleaning services toManitowoc and Sheboygan Counties.
Dirty air ducts and dryer vents can poseserious health and fire hazards, as well assubstantially impact energy efficiency. Leftneglected, air duct build-up circulates moredust, pollen, animal hair, microbes and othercontaminants into breathable air inside.Likewise, dryer vent build-up reduces air flow, causes overheating, and is a common causeof fires. These conditions can strain yourHVAC and dryer vent systems, causing themto work harder and lose energy efficiency.
We live in a world where healthy living hasbecome a way of life. We diet and exerciseto make ourselves feel better. Yet the mostoverlooked issue is the air that we breathe. The Environmental Protection Agency claimsthat indoor air has been found to be morepolluted than outdoor air. Now consider onan average people spend 90% of their timeindoors……The facts can be quite alarming.

A message from Jerry Mallmann.Owner of Chilton Furniture and The Bedding Express
There’s something about doing business in a small town that is special. Not onlyfor the customer, but also for the business owner. I’ve been in the Retail HomeFurnishings business for 32 years in the same small town. Over the years, we’veestablished a lot of friendships with our customers. They have come know thatto us, they’re not just another number. We have had the luxury of being able getto know many of them on a very personal level. In many cases, even havingvisited their homes for consultations. Establishing such close relationships withour clients allows us to serve them better. They begin to understand that ourgoal is to help them with the selection that best solves their problem or servestheir needs. Not what is best for our bottom line. Establishing trust is of theutmost importance. As a retail businessman, I know that our customers have alot of options for where they can spend their money. There are big Box storesall around us. There arepeople screaming on TVbegging for your money. So how do we competewith that? We compete by
providing a level of service that the “Big Box” guys are too big to offer. Personal oneon one service. No High Pressure Sales People. No Customer service dept. from ahundred miles away. If you’ve got a problem, you get to talk to real people. Even theowner if you want to. That’s the way we’ve gotten where we are. And that’s the way wewill continue. So whether you are looking to do some major redecorating with Furniture, flooring and Custom window treatments at our Chilton Furniture location, or if you aresimply looking to get the best nights sleep ever from our new Bedding Express MattressStore, You can be confident that we’ll help you make the right choice. And the kicker isthat it won’t cost you any more than at the “Big Box” store down the road!

As the Baby boom begins turning 65, we enter our own sixthdecade and, like most who reach a new mile stone, look backto contemplate where we have been. Aging well means beingadaptive to new challenges and applying the wisdom gainedover the years. And, in considering where we have been, wealso take a greater interest in our future.
In 1951, Local attorney Fred G. Dicke saw a need for acommunity-run retirement home along with a remarkableopportunity when the county built a new health care centervacating the old county mental hospital. With a group ofcommunity leaders, he formed a local board under the nameShady Lane, Inc. and converted the former hospital into aretirement home.
By 1971, changes in health care trends andtechnology made it clear that the old buildingwas no longer suitable. It was razed andin its place a new four-story building, nowhome to Shady Lane Nursing Care Center
was constructed. Finally in 1993, Shady Lane purchased theentire complex with its extensive, manicured grounds from thecounty and added Laurel Grove Assisted Living along with thegardens.
Sixty-one years after our founding, we continue to evolve.Challenging health care demands have been met with theaddition of private rooms, suites and apartments, satellitekitchens and meaningful activities for residents. We havepartnered with HFM Rehab Services as a provider of therapyat our facility and February saw the opening of an on-site HFMClinic. As a not-for-profit organization, we are committed toproving quality at a reasonable cost.
Today, our board of directors continues to be comprisedof local leaders to whom we are ever grateful for their
leadership, love of our community, and especiallytheir vision. They listen to the community, understand the needs and take action tomeet them.
