Brandwag Social Housing Project: 328 of 1051 rental housiing units are complete. The project is currently underway. Botshabelo -Thaba Nchu New City Nodes: • R 4.6 million has been spent to acquire 8 land parcels for the development of Botshabelo-Thaba Nchu New City Node. • R 4 million will be spent this financial year to acquire 886Ha to promote sustainable human settlements. Grassland 4 (Khayelitsha): R10 million rands spent to acquire Thirty (30) agricultural small-holdings for formalisation of Khayelitsha. Bloemside (Phase 7): R3 million spent to acquire five small holdings for formalisation of Sonderwater. R2 million spent to acquire four small holdings for formalisation. Cemeteries: R8 million spent to acquire 10 hectares of land acquired for new places of burials. ROADS REHABILITATION A number of roads were refurbished and rehabilitated to extend their life-span. These include: • R 34 million spent on Raymond Mhlaba Road (2.2km) formerly Andries Pretorius in Bloemfontein. • R 22.3 million spent on Hanger Harvey Street (2.9km) in Bloemfontein. • R 9.2 million spent on Church Street (478m) in Bloemfontein. • R 11.3 million spent on Hokatho Vaphi/Leepile Road (1.1km) in Mafora. • R 3.6 million spent on Bot Road 1055 (502m) in Section V, Botshabelo. • R 8 million spent on Zim, Dlabu and Makholoawe Streets (2,5km) in Phahameng. SANITATION SERVICES 214 952 households have access to toilet facilities. Bloemfontein: • 4300 stands in Freedom Square received waterborne sanitation. The project amounted to R65 million. Thaba Nchu: • 230 stands in Bultfontein received waterborne sanitation (project completed). • 130 stands in Moroka received waterborne sanitation (project completed). 498 VIP toilets eradicated in Seroalo. The project is continuing. Botshabelo 295 formal stands in Section F received waterborne sanitation. WATER • 219 000 of households have access to functioning basic water supply. • 158 740 households provided with a basic level of potable water above the RDP Standards. R66 milion spent in upgrading Maselspoort Water Treatment Works. • 45 Million Litres Longridge Reservoir complete. It will supply water to Vista Park 2&3, Hillside View, Rocklands and Grassland. • 35 Million Litres Naval Hill Reservoir complete. It will supply water in town, the new airport node and the Estoire area. • Botshabelo Reservoir: work has commenced. The reservoir will supply water in Section F and F extension. • 174 760 households have access to electricity.• 6704 households/ervens have been electrified with capital grants leveraged from the Integrated National Electrification Grant.• 107 high mast lights have been installed in the MMM.

SOCIAL UPLIFTMENT & YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

38 870 indigent households provided with the following basket of services on a monthly basis:• 10 Kilo litres of Free Basic Water• 50 kwh of Free Basic Electricity• Free Basic Sanitation• Exemption from paying rates and taxes

• 4004 jobs were created as a result of the following programmes: – Roads Rehabilitation; Sidewalks Rejuvenation – Airport Development Node; Parking Meter Marshall System – Batho Greening Project; Hlwekisa Motjha Cleaning Campaign;

• Currently training 25 youth in Furniture Manufacturing & Repair through Etsose Batjha Project, which is a partnership between Mangaung and the City of Ghent in Belgium.• 20 youth are volunteering and receiving a stipend at the youth centres in the three regions of Mangaung.

SAFETY & LAW ENFORCEMENT

• School Safety Programme Initiated.• Visibility of traffic law enforcement improved.• Number of fatalities at initiation schools significantly reduced.

CLEAN ENVIRONMENT

• R3.8 million was spent on recycling bins to improve waste management and increase promote recycling of litter and waste.• The City has embarked on a series of cleaning campaigns including removal of illegal dumping sites.• The sidewalks rejuvenation project has created a pedestrian friendly city and facilitated easier movement and access for people with disabilities.

RURAL DEVELOPMENT & FOOD SECURITY

The city is currently implementing a number of projects in support of rural development.

The following enterprises were fenced:• Chicken Feed Production, Chicken Abattoir, Broilers, Stock-farming in Lakeview, Bloemfontein.• 3 Piggeries in Martindale, Bloemfontein.• 2 Cattle Farms in Thaba Nchu.

• Repairing of windmills in Moroto, Gladstone and Khomo Villages, Thaba Nchu.

RECREATIONAL FACILITIES

The following recreational facilities are complete:

• R10 million was spent to upgrade FS Athletics Track.• Botshabelo, Heidedal and Mangaung Swimming Pools.• Kido Choene Park in Heidedal.

• R20 million is being spent to develop sporting facilities, with bias towards Botshabelo and Thaba Nchu.

The planned Thaba Nchu Regional Park along Seroalo Dam will have various amenities including

conservation and recreation areas, community facilities and empowerment projects.

Naval Hill will soon boast a restaurant which will contribute to the city’s economy.

The recently completed Naval Hill Reservoir will provide water services to over 45 000 households in

Bloemfontein and unlock development in the city.

ELECTRICITY PROVISION

The City is implementing the following projects:• Upgrading Billy Murison Stadium.• Upgrading Selosesha stadium, Thaba Nchu swimming pool and Botshabelo stadium. • Community Hall in Section N, Botshabelo is 90% complete.• Work commenced on Freedom Square Sports Centre, Grassland Multipurpose Centre, and Johnson Bendile Stadium.
