My Brothers, first I would like to say how proud I
am to be a member of Manatee Lodge # 31. It is
my home and yours. We have been struggling
with sickness, distress, and building issues as of
late but we must remember we are Manatee Lodge
# 31 which is the shining star of our district in my
heart and mind. It means the world to me to see
those among us step up to do what is necessary in
troubled times. The dedication of each Brother is
truly impressive and I can’t thank all of you
enough. When the chips are down in my life I
have always been able to turn to a Brother for a
hand, a listening ear, and a warm and full heart of
compassion and fraternity. It’s an amazing feeling
to know you are never alone in this world. That
said, you only get out of Freemasonry what you
put into it. Only you can determine the time and
energy you can put in but I guarantee it is returned
ten fold. I encourage you to come to the Lodge,
participate in the degrees however you can, attend
meetings, and spread the light of Freemasonry lib-
erally amongst the newer Brothers like myself.
We are young and hungry to learn. I encourage
the young and hungry to come out and help on
work days and save an old man’s back. Together
we are what we cannot be alone. I hope we can all
remember that. It’s been my honor to serve
Brother Dobbs and all of you as your Senior
Steward.
Fraternally, Brody Catt
Sr. Steward

SICKNESS AND DISTRESS
. Brothers All,
It is with a heavy heart that I must report the passing of Bro. Stan early this morning. On my last visit to him two days
ago, I could not help but note that virtually every available space in his room at Hospice was filled with cards, letters, and
flowers. This meant so much to Stan, as did the steady flow of visits by so many of his Brothers during his last days. But, Stan also
often spoke about being with Betty soon, and he left this world at peace eagerly looking forward to that reunion.
Stan loved and truly understood our great Fraternity in a way many desire, but few achieve. He was a rare blessing for all
of us, and truly made every Brother he touched a better person for having had the privilege of knowing him. No man could wish or
receive a better epitaph. To say that he will be missed would be more than an understatement.
Funeral arrangements are pending.

Win An Annual Membership!
Raffle tickets are on sale at the Tylers station at every
Stated or Called meeting of Manatee Lodge. 50 tickets will
be sold at $2.00 each, and then a drawing for that batch of 50
tickets will be the same evening if it is a Stated Communica-
tion, or if it is a Called Communication, the drawing will be
held at the next Stated Meeting. Prize is a certificate re-
deemable for the following year’s dues ($80.00 value). For
example, tickets currently being sold are for 2015 dues, and
ongoing raffles for 2015 dues will continue until dues notices
for 2015 are mailed out in October of 2014. After that date
raffles will continue, but will be for certificates redeemable
for 2016 dues. In addition, because of the low value of each
ticket, records of individual sales will not be maintained as in
the Perpetual Membership raffles. Therefore, the winning
ticket holder must present his stub to win. If he cannot pro-
duce the ticket stub after the drawing or within 30 days of
publication of the winning ticket number in the Trestle Board,
the drawn ticket will be considered void, and a new ticket
will be drawn from that same batch.

Should anyone hear of a Brother or family member in sickness or distress, please don’t hesitate to contact our
Chaplain at or any other Lodge Officer.
Want to serve on a committee? The Chaplain is looking for some Brothers who can serve on a visitation committee.
Sometimes a visit to a shut-in or sick Brother is better than medicine! See our Chaplain if you can spare a little time to help out.
Brothers, I'm sad to announce our brother Ed Kief-fer, our lodge chef, has moved to Ocala Fl. he will be greatly missed in the kitchen cooking the dinners. Ed's atten-dance will be missed as a brother in our lodge. In a short period time Ed has con-tributed a lot to Manatee 31 from putting out great meals in the kitchen at low cost to working with the brothers on Lodge cleanup days. Ed will be missed by all at Manatee 31, we were looking to recognize him in the upcoming months for his contri-bution to the lodge. We just ran out of time before his move. Brothers, Ed is a good man and Mason, and is well over due to be recognized for all of his contribu-tions to the lodge. Let us all pray for him in his travels and let it be known that we will miss him and his works. Fraternally Doug Dobbs
