Adapted Aquatics (Ages 5-18) We have designed a swimming program for individ-uals with special needs to be able to learn water safety, swim techniques and to feel comfortable in the water. Each participant must have an aid (or parent) in the water with them during the lesson. Aids can be provided at no additional charge if arranged with the Aquatics Manager in advance. Thank you, Catherine, for the Memories

Page 47: Manassas Park Community Center's Fall Winter 2015-2016 MOSAIC

www.ManassasParkCommunityCenter.com • 703.335.8872 45

To many, Catherine was a guiding star.

She shone brightest when she served her com-munity. It was that light that compelled the people around her to give their best every day. She be-lieved every dream was attainable and never once said any ambition was too ambitious especially when it was a goal to benefit others.

On June 24, 2015 her light dimmed as she was taken from us. We wept. We wept because we wondered how we could continue to move forward without our beacon of hope to protect us. Yet, once we looked inside ourselves and meditated on our memories of Catherine, we each realized that we all contained a small part of her light within us. Individually the glow warms us, but when we work together, serve together, shine together the glow becomes radiant illuminating the way and we can see our purpose before us.

To honor her memory and her dedication to the community, the City of Manassas Park is dedicat-ing this issue of the MOSAIC to Catherine. In addition, with the generous cooperation of QMT Windchimes, the Catherine’s Caring Hands Schol-arship will soon be launched. This scholarship will be available for patrons who are in need of the opportunity to participate in the programs offered by the Community Center. As somebody who fer-vently lived her life for the service of others this is truly a fitting legacy.

Thank you Catherine for everything that you’ve done. Your colleagues, your staff, your friends, your community, your city and everybody you’ve touched over the years will continue to pass on the light you’ve given to us. Continue to inspire us as we walk forward forever guided by your caring hands.
