Perceptual Challenge:
What is this a photograph of?
Trajectory Plotting…
Where is this all going?
Essentials for Building and Managing, Change in Educational ICT Programming
Charting the Course…
Making the Plan…
For building change.
Whopen Questions: NOT necessarily in this order….)
Why?
When?
How?
Are we doing?
Are we doing this?
What?
Are we planning to?

Learning from others:Some lessons in ICT programs from other schools
SOME ESSENTIALS FOR SUCESS:
• NEEDS assessment is very important to determine program structure and development.
• LEADERSHIP must lead; be involved and model all initiatives
• PDP and related support models must be coordinated, facilitated to ensure buy-in, integration and adoption.
• TIME for (true) planning and collaboration a factor in program success
• ALL Learning Community stakeholders members; staff, students, families must be represented
• PROGRESSIVE LEANRING environments must be fomented, and modeled to gain commitment from the risk-adverse -otherwise inertia rules...
Learning from others:Some ICT Instructional models in use at schools
CONVENTIONAL
ICT a specialist field
PROGRESSIVE -TRANSITIONAL
ICT supports, and is facilitated in all fields, including ICT classes
SHIFTED, 21ST CENTURY
ICT embedded into all fields no formal "ICT" or "computer class"
ACCESSIBILITY LEVELS
ICT access always available
"Experts" instruct and facilitate use of ICT
All teachers teach and facilitate use of ICT
All community members, students, teachers, model and facilitate instruction and use of ICT
ICT access in various campus hot spots: classrooms,
stand alone ICT Instruction in computer Lab
ICT instructed, used in Labs and classrooms
ICT instructed, used ubiquitously
ICT access in Lab, library
traditional "specials" class scheduling
Open or "flexi" scheduling with lab & classroom facilitator sessions
ICT integrated into entire schedule, may include include comp. sci or media classes in labs
ICT access limited to resource availability
Learning from others:Some lessons in ICT programs from other schools
SOME SUCESSFUL WORKING FORMULAS: • Allow / assign ownership of roles in initiatives e.g., FT vs. PT
tech facilitators, integrators, coaches
• Approach supporting change via building relationships: mentorships, partnerships, teams
• Build leadership capacity throughout the school community by grade levels, depts. “laptop reps”, student junior tech support
• Assess formatively, and consistently, to determine changes, effectiveness
• Create, develop multiple learning, support, PD modalities, opportunities, relief teacher periods, tutorial, lesson, bank, monthly tech tips,
• Step by step transitions may be more effective for some schools
