About RambollRamboll is a leading engineering, design and consultancy company employing close to 9,000 experts and with a signifi cant presence in Northern Europe, Russia, India and the Middle East. Ramboll Oil & Gas has a superior reputation for providing safety and reliability engineering services for the oil and gas industry worldwide.

RAMBOLL OIL & GAS DELIVERS A FULL SUITE OF RISK ASSESSMENTS AND SAFE DESIGNS FOR ALL TYPES OF ONSHORE AND OFFSHORE PROJECTS WITHIN THE PETRO-CHEMICAL INDUSTRY.

Safety is a key concern on all on-shore and o shore installations. At Ramboll we are working with management of risk and safety as an integral part of our service portfolio. We provide our services as part of engineering and design projects and as independent third party reviews of projects and in-stallations. We perform our assess-ments and prepare designs for all types of onshore and o shore projects.

Inherently safe design

The implementation of inherently safe design in our engineering projects is a part of our technical

safety or loss prevention service portfolio. The key principle within technical safety is to minimize the risk for the personnel working at the installation.

An inherently safe design is achieved by close interaction and integration between the engineer-ing team and the risk and safety team allowing for an iterative process whereby the risk level is continuously managed.

Risk assessments and safety cases

Successful design or operation of a petrochemical facility implies that risks must be identifi ed and managed. Ramboll provides risk assessments for all types of pro-jects and existing facilities suited to the needs of our client and the specifi cities of the facility, be it onshore or o shore.

In any given project, risk assess-ment is closely interlinked with the design process to identify poten-tial hazards and mitigate them by introducing mitigation measures to ensure that an acceptable or ALARP risk level is achieved.

Hazard identifi cation

A valuable input to safe design and risk assessments is the identifi ca-tion and mitigation of hazards.

Our risk and safety specialists have a proven track record of conduct-ing hazard identifi cation and miti-gation sessions such as:

• HAZID• HAZOP• SIL/LOPA• ALARP

Introduction of barriers is one way of mitigating a hazard. The barrier can then be associated with a per-formance indicator to monitor the operational safety of the installa-tion.

RAM analysis

The availability or uptime of a facility is of utmost importance to the facility owner. Our expert team quantifi es the performance of an entire facility or a sub-system in terms of:

• Reliability• Availability• Maintainability

The RAM analysis is an iterative process through which critIcal components, failure modes (FMEA) and processes are identifi ed and optimisation of design is suggested for both new and existing facilities.

HSE management

Management of Health, Safety and Environment is about managing risks to personnel, environment, production and the reputation. This is important for both new projects and existing installations.

Requirements and legislation di er from country to country, but due to our strong local presence in many countries, Ramboll is able to

consequences of the identifi ed hazards and the e ect of barri-ers or other mitigation measures introduced.

Ramboll performs advanced con-sequence modelling utilising state of the art software such as

• FLACS for fi re and explosion loads
