Introduction

One of the greatest contributions of India to the world is Holy Geeta.

It is the part of the Epic Mahabharata.“Srimad bhagvad Geeta” it literally means “song of the

lord/bhagvan”.It is the song of god sung by sri krishna to arjuna as a

counseling to do his duty in the battlefield of kurukshetra.

Arjuna got mentally depressed when he saw his relatives in the battlefield with whom he has to fight.

Management

Management is the process of aligning people & getting them committed to work effectively and efficiently for a common goal to the maximum benefit of society .

Management is a continuing process involving the principles of : Planning, organizing , influencing, controlling & decision making.

The general principles of effective management applies in every field

Bhagvad Geeta & Management

The critical question in all manager’s mind is how to be effective in their job.

The answer to this is found in the Bhagvad Geeta, which says that ‘you must try to manage yourself’.

The western approach to management focuses in exploring the external world of matter and energy.

The bhagvad Geeta’s approach to management focuses on exploring the inner world of the self.

Managers can understand from Geeta the Organizational Behavior in terms of employee’s individual behavior, group performance and its environment.

Utilization of available resourcesThe first lesson of management is to choose wisely &

utilize scarce resources optimallyDuring the curtain raiser before the Mahabharata

war, Duryodhana chose Sri Krishna’s large army for his help while Arjuna selected Sri Krishna’s Wisdom for his support.

It gives us a clue about the nature of the effective manager, the former chose numbers, the later, wisdom.
