Join us, each month, for our 6.30pm Choral Evensong at Malmesbury Abbey, which brings together some of the most beautiful choral music ever written, the timeless liturgy of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer and the Shakespearean English of the King James Version of the Bible. Choral Evensong in 2016, now on the fourth Sunday of the month, will feature choral masterpieces such as Handel’s Zadok the Priest and Haydn’s The Heavens are Telling alongside inspiring newer works by contemporary composers such as Stephen Paulus and Ola Gjielo. Additionally, throughout the year the Abbey Choir will be featuring the music of 16th century Spanish polyphonist, Tomás Luis de Victoria. Two new developments for 2016. A Wessex Evensong on October 23rd marking the reigns of King Alfred the Great and his grandson King Athelstan, whose tomb is in the North Aisle of the Abbey. And Thursday Sung Eucharist at 7.30pm on three major Christian festivals: Maundy Thursday, Ascension Day & the Feast of St Michael and all Angels.
