• Sweden's third largest city
• The city's population has grown 29 years in a row
• In 2013, the population increased by 5,200 people
• Out of just over 318 000 inhabitants, half are under 35
and 20 % under 18 years
• In the year 2021 Malmö is expected to pass 350 000
inhabitants
• In the year 2025 Malmö is expected to pass 375 000
inhabitants.

• 31 % of the city's inhabitants are foreign born
• 45 % has a foreign origin – parents born abroad
• 177 nationalities are represented
• Over 150 different languages are spoken in the city
• We teach mother tounge to more than14 000 students
in 50 different langauges.

institutions in order to make
high goal attainment possible
for all of Malmö’s pupils
(regardless of gender).
