Why use a Mako-Lube Spray System?• Continuous or pulse spray provides precise automatic oil application during production• Replaces manual application of graphite/oil mixture during scheduled shutdown period.• Clean – no graphite build up on chain to clean• Environmentally acceptable with synthetic/ food grade oil. No V.O.C.• Eliminates fire hazards• Return on investment – Improves chain life 2-3 times.• Industry improvement – Synthetic, high temperature, and food grade lubricants are becoming the industry standard.

Typical cost of production time. One 8 hour shift to clean graphite lubricated chain plus 1 hour cool down & 1 hour start up.

Graphite oil must be applied on a weekly schedule. Actual cleaning of chain requires kerosene and hammer to

loosen baked on graphite. Chain replacement, typically £15,000 or more. Normal chain

life is one year. Bakers are requesting 3 year chain warranty. Chain replacement labour cost. One 8 hour shift, 3 or 4

maintenance technicians. Dangerous. The combination of Kerosene based lubricating

solution with high heat can cause fires. Environmental Issues. Unacceptable V.O.C.’s (Volatile Organic

Compounds.

Past PracticeTunnel Oven Chain Oil

Increased production time. Shutdown to lubricate not required. Automated method eliminates cool down and cleaning.

Mako-Lube oils applied during production are NSF Registered

Chain life cycle increased 50% or more. Chain replacement cost reduced 50% or more. Dangerous fire hazard eliminated. Improved environment.

Typical cost of lubrication time. One hour daily to manually apply synthetic oil.

Chain replacement, typically £15,000 or more. Normal chain life is one year. Bakers are requesting 3 year chain warranty.

Chain replacement labor cost. One 8 hour shift, 3 or 4 maintenance technicians.

Chain replacement downtime cost. One 8 hour shift annually.

Dangerous. Manual lubrication while oven is in production. Environmental Issues. Unacceptable V.O.C.’s (Volatile

Organic Compounds) if petroleum base oils used.

Case Study

Page 21: Mako -Lube

How should an oven chain look?

Synthetic:This chain has been lubricated with HT Chain Oil Plus for over three years.

Graphite:This chain has severe carbon build up from lubricating with graphite. Over 30% of the rollers were locked from graphite. After applying synthetic lubricant, amperage significantly decreased and all rollers were rotating. (Picture taken 6 hours after converting from graphite to synthetic.

Mako-Lube HT Chain Oil Plus

• Usage: 15 Litres lubricant per week• (2 Litres per day per oven)• Purchases: One Drum every 16 weeks (4 months) per oven• Lubricant Savings: 66%

Previous Lubricant

• Usage: 100 Litres lubricant per week per oven• (15 Litres per day per oven)• Purchased one drum every 3 weeks per oven

COST SAVINGS £20,000 PER OVEN, PER YEAR ON OIL ALONE

Past practice utilised graphite with oil or a solvent base applied during shutdown. A short run period after application flashed off the base solvents or oils. Production operation then relied on the remaining graphite to provide lubrication during production periods.

Mako-Lube only supply synthetic oils that perform better than typical petroleum base brands. Synthetics may be applied during production without any adverse effects. Typical temperature flash point is 300°C. Our synthetic oils are acceptable for use in food grade environments & NSF Registered as H1.
