Agenda:
What is the purpose of Audits?

Validate use, cost and unit cost
compared to historical bills
Identify incorrect line items
Review many bills with little manual

EnergyCAP Online (ECO) Audits
Redesign in 2012 provided:
More intuitive audit interface
Improved flexibility
Faster audit results
Well defined audit results status
(Problem, Re-Audit pass/fail,
Ignored)
![Page 6: Making the Most of EnergyCAP Audits](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042816/55984e211a28ab3c6d8b480e/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)

ECO Audits (continued)
Audit groups have filters limiting which
bills will be audited
Billing data is queried based on each
audit within the group, then audits are
run against the data
![Page 7: Making the Most of EnergyCAP Audits](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042816/55984e211a28ab3c6d8b480e/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)

ECO Audits (continued)
Managed using the enhanced bill list
views (filter by audit group, cost, etc.)
Re-auditing corrected bill problems
automatically sets status to fixed
![Page 8: Making the Most of EnergyCAP Audits](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042816/55984e211a28ab3c6d8b480e/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)

Which audits are right for me?
![Page 9: Making the Most of EnergyCAP Audits](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042816/55984e211a28ab3c6d8b480e/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)

Questions to ask before viewing the
audit list and creating audit groups:
Is EnergyCAP the front end of my bill
payment system?
Do we have business rules that will
dictate which audits we need to run?
![Page 10: Making the Most of EnergyCAP Audits](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042816/55984e211a28ab3c6d8b480e/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)

Questions to ask before viewing the
audit list and creating audit groups:
Who will have responsibility to audit,
review, and approve bills?
Do I want to run the same types of
audits on all bills (even those <$50)?
![Page 11: Making the Most of EnergyCAP Audits](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042816/55984e211a28ab3c6d8b480e/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)

Recommended ECO Audits:
ECO audits are divided into five
categories: Bill, Usage, Cost, Date,
and Demand audits
There are 27 recommended audits that
are automatically placed into the
Default Group within ECO

What is the purpose of an Audit
Group?
You can think of Audit Groups like
creating a folder to contain specific
audits that you want to execute
together
![Page 17: Making the Most of EnergyCAP Audits](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042816/55984e211a28ab3c6d8b480e/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)

Is there a limit to the number of
audits I can assign to a group?
No. However, if you run too many
audits you will get too many results
![Page 18: Making the Most of EnergyCAP Audits](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042816/55984e211a28ab3c6d8b480e/html5/thumbnails/18.jpg)

Strategies for Creating Audit Groups:
1. Create the same groups but filter for
different cost ranges and adjusting the
variances of the audits accordingly
(tighter for higher cost bills).
![Page 19: Making the Most of EnergyCAP Audits](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042816/55984e211a28ab3c6d8b480e/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)

Strategies for Creating Audit Groups:
2. By vendor where you’re only looking
for known/expected issues that might
occur and not looking for conditions
that won’t occur.
![Page 20: Making the Most of EnergyCAP Audits](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042816/55984e211a28ab3c6d8b480e/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)

Strategies for Creating Audit Groups:
3. By commodity where you can set
specific high and low unit cost
exceptions values.

Audit Variances
and Severity Settings
![Page 24: Making the Most of EnergyCAP Audits](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042816/55984e211a28ab3c6d8b480e/html5/thumbnails/24.jpg)

Audit Variances:
Variance is the percentage change of two values (ex: 20% increase in use)
All audits have a default variance
Variance values can be edited for each audit in a given group
Modifying the variance in one group does not affect the variance for the same audit in another group
![Page 25: Making the Most of EnergyCAP Audits](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042816/55984e211a28ab3c6d8b480e/html5/thumbnails/25.jpg)
©2013 EnergyCAP, Inc. @energycap www.EnergyCAP.com
Severity Settings:
Every audit has a severity setting for
when the audit fails
Severity is part of the bill problem
message
Pass, Low, Moderate, Severe, Fail,
and Export Hold
![Page 26: Making the Most of EnergyCAP Audits](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042816/55984e211a28ab3c6d8b480e/html5/thumbnails/26.jpg)

ECO Audit results:
Can be viewed in Bills with Problem
Flags within Bill Processing
Can be filtered for and sorted by a
variety of fields (cost, severity, vendor,
commodity, etc.)
