Hashtag Creation 101
1. Take inventory of current hashtags utilized on
Twitter/Instagram
2. Set criteria for this new hashtag

• Simple/Intuitive
• Employee-Driven
3. Collect ideas from various stakeholders – host a

4. Vote on top options; Review with corp comms

Recommendations as you start getting social
Start Small – test the waters and gain insights before executing on large scale
Give them 15 seconds of fame – use a social wall in classroom to encourage posting
Best In Show – emphasize & show case best class examples with new contributors
Assign ambassadors – select key social mavens that will get the social activity started
Upskill all facilitators – train on proper messaging when introducing and setting the stage
Wary of the heavy hand – social should be encouraged not mandatory
Quantity breeds low quality – eliminate “prize for most” to keep quality high
Provide options – not everyone will want to participate every time or on every platform
