back to the community they serve and to assist Austin Police Officers during family emergencies.

Our Charity Partners for 2012 When selecting charitable organizations to support one of the key factors that our Austin Cops for Charities Board of Trustees consider is are they community based. And do they share common interests that we in the

law enforcement community support, such as after school programs that help keep children safe, institutions that help educate our youth to be better citizens and organizations that help improve the quality of life for

families who have been traumatized by abuse and neglect. Austin Cops for Charities Board of Trustees are proud to announce our 2012 charity partners who shared our vision of working together for a better

community. We wish all of them great success and are grateful to each and every one of them for continuing every day to make a difference in our local communities.

Supporting Our Austin Police Officers Along with supporting community based charitable organizations, Austin Cops for Charities also provides aid and emergency support to our fellow Austin Police Officers and

their families in times of emergency needs. On April 6, 2012 APD Officer Jaime Padron was shot to death while attempting to arrest a shoplifting suspect at a local Austin

Walmart. He was the father of two daughters, Ariana Michelle and Olivia Faye Padron. As the news started making it’s way to our law enforcement communities, Austin

Cops for Charities Board of Trustees immediately set up a Jaime Padron Memorial Fund that fellow officers and community supporters could donate to and help support

Officer Padron’s family. On June 27, 2012 Austin Cops for Charities announced to Officer Padron’s family that over $42,000.00 had been raised and that the funds would be

transferred to a managed trust fund that their mother Amy Padron had established for their daughters.

On September 23, 2012 Austin Cops for Charities hosted a golf tournament to assist Officer Padron’s family and fellow officers in attending the 2013 National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C. where the name

of Austin Police Officer Jaime Patron’s name will be carved on the walls of the memorial. Over $12,000.00 was raised and Austin Cops for Charities Board of Trustees would like to extend our gratitude and thank you to APD

Officers Hank Aguilar and Johnny Washington who helped organize the benefit.

All of us on the Austin Cops for Charities Board of Trustees were fortunate enough to know and work with Officer Padron. He was a contributing member of Austin Cops for Charities

and a serving Board member on the Austin Police Association's Board of Directors. His leadership and passion for improving the lives of everyone he encountered is a testament to

his impeccable character. Thank you to everyone who supported and helped during both of these fundraising events in support of Officer Pardons' family and friends.

The Tucker Family

Padron Family

(Jaime, Amy, Ariana & Olivia) 2012 also brought our board the story of Peyton Tucker, daughter of APD Officer Charles Tucker,

who at the age of 2 was diagnosed with Ollier disease, a rare bone disease that causes aching pain, deformities and tumors. Austin

Cops for Charities has assisted the Tucker family with expenses associated with doctor’s visits to Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in

Dallas. We will continue to monitor Peyton’s progress and support Officer Tucker’s family through their long struggle with this disease

and Peyton’s future. Peyton Tucker

Austin Cops for Charities would not be able to accomplish all that it does without all of our supporters and volunteers who share our goals and our mission.

Thanks to all of our Austin Police Officers who have pledged their monthly contributions through their city payroll and to our invaluable community supporters

who continue to come to our aide when we put out the word that one of our own needs help.

We hope to encourage more Austin Police Officers to join our organization in the coming year as we continue to provide needed assistance to our community

partners and our fellow police officers.
