Different Ways to Update

Web setup Wizard
Command-Line or Terminal

Web Setup Wizard
1. Navigate to: System > Tools > Web Setup Wizard > System Upgrade.
2. One the System Upgrade page, you will have to select a version to which you wish to upgrade to.
3. Click on Next button.
4. Before you upgrade the version, take the backup of the database by clicking on ‘Create backup’.
5. Once the backup has been created, you can finish the upgrade process. Click on ‘Upgrade’ to finish.

Terminal (Command Line Interface)
If you are upgrading your Magento® based eCommerce store without any sample data, then you need to first get MDVA-532 patch and then apply it in your store.
Follow the below steps for the upgrade:
1. Login to your Magento® admin panel and go to directory where you have installed the software.
2. Then, add the below given commands:composer require magento/product-community-edition-2,0,6 --no-update composer update.

3. Enter the keys for authentication when the command appears fine.
4. Enter the below command for updating schema and data:php bin/magento setup:upgrade
5. Check your storefront for the changes made.

You can update your store using Terminal if you have already installed the sample data. Follow the steps.
1. Enter the following command in terminal:composer require magento/product-community-edition-2.1.0 --no-update

4. Wait for sometime and then reset the file systems.
5. Finally run:php bin/magento setup:upgrade
