The inaugural Star Wars-themed Course of the Force five-day relay event benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation® concluded on July 11 th at the doors of Comic-Con and working closely with Octagon Global Event–under the direction of Lenny Grancoeur, Senior Director of Outdoor Event, CSC was responsible for the participant’s safety and provided event security along the course via bicycle patrol teams for nearly 135 miles! CSC was happy to expand their coverage this year and looks forward to continued growth next year. CSC Pleased with Steward Training Program Debut In close cooperation with MLS, CSC has developed a Steward Training Program that will help the league safely manage the growth of Supporter Groups. This program was debuted at the 2012 AT&T MLS All- Star Game and will be expanded within the league over the next few seasons. Supporter Groups are unique to soccer and often enrich the game-day experience as supporters unite to cheer for their teams with songs, chants, music, banners and other unique celebrations. MLS believes that Supporter Groups are one of the keys to the long-term growth of soccer within the United States, but remains aware of some of the challenges similar groups have created in Europe and other areas around the world.

The largest electronic music party in the United States returned to Las VegasLAS VEGAS, NV – CSC Las Vegas provided crowd management and security services June 8th-10th for 16th Annual Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway–under the direction of Pasquale Rotella, CEO, Insomniac Inc. and Sean Samson, Insomniac Security Director.

The CSC Las Vegas branch with support from CSC Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Orange County, Fresno, Winston-Salem, Orlando, Indianapolis as well as APEX Security Group, a CSC affiliate company, staffed over 700 personnel per day and provided pat downs & bag searches, ticket taking, ushering, stage & barricade security, roam teams, crowd management and guest services for over 300,000 eager music fans who attended from all over the world.

“Our support for EDC 2012 was truly a CSC team effort as managers and staff from CSC offices in California, Florida, North Carolina, Indiana and Corporate came in to help ensure we provided our client and their guests a safe and secure environment for one of the largest events in Las Vegas,” said Jay Purves, Branch Manager, CSC Las Vegas and Vice President, CSC Nevada.

The three-day festival highlighted: seven stages, carnival rides, spectacular art & light displays and performances from over 100 electronic dance music artists including the unforgettable Steve Aoki, Afrojack, Tiesto, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Feed Me and many others.

CSC provided crowd management services for multiple tour dates of Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw’s 2012 ‘Brothers of the Sun Tour’. The amazing duo’s first tour in 2001 electrified fans and certainly had a profound impact in the world of music and back again this year–Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw gave outstanding performances at 19 different venues across the U.S. • CSC was pleased to provide services for seven tour destinations, which in total drew an estimated 300,000 fans!

Kansas City Host of Major League Baseball All-Star GameKANSAS CITY, MI – CSC Kansas City was pleased to provide crowd management and guest services for the Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Game, July 10th, and associated events–under the direction of Carrie Bligh, Director of Event Operations and Fan Experience, Kansas City Royals. CSC Kansas City with support from CSC Orlando, St. Louis, Atlanta and Oklahoma City provided security services such as screening at gates, security inside stadium as well as bicycle patrol in stadium parking lots.

Additionally, CSC handled security for the Sponsor Zone site–under the direction of Chris Dowling, Project Manager, BaAM Productions as well as ticket taking, bag checks, along with overnight security services for the “Buck, BBQ and Baseball” charity event–under the direction of Peter Soule, Vice President of Event Coordination, Party Planners West. CSC extended further coverage with escorts for Fox Sports camera crew, as well as for the ESPN compound and its camera crew. CSC Special Events performed security services for All-Star FanFest, held July 6th-10th at the Kansas City Convention Center–Bartle Hall, which drew roughly 115,000 fans over the five event days.“I am very pleased with the staff’s performance, diligence and teamwork at our first major event together,” said Lauren Schuck, Kansas City Branch Manager.

The National League (NL) beat the American League (AL) winning for the third year in a row with a shutout, 8-0. Chipper Jones, Atlanta Braves Third baseman/Left Fielder, received ample applause in his final MLB All-Star Game. Melky Cabrera, San Francisco Giants Outfielder, earned the 2012 MVP.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – CSC Oklahoma City provided additional security services and 24-hour coverage beginning May

5th thru June 25th throughout the Western Conference and NBA Finals on Game Days at Chesapeake Energy Arena, working alongside SMG–under the direction of John Goetz, Assistant General Manager/Director of Event Services and Carrie Stewart, Event Coordinator. During the Western Conference and NBA Finals, the NBA requested SMG to have additional security and ESPN requested CSC’s services. CSC Oklahoma City worked; TNT Compound security, ESPN Compound security, Thunder Alley as well as performed bag searches. CSC and its Oklahoma City branch–under the direction of Shana Maugh, Branch Manager and Dusty Maugh, Assistant Branch Manager, would like to congratulate the Oklahoma City Thunder on their first Western Conference championship and their extraordinary efforts in the NBA Finals.

Rapport Vital to CSC Atlanta Success

DOVER, DE – CSC Philadelphia provided gate searches, perimeter access, VIP Loft, Main Firefly Stage barricade & access control and 3rd stage barricade services with 160 staff each day at the Inaugural Firefly Music Festival, July 20th-22nd, held at the Woodlands, a spacious concert field surrounded by the lush forest on the grounds of Dover International Speedway–under the direction of Ed Klima, Director of Emergency Services and Loss Control, Dover International Speedway. Firefly Music Festival was organized by Red Frog Events, an independent event production company.

Dover International Speedway, Dover Police, and Delaware State Police gave CSC many compliments on the performance of the staff, as well as CSC’s readiness to assist and compliment them on crowd control. The staffing and event coordination was provided by CSC Philadelphia–under the direction of J.P. Haylsip, Branch Manager and Randy Boczkowski, Event Manager; in addition to support from CSC Washington D.C. The three-day, 48-act festival drew media coverage and 30,000 festivalgoers each day, where rock and hip-hop artists performed, such as The Killers and Death Cab for Cutie. The well-received event will be back next year!

Debut Year of Firefly Music Festival Glowing Reviews

ATLANTA, GA – CSC Atlanta, which opened in 2001, has demonstrated excellent rapport with clients and employees alike, recently becoming one of the busiest CSC branch offices–under the direction of Greg Overstreet, Branch Manager. The Atlanta branch has proven its tenacious ability to grow their new contracts, which encompass the Gwinnett Arena and The Georgia State University “Buddy” or Ambassador Program.

Rapport is defined as the relationship of two or more people who are in sync or on the same wavelength because they feel similar or relate well to each other–and Atlanta’s Branch Manager, Greg Overstreet understands that establishing rapport with clientele and among employees is a key component to any successful business relationship.

MIAMI, FL – CSC and its Miami branch would like to congratulate Miami HEAT, the 2012 NBA Champion. Capturing the title in Game 5 with a 121-106 win over Oklahoma City Thunder, this championship marks the second in franchise history for the HEAT; their first NBA title was in 2006.

CSC Miami provided Game Day coverage for the NBA Finals with 250 plus crowd management and event security personnel staffed on: June 17th, 19th & 21st. CSC Philadelphia provides services for University of Pennsylvania Quakers athletic facilities, including: Rhodes Field, Sheerr Pool, Penn Park, Meiklejohn Stadium as well as Franklin Field and The Palestra–two historic venues located on Penn campus–under the direction Scott Ward, Director of Game Management, Penn and Peggy Kowalski, Director of Special Events, Penn. Providing security, ushering, parking, and ticket services, CSC staffs upwards of 200 employees for the Penn Relays held at Franklin Field and 40 plus employees for Penn Basketball Games held at The Palestra. Built in 1895, Franklin Field is the oldest U.S. stadium still operating for football games and stands proudly beside the famed Palestra, home site of the Quakers Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Volleyball and Wrestling. The Palestra, also known as the “Cathedral of College Basketball”, is annually voted as one of the top arenas to watch a basketball game and built in 1927; it has hosted more collegiate basketball games, more visiting teams and more NCAA tournaments than any other U.S. arena.
