I have chose Jessica Ellen Cornish who is known as ‘Jessie J’ in the music industry. She is 25 and produces different genres of music which are; Pop, Hip-hop, R&B, soul and dance.

Jessie J is signed to four different labels which are - Lava records- Gut records- Island recordsAnd then the major record label which is; - Universal republic records.

Universal republic records is a subsidiary label as it is a label that is part owned by another label. For example; republic records is part owned by universal. Universal is a major label however, is a subsidiary of a Paris – based media conglomerate vivendi.

To what extent is the the company integrated both vertically and horizontally?

Vivendi is both vertically and horizontally integrated to an extent. They are horizontally integrated through the television, video games and telecommunications.

What was the artist’s most recent album and how many copies has it sold worldwide?

Jessie J’s most recent album was ‘Alive’ which she released on the 23rd of September, 2013. In the first week of releasing this album, 39,270 albums were sold in the UK.

Jessie j promoted her album and hints about her creating a new album over social media sites like twitter and instagram, then she made a few hints in several interviews but then she finally announced the name of the album at the ‘V festival’ on the 17th August, 2013.

Jessie j uses the social media to a large extent when it comes to marketing her music. She puts videos of her singing on instagram and tweets about her albums and tracks on twitter which all market to her large fan base as they want to buy and listen to what they hear and see.
