Junior Angus exhibitors led 282 entries at the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Junior Angus

Classic (MAJAC) Regional Preview Show March 11-12 in Harrisonburg, Va. Randy Perry, Prather, Calif., evaluated the 37 bred-and-owned (B&O) females, 99 owned females, six cow-calf pairs, eight B&O bulls, seven B&O steers, 45 steers, and 80 Angus-based crossbred steers.

Zach McCall, Greenville, Va., led the grand champion B&O female. MC PVF Blackcap 5228 is a September 2015 daughter of PVF Insight 0129. She earlier won senior champion. Bryce Bowman, Barboursville, Va., led the grand champion B&O bull. MVF First Light C603 is an April 2016 son of PVF Insight 0129. He earlier won junior champion. BK Gambling Man won the title of reserve grand champion B&O bull after first claiming reserve junior champion. Karli Berkheimer, Dillsburg, Pa., owns the April 2016 son of AHFF the Gambler 401B.

Conner Grim, Dover, Pa., showed the grand champion B&O steer. Shady Dell Zack 429 is an April 2016 son of Connealy Black Granite. He first won junior champion. Alyson Schulze, Woodbine, Md., led the reserve grand champion B&O steer. Washington Sammy 356 is a March 2016 son of Silveira’s Style 9303. He earlier won reserve junior champion.

Suter Clark, Gretna, Va., led the grand champion steer. Buchanan’s Wasabi is a March 2016 son of PVF Surveillance 4129. He earlier won junior champion. Caleb Boden, Clear Brook, Va., showed the reserve grand champion steer. Pugh First Class Elm 604 is a March 2016 son of Dameron First Class. He first won reserve junior champion.

The grand champion Angus-based steer was owned by Chase Hanson, Lewisburg, W.Va., and weighed 1,045 pounds (lb.). The

reserve grand champion Angus-based steer was owned by Kelsy Wolfe, Mount Airy, Md., and weighed 950 lb.

Premier Breeder was Prairie View Farm, Gridley, Ill.

Showmanship honors were won by Zachary Armstrong, Williamsville, Va., novice champion; Chloe Coblentz, Woodsboro, Md., novice reserve champion; Jordan Kelly, Berryville, Va., junior champion; Kaylie Shelton, Frederick, Md., junior reserve champion; Zach McCall, intermediate champion; Avery Dull, intermediate reserve champion; Claudia Hissong, Greencastle, Pa., senior champion; and Robert Nixon III, Rapidan, Va., senior reserve champion.
