    Career and College Readiness Project:

    Mission:

    Create a Career and College Readiness Curriculum starting with priority areas.

    Vision:

    Common Career and College Ready Curriculum and Resources available to all across the

    state.

    Phase I (2010-2011):

    ELA Writing K-12

    Math- K-5 Place Value, 6-8 Ratio and 9-12 Transformations

    Phase II (2011-2012):

    Four additional units are being developed for K-12 grade in ELA and

    Math. These units will be available to the public Fall, 2012.

    This project is a collaborative effort of MAISA and

    the 57 Intermediate School Districts across the

    state of Michigan.

    Project developers are connected to and utilizing

    the resources from the SMARTER Balanced

    Consortium and other initiatives across the nation

    Readiness

    Unit Development:

    Process Phase I (2010-2011)

    o Gap analysis was conducted to identify the largest gapsbetween existing Grade Level Content Expectations/High

    School Content Expectations and the new Career and CollegeReadiness Standards.

    o Identified units were developed by contracted writers(content specialists with strong curriculum backgrounds).

    o Phase I Units were reviewed by content consultants andpiloted in classrooms.

    o Finalized units were rolled out to all ISDs in August of 2011,posted on the MAISA web site, and made available to LEAs

    through their ISDs.

    Process Phase II (2011-2012)

    o Unit topics for development were identifiedo Math and ELA Leadership Teams of ISD consultants were

    formed to provide input and oversight of unit development.

    o Draft units are being reviewed and piloted by ISDs across thestate providing feedback to the writers and leadership teams.

    o These units will be available for public access Fall of 2012.Process Phase II (2012-2013)

    o Final 3 units will be developed through the same process andavailable Fall, 2013.
