    Metro Division 22Northern Expansion

    The Metro Division 22 NorthernExpansion Alternative is approximately3.5 acres in size and is located in theCity of Hawthorne. The existing landuse is industrial, and contains a publicstorage facility. The site is bounded bythe existing Metro Division 22 GreenLine Maintenance Facility to the south,the Harbor Subdivision to the east andnorth, and is adjacent to professionalo;ce buildings to the west. The sitewould only be accessed by rail from theexisting Metro Division 22 MaintenancFacility to the south across the SoutheCalifornia Edison Easement.

    The Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridorproject team is analyzing four sitesalong the proposed Light Rail Transit(LRT) Line for the development of anew maintenance facility.All of the potential maintenance facility sites contain propertythat would need to be acquired and/or facilities that may needto be relocated should that site be chosen.

    The operation of a new LRT line will require construction ofa new maintenance facility to store, maintain, repair and cleanlight rail vehicles. These four sites described and pictured tothe right will undergo a detailed environmental review inaccordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Keyissues to be addressed include displacement, relocation,employment changes, tra;c access, noise, and land usepolicies, all of which will be incorporated into a SupplementalDraft Environmental Impact Statement/Recirculated DraftEnvironmental Impact Report (SDEIS/RDEIR). This SDEIS/RDEIR will focus on maintenance facility issues and providean update on potential impacts to parklands and historicresources. The report is scheduled to be available for publicreview and comment by Winter 2011. All potentially a=ectedproperty owners will be notied of the SDEIS/RDEIR releaseand public hearing.

    The SDEIS/RDEIR will supplement the Draft EnvironmentalImpact Statement/Environmental Impact Report (DEIS/DEIR)for the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor, which was releasedfor public comment in September 2009 and received by theMetro Board of Directors in December 2009. The Final EIS/EIRfor the entire Crenshaw/LAX Corridor project is scheduled forpublic comment in Spring of 2011.

    Arbor Vitae/Bellanca

    The Arbor Vitae/Bellanca Alternative isapproximately 17.6 acres and is locatedin the City of Los Angeles. The sitecontains industrial uses, Dollar CarRental, Avis Car Rental administrativeo;ces, Barthoco International, andGourmet Trading Company. The site isbounded by Arbor Vitae St to the north,

    Neutrogena Corporation to the west,and the Harbor Subdivision right-of-wayto the east. The site would be accessedby rail through an at-grade connectionat the southeastern end of the site andby vehicles at three entrances alongArbor Vitae St.

    Manchester/Aviation

    The Manchester/Aviation Alternativeis approximately 20.5 acres and islocated in the City of Inglewood. Thesite contains industrial uses, including

    National/Alamo Car Rental, CrimsonTechnical College and an industrialpark. There is a commercial use (gasstation) located on the southern end ofthe project site. The site is bounded byAviation Bl to the east, Portal Av to thewest, Arbor Vitae St to the south andLA Car Guy to the north. The site wouldbe accessed by rail through two at-gradeconnections on the southern end ofthe site and by vehicles at one entrancealong Arbor Vitae St and two entrances

    along Aviation Bl.

    Marine/Redondo Beach

    The Marine/Redondo Beach Alternativeis approximately 14.2 acres and is locatedin the City of Redondo Beach. Thesite contains industrial uses in a largewarehouse, a freight delivery companyand a sports accessory business.There is also a nursery that operatesunderneath the Southern California

    Edison utility lines. The site is boundedby Redondo Beach Av to the west, theHarbor Subdivision to the east, andindustrial warehouses to the north andsouth. The site would be accessed by railthrough two at-grade connections onthe southeastern end of the site and byvehicles at two entrances along RedondoBeach Av.
