Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic is a large free clinicjust outside of Charleston, SC. We treat patients for allof their primary care health needs, including diabetes,hypertension, coronary disease, depression, and more- for free. Our on-going primary care is provided to ourpatients just like any typical family practice, but at nocost for those who cannot afford health insurance dueto low income or job loss. Our patient services include low or no-cost genericprescriptions as needed, with free labs and imagingprovided by Roper St. Francis Hospital and freereferrals to 19 sub-speciality medical offices foradditional treatments. Within the clinic, we provide:

Our work is made possible by over 138 volunteers,donations from the community, and fundraisers like ourClay Shooting Tournament. For every dollar raised, weare able to provide up 8x return on the investmentmade, with all proceeds going directly towards patientcare. Since opening our doors in 2008, we haveprovided over 42,000 free patient visits across theLowcountry - and we continue to grow. Recently, we expanded our eligibility not only to providefree health care to residents and workers on Johns,James & Wadmalaw Islands, but also to uninsuredadults on Folly Beach and the hospitality workers ofdowntown Charleston.
