Premier League Review Another weekend of chaotic results to throw both men’s and women’s comps wide open yet again! At West Beach on Saturday afternoon, the Uni women’s momentum continued with a hard-fought 4-3 win over previously first-placed Burnside, with the game going right down to the wire with Burnside having a last-minute chance to snatch a point, Uni deserving their upset win. The girl’s used up all of the goals it appeared however, as the men’s match could not produce a solitary goal, in a midfield battle that saw a lack of incisiveness in both sides attacks. Grange Royals enjoyed their first win of the season with a convincing 4-1 result (Madeleine Jordan 2 goals) against Forestville to move into 7th, while Adelaide and Woodville’s 1-1 draw puts their top four spots in jeopardy to fast-finishing Uni in the ladies fixtures. Carly Simms 2 penalty corner conversions in Port’s 4-0 demolition of Seacliff sees the Magpie ladies regain top spot. Forestville’s men notched a 3-0 win against Grange Royals men, while Glynn Tamblyn in the midfield and Brenton Carle in goals had outstanding games in Seacliff’s spirited 3-2 win against Port at Port on Sunday afternoon. In a quirk of hockey Port managed to get last touch on all five goals scored in this match. Adelaide defeated Woodville 4-2 to stay within reach of the four. Probably the key match up this week in both men’s and women’s mid-week round is that between Burnside and Adelaide, but in what is a very open comp no result can be taken for granted. Paul Finnie
