The Magnolia Heights Neighborhood Association, along with the St. Pete Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA) are asking the city to consider reallocating funds to pave the remaining 8 miles of city streets in St. Peters- burg, some of which are right here in Magnolia Heights (see picture above of 37th Ave and close up on right). Currently, if homeown- ers want their street paved, they are expected to cover the costs to the tune of $70-$75 per linear foot of abutting property. This can amount to thousands of dollars per homeowner. As an Association, we believe it is the City’s responsibility to pay for Paving, Curbing, Resto- ration within Parkways, Engineering, Construction supervision, Construction Inspection, and Special Assessment District Ad- ministration as well as other project costs; not the homeowner/taxpayer.
