Electrical InstallationTHIS EQUIPMENT MUST BE EARTHED
Before connection please ensure that the linesupply corresponds to that stated on the ratinglabel. The SM4 model requires a supply rated at220-240Vac, 50Hz single phase.
There is an IEC socket at the rear on the lefthand side of the instrument for connection tothe mains supply, (see figure 1). The unit issupplied with two mains leads fitted with IECplugs for connection to the instrument. One hasa U.K. 3 pin plug and the other has a 2 pin“Shuko” plug for connection to the mainssupply. Choose the lead appropriate for yourelectrical installation and discard the other.
Should neither lead be suitable you shouldobtain a moulded lead locally. If this is notpossible, take the lead with the U.K. plug andreplace the plug with a suitable alternative.
Should the mains lead require replacement acable of 1mm2 of harmonised code H05V V-Fconnected to an IEC 320 plug should be used.
N.B. The UK mains lead is protected by a 10Afuse mounted in the plug top.
The mains lead should be connected to theinstrument BEFORE connection to the mainssupply.

Safety Advice Before Use- The unit should be carried using both handswith fingers under each side frame.
- Never move or carry the unit with containers onthe top plate or while the unit is connected tothe mains electricity supply.
- There is a danger of liquid spillage andsplashing if containers are over filled and stirredat high speed. Always build the stirrer speed upslowly and never stir more rapidly than isnecessary.
SM4 General Description The SM4 is a mini magnetic stirrer ideal forgeneral laboratory use and is shown in figure 1.
OperationPosition the apparatus on a flat surface.
Ensure the speed control is at the ‘OFF’ position.Place a magnetic follower in the vessel andposition it centrally on the plate. Switch the unit‘ON’ and turn the speed controller slowly to theright until the follower is rotating to the desiredspeed.
The lowest speed setting can be adjusted usingthe ‘Z’ Control. Turn the speed controller knobto number 1 and adjust the ‘Z’ Control until thefollower is rotating at the desired speed. Everytime the speed controller is set to 1, this speedwill be observed.
Maintenance & ServicingWARNING: Ensure the unit isdisconnected from the mainselectricity supply before attemptingany cleaning or servicing.
Cleaning
Periodically clean the instrument using a dampcloth and mild detergent solution. Do not useharsh or abrasive cleaning agents.
Servicing
This unit does NOT require routine servicing.
Repairs
Only spare parts supplied or specified by BibbySterilin Ltd. or its agents should be used. Fittingof non-approved parts may affect theperformance and safety features designed intothe instrument.

SM27 General DescriptionThe SM27 stirrer shown in figure 3 can bebattery powered or used on mains supply. It isideal for use inside incubators, glove boxes or inthe field.
OperationStirringPlace the solution to be stirred together with aPTFE follower in a suitable vessel and place inthe centre of the unit. Switch the stirrer ‘ON’and adjust the speed of stirring using the speedcontrol knob (figure 3). When the unit isoperating, the LED will be lit (figure 3).
Replacing the batteries
When the batteries are running low, the stirreroperating indicator (figure 3) will dim. To replacethe batteries, open the battery compartments(figure 4) using a coin. Remove used batteriesand dispose of safely. Replace new batteries withpositive terminals facing the rear as shown infigures 2 & 4.
Using an adapter
Optional external power supply adapters areavailable for 230Vac and a car cigarette socket(see accessories overleaf).
Connect the stirrer to the adapter using the lowvoltage socket at the back of the unit (figure 4)before connecting the power supply.

Avant de brancher l’équipement, veuillez vousassurer que le câble d’alimentation correspondaux indications de l’étiquette d’informationsélectriques. Le modèle SM4 nécessite unealimentation nominale de 220 à 240V encourant alternatif, 50Hz monophasé.
Une prise femelle IEC, pour un branchement àl'alimentation sur secteur, se trouve à l’arrière, ducôté gauche de l’instrument (voir figure 1).L’unité est fournie avec deux câblesd'alimentation, équipés de prises mâles IEC(Commission électrotechnique internationale)pour un branchement à l’instrument. L’une deces prises est de type britannique à 3 fiches etl'autre a 2 fiches “Shuko” pour un branchementà l’alimentation sur secteur. Choisissez le câblequi convient pour votre installation électrique etécartez l’autre.
Si aucun des câbles ne convient, vous devezobtenir un câble moulé localement. Si ceci n’estpas possible, prenez la prise britannique etremplacez la prise par une alternative adaptée.
Au cas où un remplacement du câbled'alimentation sur secteur est nécessaire, il faututiliser un câble d’1 mm2 de code harmoniséH05V V-F raccordé à une prise IEC 320.
N.B. : Le câble d’alimentation sur secteurbritannique est protégé par un fusible à 10ampères monté dans la partie supérieure de laprise.

Conseils de sécurité avantl'utilisation- L’unité doit être portée à deux mains, les doigtsétant sous le châssis de chaque côté.
- Ne jamais déplacer ou transporter l’unité quandil y a des récipients sur la plaque supérieure ouquand l’unité est branchée à l’alimentationélectrique sur secteur.
- Il existe un danger de renversement de liquideet d’éclaboussures si les récipients sont troppleins et mélangés à grande vitesse. Toujoursaugmenter graduellement la vitesse dumélangeur et ne jamais mélanger plusrapidement que ce qui est nécessaire.
Description générale, SM4Le SM4 est un mini mélangeur magnétique idéalpour une utilisation générale en laboratoire etest représenté sur la figure 1.
FonctionnementPositionner l’appareil sur une surface plate.
S'assurer que le bouton de réglage de la vitesseest en position ‘OFF’ (‘ARRET’). Placer un suiveurmagnétique dans la cuve et placer celle-ci aucentre de la plaque. Mettre l'unité en MARCHEet tourner le bouton de réglage de vitessedoucement vers la droite jusqu’à ce que lesuiveur tourne à la vitesse voulue.
Le réglage de vitesse le plus faible peut être régléà l’aide de la commande ‘Z’. Tourner le boutonde réglage de vitesse jusqu’au numéro 1 etrégler le bouton ‘Z’ jusqu’à ce que le suiveurtourne à la vitesse voulue. A chaque fois que lebouton de réglage de vitesse est réglé sur 1,cette vitesse est observée.

Des piles classiques alcalines au magnésium sontrecommandées, mais les piles au chlorure de zincou les piles rechargeables au Nickel-cadmiumpeuvent également être utilisées. Les pilesrechargeables DOIVENT être enlevées dumélangeur avant le rechargement.
Adaptateurs pour alimentation secteur
Le mélangeur SM27 peut également fonctionnerà partir d'une alimentation électrique externe à230 V courant alternatif A CONDITION QUE LEBON ADAPTEUR POUR ALIMENTATION SURSECTEUR SOIT UTILISE. Les adaptateurs adéquatssont détaillés dans la section ‘Pièces détachées &accessoires’.
Les adaptateurs peuvent être utilisés, que lespiles soient en place ou non.

Remplacer les pilesLorsque les piles sont déchargées, l’indicateur defonctionnement du mélangeur (figure 3) éclaireplus faiblement. Pour remplacer les piles, ouvrir lescompartiments des piles (figure 4) à l’aide d’unepièce de monnaie. Enlever les piles utilisées etmettre au rebut de manière sure. Remplacer parde nouvelles piles dont les bornes positives sonttournées vers l’arrière comme le montrent lesfigures 2 & 4.

Utilisation d'un adaptateurDes adaptateurs en option pour l’alimentationélectrique externe sont disponibles pour unealimentation à 230V en courant alternatif et unallume-cigare de voiture (voir accessoires ci-dessous).
Connecter le mélanger à l’adaptateur à l’aide dela prise à basse tension située à l’arrière del’unité (figure 4) avant de brancher l’alimentationélectrique.
Maintenance et entretienAVERTISSEMENT: S’assurer que lespiles sont enlevées et / ou que l’unitén’est pas branchée à l’adaptateur pouralimentation sur secteur avant decommencer la maintenance oul’entretien.

Installazione elettricaQUESTO APPARECCHIO DEVE ESSERECOLLEGATO A TERRA
Prima di procedere con il collegamento, verificare chel’alimentazione elettrica di rete corrisponda ai valoriprescritti nella targhetta dati dell’apparecchio. Il modelloSM4 richiede alimentazione elettrica a 220-240 Vca, 50Hz monofase.
Sul lato posteriore sinistro dell’apparecchio èpresente una presa IEC per il collegamentoall’alimentazione elettrica di rete (v. Fig. 1).L’apparecchio è fornito con due cavi dialimentazione di rete dotati di spine a normaIEC. Un cavo è dotato di spina GB a 3 spinotti el’altro è dotato di una spina di tipo Shuko a 2spinotti, per il collegamento all’alimentazione direte. Scegliere il cavo adatto alla propriasituazione e smaltire l’altro cavo.

Descrizione generalemodello SM4Il modello SM4 è un agitatore magnetico dipiccole dimensioni ideale per uso generale dilaboratorio, ed è illustrato in figura 1.
FunzionamentoPosizionare l’apparecchio su di una superficiepiana.
Assicurarsi che il regolatore di velocità sia nellaposizione OFF. Inserire una barretta magneticanel contenitore e posizionarla centralmenterispetto alla piastra. Accendere l’apparecchio eruotare lentamente il regolatore di velocità versodestra fino ad ottenere la velocità di rotazionedesiderata della barretta.
La velocità minima di rotazione può essereregolata mediante il comando “Z”. Spostare ilregolatore di velocità in corrispondenza dellaposizione 1. Agire quindi sul comando “Z” fino aottenere la velocità desiderata della barrettamagnetica. La velocità così impostata sarà lavelocità corrispondente al valore 1 del regolatore.

Descrizione generale SM27L’agitatore SM27, illustrato in Figura 3, puòessere alimentato a batterie o da rete. È idealeper l’utilizzo all’interno di incubatori, cassette dimanipolazione protetta con guanti, o sul campo.
FunzionamentoAgitazione
Appoggiare un contenitore adatto, contenente lasoluzione da agitare e una barretta magnetica inPTFE, al centro dell'apparecchio. Accenderel’agitatore (ON) e regolare la velocità utilizzandoil comando di regolazione della velocità (Figura3). La spia LED si illumina (Figura 3) per indicareil funzionamento dell’apparecchio.
Sostituzione delle batterie
Per segnalare l’esaurimento delle batterie,l’indicatore di funzionamento (Figura 3) siillumina con minore intensità. Per sostituire lebatterie, aprire il compartimento batterie (Figura4) con una moneta. Rimuovere le batteriescariche e smaltirle appropriatamente. Inserire lenuove batterie facendo attenzione che i polipositivi siano rivolti verso il retrodell’apparecchio, come indicato in Figg. 2 e 4.
Utilizzo di un adattatore
Sono disponibili adattatori per l’alimentazionedell’apparecchio da rete a 230 Vca o tramitel’accendisigari di un'automobile.

Antes de la conexión asegure que laalimentación de la línea corresponde con laindicada en la etiqueta de régimen de servicio. El
modelo SM4 requiere una alimentación nominalde 220-240 V c.c., 50Hz, monofásica.
Hay un tomacorriente IEC en la parte traseraizquierda del instrumento para su conexión a laalimentación de la red (vea la figura 1). Elinstrumento se envía con dos cables conductoresde la red provistos de enchufes IEC para suconexión al instrumento. Un cable tiene unenchufe de 3 clavijas británico y el otro incorporaun enchufe de 2 clavijas “Shuko” para suconexión a la alimentación de la red. Seleccioneel cable adecuado para su instalación eléctrica ydeseche el otro.
Si ninguno de estos cables es adecuado deberáobtener un cable moldado en la localidad. Siesto no es posible, tome el cable con el enchufebritánico y sustitúyalo por otro alternativoadecuado.
Si es necesario recambiar el cable conductor dela red deberá usarse un cable de 1mm2 decódigo armonizado H05V V-F conectado a unenchufe IEC 320.
Nota: El cable conductor de la red británico estáprotegido con un fusible de 10A instalado en laparte superior del enchufe.

FuncionamientoColoque el agitador sobre una superficie plana.

Coloque le solución que desea agitar junto conun seguidor de PTFE en un recipiente adecuado ydispóngalo en el centro del instrumento.Encienda el agitador (ON) y ajuste la velocidadde la agitación con la perilla de control develocidad (figura 3). El LED (figura 3)permanecerá encendido mientras funciona elinstrumento.
Recambio de las pilas
Cuando las pilas se están descargando la luz delindicador de funcionamiento del agitador (figura3) se atenuará. Para recambias las pilas, abra su

alojamiento (figura 4) usado una moneda. Retirelas pilas usadas y deséchelas con seguridad.Instale las nuevas pilas con los bornes positivosorientados hasta la parte posterior delinstrumento como se ilustra en las figuras 2 y 4.
Utilización del adaptador
Hay disponibles adaptadores de fuentes dealimentación externas opcionales para tomas de230V c.a. y tomas de encendedores de vehículos(vea abajo “Accesorios”).

Vor dem Anschluss bitte kontrollieren, ob dieStromversorgung den Angaben auf demTypenschild entspricht. Das Modell SM4 benötigteine Stromversorgung von 220-240VWechselstrom, 50 Hz einphasig.
Auf der Geräterückseite befindet sich eineEuropa-Steckdose für den Anschluss desNetzkabels (siehe Abbildung 1). Das Gerät wirdmit zwei Netzkabeln mit unterschiedlichenSteckern geliefert. Das eine Kabel besitzt einen 3-poligen Stecker für Großbritannien, während dasandere Kabel mit einem zweipoligen Schuko-Stecker ausgerüstet ist. Wählen Sie das für IhrenStandort geeignete Kabel und entsorgen Sie dasandere.
Sollten beide Kabel nicht passen, besorgen Siebitte ein vorgefertigtes Netzkabel vor Ort. Ist auchdies nicht möglich, nehmen Sie bitte das Kabelmit dem GB- Stecker und schließen Sie denentsprechenden neuen Stecker an.
Bei einem eventuellen Austausch des Netzkabelswird ein Kabel vom Typ H05V V-F mit 1mm2
Adernquerschnitt und Europastecker (IEC 320)benötigt.
Hinweis: Das GB-Netzkabel ist durch eine 10ASicherung im Stecker selbst ge-schützt.
Das Kabel muss zuerst am Gerät eingestecktwerden BEVOR der Anschluss an dieStromversorgung erfolgt.

Vor dem Gebrauch folgendeSicherheitshinweise beachten- Das Gerät mit beiden Händen so tragen, dassdie Finger auf beiden Seiten unter den Rahmengreifen.
- Das Gerät unter keinen Umständentransportieren, wenn sich Gefäße auf derOberfläche befinden, oder während das Gerätnoch am Netz angeschlossen ist.
- Bei zu starkem Rühren besteht die Gefahr, dassdie Flüssigkeit überschwappt. Daher immer miteiner langsamen Rührgeschwindigkeit beginnenund niemals schneller rühren als notwendig.
Allgemeine Beschreibung,SM4Das SM4 ist ein Mini-Magnetrührer, der sichbesonders für den Laborgebrauch eignet (sieheAbbildung 1).
BedienungDas Gerät auf einer flachen Oberflächeaufstellen.
Darauf achten, dass der Geschwindigkeitsreglerin der Stellung “Aus” steht. Einen magnetischenMitnehmer in das Gefäß setzen und dieses mittigauf die Platte stellen. Das Gerät einschalten undden Geschwindigkeitsregler langsam nach rechtsdrehen bis sich der Mitnehmer mit dergewünschten Geschwindigkeit dreht.
Die niedrigste Geschwindigkeitseinstellung kannmit dem ‘Z’-Regler eingestellt werden. Dazu denGeschwindigkeitsregler auf den Wert 1 einstellenund den ‘Z’-Regler so regulieren, dass sich derMitnehmer mit der gewünschtenGeschwindigkeit dreht. Jedes Mal wenn derGeschwindigkeitsregler auf 1 gesetzt wird, istdiese Geschwindigkeit dann eingestellt.
Wartung & InstandhaltungACHTUNG: Vor Reinigungs- undWartungsarbeiten darauf achten, dassdas Gerät von der Netzversorgunggetrennt ist.
Reinigung
In regelmäßigen Abständen das Gerätegehäusemit einem feuchten Tuch und einem mildenReinigungsmittel säubern. Keine starken oderscheuernden Reinigungsmittel verwenden.
Wartung
Für diese Gerät sind keine Wartungsmaßnahmenerforderlich.
Reparatur
Es dürfen nur Ersatzteile verwendet werden, dievon Bibby Sterilin bzw. dessen Niederlassungengeliefert wurden. Der Einbau anderer Teile kanndie Sicherheitsfunktionen dieses Gerätsbeeinträchtigen.

Wir empfehlen normale Alkaline-Magnesium-Batterien, es können aber auch Zink-Chlorid oderwiederaufladbare Nickel-Cadmium Batterienverwendet werden. Wiederaufladbare BatterienMÜSSEN vor dem Aufladen aus dem Rührgerätherausgenommen werden.
Netzadapter
Das Rührgerät SM27 kann auch über eineexterne 230V Wechselstromversorgung betriebenwerden, VORAUSGESETZT DASS DERENTSPRECHENDE NETZADAPTER VERWENDETWIRD. Geeignete Netzgeräte finden Sie imAbschnitt “Ersatzteile und Zubehör”.
Der Netzadapter kann auch bei eingesetztenBatterien angeschlossen werden.

Allgemeine Beschreibung-SM27Das in Abb. 3 gezeigte Rührgerät SM27 kannmit Batterien oder Netzstrom betrieben werden.Er eignet sich besonders für den Einsatz inBrutschränken, Handschuhkästen oderunterwegs.
BedienungRühren
Die zu rührende Lösung zusammen mit einemPTFE-Mitnehmer in ein geeignetes Gefäß gebenund mittig auf das Gerät aufsetzen. Das Rührgeräteinschalten und die Rührgeschwindigkeit mit dem

Geschwindigkeitsregler (Abb. 3) einstellen. Wenndas Gerät in Betrieb ist leuchtet die LED-Anzeigeauf (Abb. 3).
Batteriewechsel
Wenn die Batterien fast erschöpft sindverdunkelt sich die Betriebsanzeige desRührgeräts (Abb. 3). Zum Austausch der Batteriedie Batteriefächer mit einer Münze öffnen (Abb.4). Die verbrauchten Batterien herausnehmenund auf sichere Art und Weise entsorgen. NeueBatterien so einsetzen, dass der Pluspol nachhinten weist (siehe Abb. 2 und 4).

Das Rührgerät über denNiederspannungsanschluss auf derGeräterückseite (Abb. 4) mit dem Netzgerätverbinden und erst dann die Stromversorgungeinschalten.
Wartung und InstandhaltungACHTUNG: Vor allen Wartungs- undInstandhaltungsarbeiten daraufachten, dass das Gerät zunächst vomNetz getrennt wurde, bzw. dass dieBatterie entfernt worden sind.
Reinigung
In regelmäßigen Abständen das Gerätegehäusemit einem feuchten Tuch und einem mildenReinigungsmittel säubern. Keine starken oderscheuernden Reinigungsmittel verwenden. Keinestarken Säuren bzw. Lösungsmittel auf dem ABS-Kunststoffgehäuse verwenden.
