    Judges Guidelines

Thank each of you so much for judging this years Magician of Year contest. The abovescore sheet contains the metrics we will use for the contest. The following are somegeneral guidelines for the contest.

    1. You may award the number of pints you feel appropriate for each category. For

example, under Presentation Skills, each metric has a possible 6 points that maybeawarded. If you feel the performer warrants a 4 instead of six you may give thatpoint award. In each area it would be 1 to the number listed alongside the metric.

    2. Please familiarize yourself with the metrics for each category. For example, underPerformers Presence it states as one of the metrics: Performer projected his or hervoice to entire audience, did not mumble ____ (5). You would grade on this metricalone for particular aspect. It would not matter how hard the sleight hand he or shemay be executingthe emphasis is do they speak to the audience so each personcan hear them. I think everyone gets it so enough said.

    3. Please try scoring the performer as they perform versus scoring at the end bymemory. This will help us to keep things moving as quickly as possible and also

their performance is fresh in your mind.4. Please arrive by 7 PM, 17 November 2012 and check in with Kenny Stewart to

    receive your judges packet.
