The Foreign Trade Administration and Magic 2015
Dear Colleagues
I am happy to have all of you to participate in the Magic Show in Las Vegas, for the
first time.
This year, we are attending the event to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the
Qualifying Industrial Zone Protocol (QIZ) between the United States, Egypt, and
Israel, for which several celebratory events will take place.
The parties will jointly operate a QIZ information booth, in order to market and
provide materials regarding the program, its benefits and its requirements. Next to it
there will be 24 leading Egyptian QIZ companies showcasing their products and
marketing their services.
Although the QIZ related Egyptian export has reached $1b per year, it is time to do
more to expand the QIZ program. Doubling the volume of QIZ exports is not a far-
fetched goal. The expansion of the program will not only strengthen the economic
and political relations between Israel and Egypt, but will also help to boost the small
but important textile related industry in Israel, which employs thousands of Israelis
mainly in the periphery parts of the country. Nevertheless, we also hope to expand
the QIZ beyond textile to benefit other industries.
I would like to welcome you and thank you for participating in the event and for
being able to promote the event in such a short notice.
I wish us all good luck and peace,
Gabby Bar
Head of Middle East and North Africa Department
Israeli Co-Chairman of QIZ committee
