“What teachers appreciate about Access Learning is that it is a Canadian basedcompany which offers a large video library with quality content. Being able to streamor download the videos and also having access to additional print related resourcesmakes the content very classroom friendly. As an ET leader for the district, I canappreciate how Access Learning is all about the video resources that they makeavailable to the teachers. Access Learning doesn't push the extra add-ons as theyrealize teachers don't really have the time to put into this. Access Learning is veryintuitive and I would highly recommend it!”
~ rOCky WILSOnIT Integration Specialist, Palliser regional Schools, Alberta
“We subscribe to a number of digital media services for our student teachers, basedon the types of services the schools also have. We are very excited to have addedAccess Learning to our list. It provides much needed access to titles related to theAlberta curriculum, and strong Canadian content. The pricing for this product is verycompetitive, and gives us excellent value for our money. I would strongly recommendthis product as a ‘first purchase’ for any school or school jurisdiction in Canada.”
~ BILL GLAISTEr, B.Ed., M.L.S.Curriculum Lab Coordinator, Faculty of Education, University of Lethbridge, Alberta

Teachers are asked to have lessons that are engaging and relevant,cross-curricular, focus on 21st century skills, differentiate learning, incorporate non-fiction reading and writing and provide anauthentic assessment of their students' understanding. We see thisas the core fundamental of what STEM education is all about andAccess STEM achieves this type of learning.
How do we do this?

Real-World Videos set the stage for each lesson by showing the practicalapplication of educational concepts within a company/industry.Performance Tasks built around the specific job/industry ask thestudents to apply the knowledge learned in real worldunpredictable situations. Literacy Tasks ask students to read, synthesize and write informative and/or position papers around thereal world career based topic.
Real-World Videos
Access STEM’s unique real-world videos are specifically designed topromote the relevant connections between college and careers toeducational concepts. We highlight various different jobs from manydifferent industries depicting how workers are using math, languagearts, science and technology in their job. By interviewing a diversegroup with varying types of educational backgrounds which allowsstudents to see a road map to a specific job and the skills sets thatare needed to achieve their goal.
Performance Tasks
Access STEM’s Performance Tasks are built from the “UnderstandingBy Design” framework and presents a real-world problem within thecontext of a career/industry. The career based videos frame the task, which allows the students to see the task through the career lens. Each Task contains The Big Idea, Essential Questions and learningoutcomes which outlines what will align with the learning in the Task.
Literacy Tasks
Access STEM's literacy tasks are designed for students in grades 3-12.
