While it is impossible to see anything, we can hear thesubtle sounds of the room: wood creaking, pipes running,footsteps from above. After a few movements, muffledwhispers start to become audible, and the footsteps begin to

get louder and louder, until...

INT. BASEMENT - DAY

A door opens and light pierces in. Standing at the door arethe silhouetted figures of a tall man and short girl.

GIRLWere we supposed to bring candles,or---

MAN

The lights right here.

The man flicks a switch and two dim light bulbs flicker on,and we get our first look at the room and its newinhabitants.

The room is packed with books --- some organized on shelves,others in random piles and places. Besides the books and afew scattered, random boxes, the room is just a largeconcrete hole in the ground.

The two figures are DAVID (52), dressed casually buthandsomely in a sports coat and khakis, and ELLIE (20),

dressed in a t-shirt, skirt, and glasses. They are notfather and daughter.

DAVIDHere we are.

ELLIE(grossed out)

Jesus Christ. This is the the Room?

Ellie explores.

DAVIDIt may not be too pleasant on theeyes, but it is the keeper of somethe most interesting and peculiarbooks you will ever find, I assureyou.

Ellie skims through one of the shelves.

ELLIEAll Im seeing is crap.

DAVIDYouve got to keep an open mind.Here.

David walks up to the nearest shelf and quickly has a look.

DAVIDAhh, here we go.

David takes a slim and tall pink book out from the shelf.

DAVIDThis might actually work as a niceaphrodisiac for us.

David reveals the book to Ellie: Discussing Sex With YourDaughter.

ELLIEOh my God, lemme see.

Ellie runs up to David and takes the book. She thumbsthrough it. She can barely contain her laughter. She stopsat one passage and reads.

ELLIE(Reading)

"A statistic from Readers Digestin 1965 reported that anoverwhelming 77% of parents felt

that they didnt think they couldbe their childrens sole advisersabout sex because they "knew toolittle about it". Thats insane!

David, behind Ellie, starts to caress her shoulders.

DAVIDWell you know that generation wasvery uptight. After the war theywere started to fear God more thanever before. And trained themselvesto to be ashamed of theirsexuality.

David starts to gently fondle Ellies breasts.

Ellie breaks out of Davids embrace and starts to check outanother shelf of books.

DAVIDNot true. Public education was myeducator on that subject.

ELLUEAnd yet you fuck like you went toJesuit school?

DAVIDWith age comes experience.

ELLIEOh shit, look at this.

David meets Ellie at her shelf. She shows him the book: TheSecrets of the Trees. The cover-art is an abstract image ofa young girl in a white dress floating through a forest.Something out of the 70s.
