The "eHoftrac 2.0" and the 100,000th Weidemann machine.

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

well if that's not a reason to celebrate, I don't know what is: in May 2017, the 100,000th machine was built by Weidemann in our Korbach production plant. It left us headed towards the Münster region. Read more about the personal handover directly to the customer's business on page 16-17. Perhaps no one in our company knew in the 1970s that the small articulated Hoftracs® would be such a best seller at the time. Consistently and with determination, Weidemann has worked over decades to continuously advance the development of these machines. That is why as a commercial managing director, I am particularly happy to be able to experience this great milestone number.

We successfully sell our products through our qualified comprehensive specialist retail. In addition to a great deal of machine expertise and high workshop professionalism, the independent marketing activities of our dealers are also very important to us. That is why we decided to launch the first dealer competition for the best marketing idea – we report the results and winners to you on pages 12 to 15.

You certainly already noticed our 1160 eHoftrac® on the cover and the left side – the fully electric drive is also a major topic for us. With the new AGM "battery 2.0", you do not need an external charger and can now charge the machine anywhere. In addition to the new spatial flexibility, there is another big advantage: this version of the battery makes intermediate charging possible at any time, i.e. the previously cyclical timing of working and loading is thus significantly optimised and the electric drive can be of interest for other different applications.

In this issue, many exciting reference reports await you that the editorial team has carefully researched. We present our machines to you this time in a hotel, in the wall of a dam, at the world cup for ski jumping, in a shipyard, in a cemetery – but of course also again on a dairy farm with a forward-looking orientation and a special kind of horse farm.

We hope you enjoy reading.Best regards,

A compact and sturdy design, low centre of gravity, small turning radius, powerful performance and a variety of different attachments – these features identify our Hoftrac® and still determine its great success.

CO₂-exhaust fumes, noise and soot particles in buildings – that was yesterday! The 1160 eHoftrac® banishes emissions from your everyday work. It combines familiar usage properties and the time-tested and proven performance of our Hoftrac® with the latest technology and an environmentally-conscious and cost-efficient electric drive system.

Since early 2015, the machine has been produced in series and has now experienced its first major continued development. As of March 2017, AGM batteries (AGM stands for absorbent glass mat) have been installed in the 1160 eHoftrac®. In addition, no external charger is required any more. The new on-board battery charger is installed directly on the machine with the battery.

Read more about the new technology and the associated benefits on page 10-11.

Four Weidemann machines were again part of the Schoduvel this year, northern Germany's biggest carnival parade, in Braunschweig. The Weidemann distributor CLAAS Braunschweig has been providing various tractors for the carnival parade for years. Weidemann machines were again part of the lot this year. While a 3080 provided for order at the very end of the parade with a sweeping machine, a telehandler T4512, a Hoftrac® 1350 and a wheel loader 2080 rode along in the beginning and middle of the parade. They were to jump in if one of the old-timer tractors were to fail. In the end, however, all 140 floats and tractors made it through so that around 5,000 carnival participants were able to provide around 150,000 happy spectators with "Bollchen" [candy] and a good mood.

Weidemann took advantage of the last Christmas party in December 2016 to honour long-standing employees and to personally thank them for their loyalty to the company. In addition to gifts there were also warm and appreciate words from both managing directors Bernd Apfelbeck and Klaus Pohl.

The employees Horst Mettenheimer, Franz Parison, Eugenio Dominguez Presa, Hartmuth Schiller celebrated 40 years with the company. Wolfgang Gatz and Andreas Paschke were

honoured for their 30 years of working with the company. Anika Thiele, Thomas Esche, Klaus Majunke, Heinrich Röhle, Jürgen Schlauss, Peter Seibt and Thomas Wäscher have been working for Weidemann GmbH for more than 20 years. The employees Sandra Göbel, Anja Heinemann, Alexander Hennecke, Stefan Kloster, Michael Maron, Juliana Peter and Nils Reichelt were honoured for their 10 years of working for the company. In addition, Alexander Schwarz retired after working with Weidemann GmbH for 20 years.

News. The companies Chr. Janson and Weidemann took part in the "Open Dorf" industrial trade show with a joint stand. The trade show took part on the weekend of 29/30 April in Adorf for the first time with a new concept. The commercial Weidemann trainees had made individual flower pot decorations with tractor and wheel loader silhouettes specifically for this event. Visitors to the industrial trade show were able to take home one of the decorations in return

Spring is around the corner and the city of Korbach is also "blossoming". This is also why the spring festival took place to match the weather in the pedestrian zone on 8-9 April in the pedestrian zone. With a colourful framework programme, the Korbach Hanseatic league accompanied the shopping expedition together with local companies.

Weidemann was also there, exhibiting a machine with their own stand. The young public in particular was able to find out about training and courses of studies. The training profession of agricultural and construction machine mechatronics engineer was introduced, which is new at Weidemann.

for a small donation. The decorations were very well-received. All of them found new owners and will now adorn many a garden in Adorf and the surrounding area. Participation in the skills course was also part of the donation promotion.

The donations made in this way in the amount of EUR 200 were given to the deputy headmaster of the catchment area school MPS Adorf, Eva maria Trilling on 10 May. The money is to go towards the school library and new acquisitions. "We are delighted to be able to express our bond with MPS with this campaign", says Janson managing director Dirk Schmidt. The close and forward-looking collaboration in terms of practical possibilities and subsequent training positions between the school and the companies Janson and Weidemann has a tradition already.

A new cooperation was thus started this year: the profession of agricultural and construction machine mechatronics engineer is now also offered by Weidemann. This training also includes a one-week practical phase with a focus on "Service in the field", which Weidemann trainees then complete at Janson. Angela Stöcker (head of personnel at Weidemann) is delighted about it: "If we think in a networked manner and explore the possibilities together, we can offer new professions that advance all of us here together in the region".

The exhibition terrain in Essen was again the centre of international riding sport from 18-26 March 2017: with a total of 208,000 visitors, including 32,000 visitors at the seven evening shows, Equitana once again highlighted its importance as an international trade fair for the industry. With 750 exhibitors from 30 countries, the 15 trade halls were fully booked once again. The willingness to invest and purchase was noticeably high. Many new equestrian facilities are in planning or being built, which Weidemann also was delighted to find out about from many good contacts at the trade fair.

At the trade fair stand in the investment goods hall 3, Weidemann presented a suitable product range for the horse industry with a total of five machines. The eHoftrac® with the new AGM battery technology drew a great deal of attention. After all, the machine won the innovation award at Equitana two years ago and has now achieved a considerable degree of recognition on the market. The eHoftrac® could also be seen in the large event arena and made its rounds there with the track planer between the shows.

SIMA, one of the world's largest agriculture trade fairs, took place from 26 February to 02 March in Paris. With over 1,700 exhibitors and over 230,000 visitors, it is also an important event for Weidemann. In an area of 390 m², in addition to a cross-section of the product range, the Weidemann team presented numerous new innovations, such as the configuration talent 1380, the large powerful 7 t telescopic wheel loader 5080T with Tier IV final engine technology and the 1160 eHoftrac® with new AGM battery

technology. Over all five days of the trade fair, the team from Weidemann was able to make a number of French and international contacts and get them excited about innovative products. Weidemann looks back on a very successful trade fair appearance at SIMA 2017. The numerous visitors at the trade fair stand were very impressed by the machines. There was a noticeable generally positive mood.

Speaking with Alexander Greschner, Chief Sales Officer Wacker Neuson Group.

News.

Mr. Greschner, what priorities do you have for the Weidemann brand?

Weidemann is already a leading brand in European agriculture. The focus will increasingly be placed on expanding international success further in the coming years. In addition, Weidemann will exclusively sell the small telehandlers (≤ 2.5 tonnes of payload) via its agriculture network in the future. The aim of this strategy is to increase the market shares with small telehandlers in a targeted manner. Weidemann is also planning to develop a whole series of large telehandlers (>3 tonnes of payload), which corresponds to the new emissions requirements (level V) and market these through its sales and distribution network starting in 2019/2020.

What role do electric drives play?

The application of electric motors will increase even more in the future. On the one hand, the requirements for noise protection and exhaust gas emissions are becoming increasingly strict. In addition, electric drives are the right solution for many farmers, especially used in enclosed spaces. Weidemann recently developed the eHoftrac® further, which has already been mass produced since 2015. Many awards speak for the success of this machine. The battery-powered eHoftrac® with a high-quality AGM battery ("absorbent glass mat") has been available since the beginning of the year. Thanks to an on-board battery charger, the battery can now be charged easily with a cable at any power source, whether stationary or mobile, which is another advantage of this machine. The maintenance-free engine is another argument for electric drives. In the future, we will also focus on electric drives and continue to develop the existing series.

The 1160 eHoftrac® has already been produced in series since early 2015. The machine has already been time-tested and proven in many different application areas. It is then especially appreciated by customers who have to work in noise-sensitive areas or in enclosed spaces. The 1160 eHoftrac® especially plays on its strengths here: low noise emissions and absolutely CO₂ emission-free work on site.

After two years of series production, the machine has now experienced its first major development. As of March 2017, AGM batteries (absorbent glass mat) have been installed. The AGM technology describes the design of a sealed, maintenance-free lead battery with internal gas recombination. In order to ensure the internal recombination of oxygen gas and hydrogen ions, it is necessary to immediately lead the oxygen gas generated during charging to the negative electrode where it is recombined to form water. This movement is almost completely prevented in closed battery cells due to the liquid electrolyte due to the differences in density. In enclosed lead batteries, the quick transport of gas is achieved by non-woven mats (AGM = absorbent glass mat). Smaller pores are thus wetted by the electrolyte and the larger pores are available for the gas transport. For the 1160 eHoftrac®, two different batteries are available: one with 48 V and 230 Ah and a more powerful one with 48 V and 310 Ah.

The co-operation between the manufacturer and all dealers is an important factor for showing presence on the market and actively addressing all of the end customers and being able to convince them of the range of products and services. The motto is attracting more attention and standing out in a positive way on the market – not to attract any award, however, for it is ultimately about designing and developing concepts that can fit with the manufacturer’s brand and that can genuinely represent the regionally acting dealers. “Overall, we have established a very good co-operation with our dealer. In order to acknowledge the various activities and recognise successes, we decided in the spring to have the first Weidemann dealer competition. The dealers were able to submit their best sales activities. We deliberately designed the task to be as open as possible.

Active dealers as a guarantee for success on the market.

The submissions were equally diverse. Some dealers submitted individual promotions, others summarised many activities and sent them to our marketing department. Fortunately, there were many interesting contributions, which we then of course had to evaluate at length", says the commercial managing director Bernd Apfelbeck about this first-time event.Weidemann GmbH honoured the winners of the dealer competition on 18 October 2016 as part of an evening event in Kassel. Arneuba Landtechnik und Fahrzeuge GmbH from Schlettau in Saxony received a special award for their excellent vehicle design. Three companies received the award for continuous communication for their high level of activity on the market throughout the entire year. Marketing director Christina Heine said: "The creation and adherence to continuity in all three points with which the customer

The Wiedmann Team on Tour – Celebrated a 1st Place Finish in the Dealer Competition.Nicole Wiedmann on using the travel voucher:"On Saturday, we started our trip to Allgäu in the afternoon. comes into contact is one of the core competencies within marketing. I consider it to be particularly important that the market is constantly and sustainably handled by manufacturers and dealers – this results in a coherent brand image.” In this sense, the following companies were honoured: HFT Hebe- und Fördertechnik, sector of agricultural and commercial vehicles from Mühlhausen in Thuringia, Heinz Pieper Landtechnik from the Lower Rhine Rees-Millingen and Stephan Schönberger from Mitterskirchen in Bavaria.

The company Peiffer Land- & Gartentechnik from the Lower Rhine Grevenbroich was able to enjoy third place at the Weidemann dealer competition. An independent mailing promotion with catchy headings and a direct invitation to the customers was submitted. An appeal through direct mailing causes more work initially than, for example, an advertisement, but at the same time promises a higher efficiency and significantly less waste circulation.Imken Landmaschinen GmbH & Co. KG from Schweiburg in Lower Saxony received second place. The jury very much liked the continuous communication with a self-designed and created Weidemann-Imken motif for a wall calendar, which was distributed to customers at the start of the year. In addition, the motif on the announcement was echoed for the events dealing with the inauguration of the new exhibition hall. This included a celebration

with invited guests from agriculture, municipalities and garden technology as well as a public “warm-up green cabbage party”. The European Championship football planner given out by Weidemann in the spring was well integrated by Imken into its own inspection campaign. The winner of first place dealt thoroughly with the introduction of the fully electric 1160 eHoftrac®: the company Wiedmann from Swabian Überlingen. The company’s own colours of green and pink were the inspiration for the idea. The eHoftrac® was therefore designed in these colours in a custommade paint finish. The machine, which is affectionately named “Arnold”, was sent on an extensive tour through a number of different direct marketing promotions, which was guaranteed to attract the attention of customers.Bernd Apfelbeck’s basic conclusion about the first dealer competition is therefore positive: “We received great submissions, which showed us how imaginative and committed our dealers are and how good they have understood the orientation of Weidemann. Together with our distributors, we are building a successful future.”

Compact design, low centre of gravity, tight turning radius and powerful performance – these features have characterised the Hoftrac® series for years and still determine the success of the machines at Weidemann. With the new 1380, the Hoftrac® series is receiving another model added to it in 2017, which impresses above all with its diversity of configurations. These features likely also convinced Antonius Schulze-Averdiek when he assembled the 1380 to meet the demands on the farm together with his specialised dealer, Anton Hülsken GmbH. What he did not know, however, was that his loader would be the 100,000th machine that was produced at the North Hessian Weidemann plant. And so there was a personal handover of the machine at the breeding and training business for show jumper and riding horses Schulze Averdiek in Rosendahl-Osterwick in the Münster region."We are very pleased that the 100,000th machine happened to be a Hoftrac®. After all, the story of Weidemann took its positive course with the invention of these articulated machines. The broad product range that we drive today resulted not least from these experiences. We wish Mr Schulze Averdiek all the best with his now fourth Hoftrac®,” says Anja Heinemann, sales manager of German-speaking countries at Weidemann.

Successful horse breeding for decades.

Heidrun and Antonius Schulze Averdiek have been relying on machine support from Weidemann for a long time, more precisely since the 1980s. They are remaining true to the size class with the new machine too. They previously used a 1350. The farm was once a classic mixed operation with dairy cows and pig farming right in the middle or Rosendahl-Osterwick. In 1973, they both moved out of the town centre after a stable fire and reorganised the operation. The pigs remained and a new large stable was built for the animals. Horse breeding was added the building complex and outdoor facilities were gradually expanded in various stages. The family has also been living on the resettled farm since 1992. Grain and feed are grown for the horses on the 110 hectares of cultivated land. The breeding of internationally successful jumping and dressage horses was refined and professionalised across many animal generations. Classic riding horses are of course also raised. Together with the six qualified employees, the horses are bred, raised and individually trained according to their descent and suitability.

A red Weidemann "sportster" is part of this.

The Hoftrac® has to perform about 1,000 hours of operation at Schulze Averdiek per year. The numerous round bales made of hay and straw that are required are moved about with this machine. The fork & grab and bucket are used to muck out the horse stalls and young animal partitions. The rotary sweeper ensures that the

In the Belly of the Wall – In the Belly of the Mountain.

The Weidemann 1280 with a bucket and pallet fork is doing a special kind of "underground" operation in Switzerland.

The Swiss Gigerwaldsee is located in Calfeisen Valley in the municipality of Pfäfers in the canton of St. Gallen. Since the construction of the dam and the plant in 1976, the Sarganserland KSL power stations have been producing around 460  million kilowatt-hours of electricity every year. The KSL is thus an important regional power producer and employer. The water fed into the plant comes from the Calfeisen Valley and the neighbouring Weisstannen Valley It is collected in the

Gigerwald reservoir and runs into the central facilities of Mapragg near Vadura and Sarelli near Bad Ragaz and through the power turbines.

You could rightly say that the Gigerwald reservoir is not easily accessible: it lies between the nearly 2,000 m high rugged and steeply projecting limestone walls at the northern foot of the Ringelspitz. The reservoir is bordered in the west by the idyllic Walser river settlement of St. Martin,

which is only serviced in the summer, and the nearly 150 m high dam walls in the east. The reservoir can be reached via Bad Ragaz through the Tamina Valley. The last major village is Vättis. From there, the mountain road, and on the summer weekends a PostBus route, leads to the approximately 400 m tall dam. A narrow road on the southern shore of the lake leads through some tunnels to the former Walser river settlement of St. Martin. The road is closed in the winter due to the

danger of avalanches. Due to its seclusion, Gigerwaldsee has a great appeal to tourists and can be reached during the summer by hiking. It is also possible to visit the power plants and the adjacent geopark.

A Weidemann in application in the seclusion of the Swiss mountains.

Daily transport and logistics work in the dam and in the adjoining underground galleries led to KSL looking for a machine

that can speedily travel at 30 km/h in the up to 15 km long galleries. The 1280 from Weidemann was prepared for such an area of application and, for example, was equipped with a particle filter and a biodegradable oil. To be able to manage the low passages in the narrow and tight galleries, the machine received a fold-down operator's canopy eps (Easy Protection System). The visibility conditions underground were optimised with two additional work lights on the oscillating suspension unit.

Of course manoeuvrability played a decisive role when choosing the machine. With its inner radius of just 1.42 m and the maximum external radius, including bucket, of just 2.91 m, the machine can easily fit through tight spots. The 1280 from Weidemann is also used for cleaning and to maintain

the supply galleries to the Gigerwald dam from the town of Vättis. The whole operation takes place up to 1 km under the earth's surface. Of course you need a reliable machine here. It has been in service since November 2014 and if "something should happen", KSL can always rely on the Weidemann dealer Good Maschinencenter AG in the neighbouring town.

in particular, we even had the salt spreader attached until early May", says Andreas Witsch. In addition to the everyday tasks, the 1370 is currently used when building the attractive and high quality holiday homes in the new Chaletpark Diemelsee. Its main task here is moving stone, gravel, soil and bark mulch. In addition, it is used to transport trees that are planted in the park. A total of 20 holiday homes are to be created here by 2018, which will be available for rental or for sale. With stylish and convenient furnishings, the homes are the perfect holiday destination any time of year. For example the "Diemelsteig" hiking path can be explored and you can swim in the Diemelsee in the summer, while the close-by ski jumping world cup location Willingen invites you to ski in the winter. At the same time, the extensive offer of the lakeside hotel can also be utilised.Göbel hotels rely on the quality of Weidemann products and the associated good service. In 2010, the first Hoftrac® was procured, which has been used mainly in the main building "Göbel’s Landhotel Willingen" ever since. Meanwhile, eleven of the twelve hotels have their own Weidemann wheel loader or telehandler.

The family-run hotels around the Willingen hotelier family of Gert Göbel are all located in the heart of Germany. Not only are award-winning 4-star wellness hotels included in the company's portfolio, but also a 5-star castle hotel as well as its own brewery, which successfully brews "craft beers", and Dorf Almen, a gastronomic concept developed by Gert Göbel. Short holidaymakers, wellness lovers, families and business people will feel welcome and comfortable in the attractive hotels. Continuous investments, improvements in quality standards and well-maintained hotel properties are part of the company philosophy of Gert Göbel. Weidemann machines are used here and make a significant contribution to the attractiveness of the hotels. They are used year-round and have become "indispensable colleagues in doing work", as the company technician Matthias Hoffman believes. The handy loaders can be used with various attachments in a wide variety of areas. The quick changing of attachments is also important for a smooth sequence of operations. The loaders do not have fixed operators. They are driven by demand by different employees. "The employees are already arguing about who gets to drive the loader - thanks to the easy operability", reveals Andreas Witsch, hotel director of the "Göbel’s Seehotel Diemelsee" by the lake of the same name. The locations of the machines always rotate so that the right machine is available for the work to be done, depending on the needs.

A 1370 is thus currently in use in Heringhausen at "Göbel’s Seehotel Diemelsee". It is very helpful for all of the work to be done around the hotel. In the spring, it helps to bring all of the loungers, tables and chairs back outside. It is also used for gardening and park maintenance during this time and transports the generated green waste. The 1370 is used almost everywhere thanks to its compact design and very good manoeuvrability. Street sweeping as well as snowploughing and spreading salt in the winter are tasks where the Weidemann products are used regularly. "This year

FIS Ski Jumping World Cup of the SC Willingen.Weidemann machines provide optimal services around the clock.

When the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup is on the agenda, then it's everyone on high alert for the "Free Willies" of the Ski Club Willingen, as the volunteers are called. "There is so much to do in the run-up to this international ski sporting event that work is done virtually around the clock", says SCW president and world cup organising committee head Jürgen Hensel. And he should know, because after all everything goes through him. Just like recently at the highly praised world cup for ski jumping in Stryck Valley at the end of January 2017. Everything is only completed with a perfect interplay of man and machine.

The machines from Weidemann GmbH from Diemelsee-Flechtdorf have been providing essential services for the organisers for years. The "Weidemanns", as the versatile machines are called for short at the SCW, are working in the run-up to the international ski competitions with the best ski jumpers in the world year after year in and around the world cup stadium. "The Weidemann machines are built to be super functional and very durable. I think they're great!", says Jerome Becker, who has been driving the wheel loaders for years when setting up and breaking down the large event.

Whether clearing snow on the access routes and parking lots, spreading grit to prevent icy conditions, loading loops when preparing the ice track at the starting tower of the Mühlenkopfschanze [ski jumping hill], supplying the grill and beverage stands in the valley, or supplying the equipment and supplies for the 3,000-person tent on the largest ski jumping hill in the world, or hanging up all of the informational boards and signs that show the thousands of world cup fans the way, sometimes at dizzying heights, the Weidemann machines do all kinds of indispensable work on the way to a successful event.

"We are grateful and happy that there are companies such as Weidemann GmbH, which as a local partner has been closely connected to the Ski Club Willingen for many years and supports the world cup to the best of their abilities", says Jürgen Hensel as he praises the cooperation, which is also to continue with the FIS Ski Jump World Cup from 26-28 January 2018 on the Mühlenkopfschanze.

Around 120 employees from all trades currently work at the Elsfleth shipyard.

The pier of the Elsfleth shipyard is 420 m long and works with three cranes. Depending on the size, up to 12 ships can be in the shipyard at the same time.

The "Gorch Fock" is one of the famous regular customers of the Elsfleth shipyard.

Elsfleth shipyard – Public limited company and family-owned and run company. The Elsfleth shipyard is the specialist in repairing and converting special vessels, large yachts and passenger sailing ships on the Weser river.

The shipyard has been located on the Weser for around 100 years. After some difficult years with few investors and insolvency, an investor from Hamburg took over responsibility in 1995. The shipyard was transferred to a stock corporation and Kurt Wiechmann became the managing director. In 2011, his son Klaus Wiechmann took over the management of the business together with a befriended shipbuilder. And the next generation is already ready. Klaus Wiechmann's son is currently working in a leading position for the shipyard on the major project "Gorch Fock" as a project manager. Klaus Wiechmann knows all roughly 120 of his employees personally and maintains a personal relationship with all of them. It's a family-owned and run company that is not really one.

The company shares are entirely held by a foundation to preserve the Elsfleth shipyard. The surpluses generated are donated to a children's hospice in Hamburg. The children's hospice, however, is not the only institution that benefits from the work being done on the ships. A guest house located on the business premises, for example, is sometimes inhabited by Caritas. Additional projects, such as a facility for recreational boats in the surroundings around the shipyard are already in planning. In addition to service and marina, a winter storage facility is also to be created here.

A Weidemann for ground maintenance.

In order to maintain the currently 12 hectare grounds, a Weidemann 1350 CX45 was purchased through the Weidemann distributor Imken Landmaschinen GmbH & Co. KG a while ago. A set group of employees uses the machine on the expansive grounds. They ensure the well-maintained exterior appearance of the shipyard with sweepers, green area maintenance and winter service. In addition, the Weidemann 1350 uses the pallet fork and bucket to help load and transport different goods that are needed in everyday shipyard operation.

The "Gorch Fock" is a regular guest at the Elsfleth shipyard.

The Elsfleth shipyard has become specialised in the repair and conversion of special sips, such as ships for research, navy, rescue and the coast guard. The sailing school ship of the navy, the "Gorch Fock", is a long-term customer. "It is simply the most beautiful operating ship" gushes Klaus Wiechmann.

He could tell 100,000 stories about the classic sailing ship. Additional docks are rented for such large ships when necessary in the nearby Bremerhaven shipyard. The "Gorch Fock" has been extensively renovated and rebuilt since September 2015. Among other things, the masts are being replaced. The owners are thus hoping to extend the ship's useful life by 10 – 15 years. The tools and machines

needed for this purpose are available to the shipyard in Elsfleth as are the right specialists. The shipyard can provide all the necessary trades and is thus absolutely flexible and always capable of working.

The "New Johannisfriedhof" in Dresden has been around since 1881. Patriarchal family graves with elaborately designed monuments and memorial stones can be found on the nearly 25 hectare park facility in close proximity to modern casket, urn and tree graves. But far from all of the 37,500 grave locations are occupied. "At the moment around 9,000 of our graves are occupied" knows cemetery director Beatrice Teichmann. In addition, there are about 3,000 monuments from earlier days. Many people these days can no longer take care of maintaining the graves of their relatives so that the cemetery's own nursery of the Johannisfriedhof takes over maintenance of nearly 2,500 graves.Diverse work needs to be done in the management, care and maintenance of the resting places and park facilities, which is why the cemetery management looked for appropriate mechanical support in early 2017.

Detailed test under real application conditions.

The Weidemann distributor Arneuba was finally awarded the contract with its local partner, Kändler Garten- & Kommunaltechnik. To be able to test out the machine, Frank Süß from Arneuba provided a Weidemann 2080 for a few days. "It was not easy to have the suitably-equipped machine ready at short notice", explains the salesperson, "the Johannisfriedhof cemetery had high standards that we had to meet".

For example, Frank Süß was not able to deliver the wheel loader with the desired multi-purpose bucket on short-term, but "instead I equipped the 2080 with an oversized earth bucket that we had in stock". What was initially a shortcoming, proved to be a blessing, because the work with the earth bucket was done so well that it was also purchased in the end. "The number of different attachments that can be quickly changed and universally used was an important reason for our decision", explains Beatrice Teichmann. The cemetery management is currently planning on setting up a new waste collection system where the Weidemann is also to be used. The weight, width and tyres of the machine were also very important to the cemetery when choosing the right loader. The Johannisfriedhof facility has mostly sandy soils with narrow, old and sand-washed new paths. The machine had to be narrow

enough and at the same time not place a great deal of weight on the ground so as not to excessively strain the meadows and the paths. The Weidemann 2080 with a total width of 1.68 m (over tyres) and ground-friendly lawn tyres met this important criterion comparatively well.

Pleasant product design.

Sven Petzold, one of the four Weidemann operators at Johannisfriedhof, adds: "We have to do a lot of our work during the day when many visitors are at the cemetery. A Weidemann is not as conspicuous as a construction machine, which is much better for our visitors". The noise level was also lower compared to other loaders, which in turn increases the level of acceptance during ongoing operation. The Weidemann 2080 just fits well with the Johannisfriedhof in Dresden.

A place of diverse encounters: the Protestant-Lutheran Johannisfriedhof cemetery, one of the largest and most beautiful cemeteries in Germany, is located in the Dresden district of Tolkewitz. The cemetery relies on help from Weidemann to maintain and care for the expansive park facilities.

For the Living and for the Dead.

A Big Lifelong Dream and Lots of Courage to Face Life.A riding accident changed her plans for her own horse farm, but Margret Adrian did not give up and found a new home at Gut Berlinghoff in Böne in Westphalia.

There are blows of fate that cannot be anticipated and that fundamentally change people's lives. And so it happened to financial consultant Margret Adrian, who as a passionate rider in dressage riding already passed the S-class with her Trakehner grey horse Cefir and had specific plans to build her own riding facility. In November 2014, she had a tragic accident: she broke her spine when she fell from her horse and has been in a wheelchair ever since. On the first day of the Christmas holiday, Margret Adrian had her birthday and was immensely surprised when her daughter and her rider friends stood outside the hospital with her two horses in the trailer as a birthday gift. This special moment moved her so much that she decided not to give up on her plans for her own horse farm. While still in the hospital, she did research on buying suitable property and family and friends actively helped

her with her project. The plan now focused on a horse boarding business aimed at owners of older horses that can no longer be actively ridden.

A historic farm and a big project.

The choice ultimately fell on Gut Berlinghoff, which is located between Hamm and Dortmund. Part of the historic half-timbered facility dates from the year 1839. Part of the farm used to be a bakery for the village, which still exists to this day. The grain for the baker was stored in the barns. "We saw the farm and immediately said: This is it!" One barn has already been converted for 12 horses. It contains very spacious stalls. The farm has 2.5 hectares of land, which ensures the run-out for the horses and the feed is purchased. The conversion of the second large barn into a cat boarding facility is in full swing. The location of the farm is ideal for this offer. Several apartments are being built in the large main house. Together with Margret Adrian, the horse owner Anke Barenbräucker and her 15-year old son Niklas live and work on the farm. They are a committed team in all matters.

The 1160 eHoftrac® was there from the start.

The directly adjacent residential area brought Margret Adrian the emission-free loader together with the Weidemann sales consultant Kai Hohoff from Mesche Landtechnik. "With the eHoftrac®, we can work on our farm whenever we want without disturbing the residents. In addition, I only need a normal outlet to be able to operate the machine. I didn't want to have a diesel drum on the farm either", says Margret Adrian about the benefits of the electric loader. The eHoftrac® is currently being used in a dual function: on the one hand, it supplies the horses with hay

and straw bales, fetches the feed, helps muck out the stalls and hauls away the grass clippings. A bucket, a fork & grab, a bale fork and a pallet fork are available for this purpose. On the other hand, part of these attachments are of course used to actively support construction work on the farm.

The Weidemann magazine would like to visit the farm once again after it is done. We wish Margret Adrian and their team all the best for the upcoming conversion work!

"I am now 58 years old - my specific goal is to have the farm completely

done by my 60th birthday".

Two Weidemann Evenings with Janson in Diemelsee-Adorf and Gudensberg.Christian Janson Landtechnik GmbH entered into a co-operation with Weidemann GmbH on 01 January 2017. The Hoftracs®, wheel loaders and telescopic wheel loaders as well as telehandlers were integrated in the brand product range to be able to offer customers a leading loader technology for the domestic sector in addition to the main brands of Deutz, Krone and Lemken. Janson had recently opened the other location in Gudensberg in September 2016. Good area coverage is to be ensured with this step.

At the two major events on 15 and 17 February 2017 in Diemelsee-Adorf and Gudensberg, the 150 customers present from the fields of agriculture and the equine industry were invited to watch the new Weidemann products and features and the current product range life. The workshops of both locations were quickly converted into event stages with beautiful and attractive coloured accent lighting and the help of projection technology.

"We at Janson are very pleased to be able to offer our customers

sophisticated products for all transport and loading work with the

expanded offer, especially for the domestic market. However, this offer is of course also aimed at many other industries, such as municipalities and

various commercial enterprises".

Dirk Schmidt, managing director of Christian Janson Landtechnik GmbH

"We have a professional partner on our side since we started

the cooperation between Weidemann and Janson in our

home northern Hesse area. "We are looking forward to good and

comprehensive servicing".

Anja Heinemann, sales director for German-speaking

countries at Weidemann

"As a new loader specialist, I am looking forward to being able

to advise our customers on the solution for their diverse work

tasks so intensively that they are super satisfied with their machine in daily application. For me, it is very important that I can identify

with what I sell. With Weidemann, I work with high quality machines

that keep their promises!"

Christian Landgrebe, Weidemann specialist at Janson

The Janson managing director Dirk Schmidt welcomed the guests and introduced the Janson team, which will be working intensively with the Weidemann brand in the future. The machine presentations focused on the tremendous versatility, the high functional scope and the very interesting innovations that modern loaders and telehandler offer to their users these days. For practitioners, the varied moderated topic blocks were of

particular interest where the Weidemann loaders were presented with the most diverse attachments. Video clips were used to illustrate the diverse possibilities of the machines as device carriers. Then the loader specialists were available for questions about the machines.

Agriculture, the equine industry, municipalities, nurseries, industry & trade – the diverse product range makes the "Weidemann" into the perfect helper for any job. What developments do you see as important criteria for the future in the sectors named? What future questions does Weidemann need to have an answer for with its products?

Karsten Kraft: As a manufacturer, we have been of course continuously dealing with the topic of product safety. Nationally and internationally, the guidelines for operator safety and machine approvals are also adapted to the circumstances at the businesses. We have different country-specific requirements that we have to take into consideration, from Norway to Italy. In addition, we act and design and development very cost effectively. It's an aspect that has become increasingly important in recent years in saturated markets. The competitive capability of Weidemann depends on this to a decisive extent. However this also relates to the performance parameters and the efficiency of our machines at customers' businesses. The application of machines is measured economically these days.

The development of the company Weidemann over decades from a small family-owned and operated company to a leading supplier in loading technology has been greatly characterised by generations of machines that have always been up to ate and have always completely met customer requirements. What are our customers doing at their businesses? What tasks must customers manage? And finally: where is the journey leading the customer? How is the customer's industry and business continuing to develop? There are a lot of things to constantly keep in mind if machines are to be designed optimally as regards performance and price. The international sector also plays a role here: new requirements that we encounter allow us to constantly learn something new. This also benefits established markets. For example, the rear control circuit required by Scandinavia a few years ago for the hydraulic operation of rear attachments has also become established in core markets like Germany and Austria. What's everyday work like in your design department? Where do your ideas, stimuli, etc. come from?

Karsten Kraft: I find my work at Weidemann to be very diverse: my responsibilities include pre-development, new development, series

management, prototyping and quality assurance in design and development. The are of pre-development is a particularly special area. In this team, we assess future developments and derive new trends for Weidemann.

In the design and development area, we work together on a project basis in interdisciplinary teams. In addition, we continue to work in parallel on different topics, depending on what status these have within our product development process. One machine is first starting with the product development requirements while another is already about to be launched on the market. All of this makes my everyday work naturally quite varied, but you also have to be able to think about the different topics very quickly and keep everything up to date.

Considering all legal regulations and standards as well as the requirements for operator safety forms the framework here, i.e. the basic structure, within which we can and must operate. But we can't forget about one thing: I think including new ideas and suggestions, such as through active dialogue with our dealers and customers, is very important so that we can stay on the ball. Working in different teams allows us to promote internal communication, which in turn advances each of us further individually. Fortunately we have many employees in the developer teams who come from agriculture or who are very familiar with the sector so that we know exactly what we are talking about.

The current technical capabilities offered by our suppliers are also very crucial for our work. Sometimes Weidemann has us pass on a requirement to our suppliers, which poses a challenge for them. This is also an active interaction, which speaks in favour of a good end product. Machine manufacture depends on a high level of mutual activity.

4 questions for… Karsten Kraft, Head of product development.

Karsten Kraft, Head of Product Development.

What benefits do Weidemann products offer customers? What sets them apart from other products? What are the most important arguments for a Weidemann?

Karsten Kraft: "The Weidemann products arrive at the customers' locations tailor-made, i.e. starting from the already very well-equipped base models finely tiered in their level of performance, every machine is individually configured to the business's requirements and needs in consultation with our specialised dealers. Customers ultimately only pay for the features they have installed in the Weidemann machine. The range of machines is technically and functionally at the latest state of technology. With Weidemann, customers get features that other machine manufacturers do not offer, such as the driver assistance system vls (Vertical Lift System) with the small compact telehandlers. The high level of service and serviceability with the laterally tiltable drivers' cabs or cabins is also a unique selling point. It is also very important for us how the machines are handled during maintenance at the business locations or in the workshop. The high level of product quality created at our modern plant in Korbach in northern Hesse is a guarantee of the longevity of the machines and the high resale value".

Are there new technologies that are of interest to Weidemann's product development? If yes, what are they?

Karsten Kraft: The new and gradually increasing exhaust emission standards are a high priority for us at Weidemann. A great deal of development work is required to be able to meet the stringent standards. We are right in the middle, so to speak, with the levels Tier IV final and Tier V. But there's something behind this: environmental protection with respect to reducing fuel consumption is to become an international top climate goal of modern companies. Governments are specifically stipulating the course for this. Ultimately the reduction of exhaust fumes and also of noise emissions will lead to improved working conditions for people and also improved well-being of animals on agricultural operations. One product that combines these aspects already is our 1160 eHoftrac® with a fully electric drive and battery. It is a technology that is pioneering on the market and that reflects Weidemann's power of innovation. We also expect rapid continued development in this area. They are topics that are very exciting for the entire development team.

Kruse Milk & Energy – Well-Positioned for the Future.Henning Kruse is an experienced farmer ready for risks. When it comes to charging technology, however, he relies on the security of Weidemann.

Weidemann distributor Ralf Schnitger (Imken Landmaschinen) and Henning Kruse.

Henning Kruse has two Weidemann machines in use on his main farm in Butzhausen in Lower Saxony. The small 1140 reliably takes care of all work around the stables. This stable houses 300 dairy cows. After 14 days in individual igloos, the offspring are brought to the operating site on the other side of the street with the Weidemann 1140. The calves are raised in larger groups here for up to three months.Henning Kruse also uses a Weidemann 4080T at the location. The large wheel loader fills the biogas plant and the feed mixer, mucks out stables and otherwise takes care of other hard work to be done. "Both Weidemann machines are constantly in application", explains the farmer and energy

farmer. In addition to animal husbandry and biogas systems at several locations, Kruse Milch & Energie also operates three photovoltaics systems on a total roof area of around 6,400 m².

"The topic of energy basically saved my milk production", explains Henning Kruse. When GbR was dissolved with its brother in 2011/2012, the trained farmer faced the decision of terminating his employees or chancing another big step. But his responsibility towards his family and employees led him to look for other opportunities. The construction of a biogas and photovoltaics system promised new opportunities. However, the funding for the consumption of self-generated electricity was to stop in early 2012 so that the gamble was not worthwhile. Another dead end. Nevertheless, the master farmer attended the "New Energy" trade fair in Husum with his apprentice. A chain of coincidences here provided for the future of his company: due to sudden sea fog, he wasn't able take the return flight home. In the hotel, he then met a representative of the ministry of economics, who told him that there would be an exemption clause for the EEG2012, for started PV projects that would be done by 30 June 2012. He had hardly arrived home when Henning Kruse filed for construction and credit

applications and ordered building materials. "I put everything on one card", he remembers. "While the proposals were still being discussed in the front, we were already building in the back". In the end, it all turned out and the energy farmer was able to prove the connection of his third photovoltaic system to the power grid on 30 June 2012 on time. "We certainly had to make some concessions." The entire building is therefore on a wooden structure, since steel construction is subject to a longer planning process. The animals were first able to move in about 18 months later, because the permit for change use here took longer than desired. Today the facility in Butzhausen is well-utilised with the 482 kWp photovoltaic system, a 75 kW biogas system and 300 dairy cows. As exciting as the start was, the operation is now also running constantly and continuously thanks to two reliable and powerful Weidemann machines.
