Red is a colour which shows anger and love. Both emotions and meanings contrast each other greatly and so is suitable for a rock magazine because the stereotype of rock fans is that they are aggressive and so to use red to not only show aggression, but also love, it appeals to different demographics.

Orange as a colour represents energy which has always been a main feature in rock culture due to the types of gigs and bands involved. For example, most rock gigs are standing and involve a lot of energy to get through.

Black and White highly contrast each other because black is usually used to represent ‘evil’ where as white is used to represent purity. Black is also the main colour used to represent rock due to it being the dark ‘colour’. It is also a colour that is said to match everything and so is the easiest colour to use in any magazine.
