I plan on targeting my music magazine at the indie/rock chick crowd. This is due to the fact that the rock magazines out there are mostly aimed at men and there is a gap in the market for this kind of magazine.

My target audience would be females between the ages of 16 and 25.

Some image search results for “Rock Chick” and “Indie Chick” in Google:

From the Rock Sounds website I can see that the music focuses on what the band is doing at the time of interview and latest album releases.

The colour scheme they use is mainly black, white, red, blue and yellow nut occasionally they use a different colour this could be to relate to the featured band.

The magazine cover is clearly layered with the masthead behind the cut out image of the band, then advertisement plugs and name of featured band is then layered above the image to make it stand out. This could be to attract fans of the band to buy the magazine.

The magazine has an extensive review section, featuring: new releases (music), reissues (music), music compilations, film and live concert reviews, as well as radio and television reviews.

Mostly men readers who are over the age of 30.

For people with a “passion for music is not retrospective.”

Magazine covers all use the same logo/masthead and layer there images however it find the way they lay the front cover out to be square this could be described as plain an unattractive.

Colour scheme is continuous. Red, white, black and gold.
