EMPIRE Mainstream audience- Captain

America, targeted at a male audience

Comic book figure Captain America is centre of

frame fill image – eye catching, bold, straight to the point

The colour scheme is similar to the character and the film

Older target market; mainly men aged 25+

On the cover it also mentions other films that will feature in the magazine, letting the audience know that other film reviews are available

The caption at the bottom ‘SAY HELLO TO OUR BIG SCARFACE SPECIAL’ shows sense of humour, as fans would recognise it’s from Scarface and therefore would be even more intrigued by the magazine.

Little White Lies are a British independent movie magazine that features writing, illustration and photography related to cinema. Their target audience are creative, artistic youngsters.

At the bottom of the title it mentions “The first in fright since 1979” which suggest the magazine is selling themselves based on their history

This magazine cover attracts the niche market of ‘geeks’ who know their horror films.

This magazine cover would not appeal to our target audience as it specialises in the genres of slasher, splatter and exploitation films, thus the front cover is of THE EXORCIST.
