Access is easy and well sign-posted. Trains run from 6 a.m. through to 1:30 a.m. The new terminal can be reached by Metro from Bajaras station (the end of line 8) by EMT bus 201 and from Aeropuerto station by the free AENA shuttle buses that run between termi- nals T2, T3 and T4. There are several EMT bus connections to Madrid-Barajas Airport: Terminals : access on route 200 from Avenida de America (con- nections with Metro lines 4, 6, 7 and 9) or on route 101 from Canillejas (con- nection with Metro line 5). New Terminal : access on route 204 from Avenida de America (connec- tions with Metro lines 4, 6, 7 and 9) or on route 201 from Barajas (connection with Metro line 8). Service timetables vary from one route to another, but the services generally operate between 6 o’clock in the morning and 11 o’clock at night. If you use two bus routes or the metro and a bus, you will have to buy two tick- ets unless you use a travel pass (Multi-Mode Passes). Route 822 leaves from terminal to the city of Coslada and its Local Railway Station. Route 827 leaves from terminal to the cities of Alcobendas, San Sebastián de los Reyes and Tres Cantos, and with the Canillejas Metro Station (to Madrid). Service timetables vary from one route to another, but they run from 6 o’clock in the morning until 11 o’clock at night. LOCAL RAILWAY LINES: There is no Renfe local railway station that provides direct access to Madrid – Barajas Airport, but Metro line offers a 12-minute connection between the Nuevos Ministerios railway station and the airport. From this train terminus, you can change to the long distance railway stations of Chamartin and Atocha. High speed trains (AVE) leave from Atocha. OTHER MODES OF TRANSPORT 827 822 TO THE AIRPORT BY SUBURBAN BUS 200 101 201 204 TO THE AIRPORT BY EMT CITY BUS TO THE AIRPORT BY METRO The Airport metro station (Aeropuerto) and all EMT city bus stops situated within the limits of Madrid-Barajas Airport form part of fare zone “A”, which also includes the whole City of Madrid. There are three metro fare areas in Madrid: METROMADRID: The area of the Metro network included in fare zone A of the City of Madrid. Aeropuerto station is included in this area. TFM: The section of line 9 in fare zones B1, B2 and B3. METROSUR: Line 12 (zones B1 and B2) and the section of line 10 in fare zone B1. METRO COMBINED TICKET - Valid for a single journey throughout the Madrid Metro network, on any route and on any day of the week. SINGLE TICKET - Three formats, valid for a single journey between stations in one of the three areas of the network, on any day of the week. 10-JOURNEY TICKET - Three formats, valid for 10 journeys between stations in one of the three areas of the network, on any day of the week. The MetroMadrid or MetroBus 10- journey ticket is also valid on all the EMT bus lines The single ticket, which is valid for one journey on one line, costs 1.00 € and can be purchased directly on the bus. The MetroBus or 10-journey ticket costs 6.15 € and can be purchased at tobacconist’s, newsstands and Metro stations. This ticket is also valid in zone A of the Metro network. TRAVEL PASS This is a personal ticket of unlimited use on all bus lines, the sub- urban rail network and the Metro network, within the period of validity and the chosen zone. There are various types of monthly passes: - Normal Pass: 21 to 64 years. - Youth Pass: Less than 21. - Senior Pass: 65 and over. The Travel Pass fares for the year 2006 are: TOURIST TRAVEL PASS The Tourist Pass is a personal ticket for travelling around Madrid over a certain number of days: 1, 2, 3, 5 and 7 calendar days. The period of validity begins on the day on which you use the ticket the first time. You can choose between two zones: - Zona A, which practically coincides with the City of Madrid, where you can use all the modes of transport included in this zone. - Zone T, which covers all public transport services in the Region of Madrid, including inter-city buses, and their exten- sions to Guadalajara and Toledo, but they are not valid for Renfe regional train services. Madrid - Barajas Airport has a Metro station on line :
