MACFUGE type NO PT 3S - FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
The mixture to separate is continuously fed (1) and enter in the fast rotating bowl through the stationary feed pipe (9). The distributor (10) accelerates and convey the product to the discs stack (11) where the different phases are separated. The liquid phases are extracted by centripetal pumps (7,8), while the solid phase is collected in the sludge space (12). When the PLC gives the command for discharging, operating the solenoid valve group (5), the bowl “open” and the solid flow outside in the basin through the discharging ports(12), and from here to the solid discharge outlet (4)

Adjustable Heavy Phase centripetal pump (variable paring tube)
Adjustable heavy phase centripetal pump The geometry of the heavy phase centripetal pump is manually adjustable during the process. Any variation correspond to a different distribution of the phases inside the bowl, thus adapting the separation to different product properties (feed composition)

Transmission and Lubrication
8
Lubrication: The lubricating oil is contained in a closed carter, and lubricate thanks to the movement of the gears. The fine tolerance of construction of the driving system allows for no need of lubricating pump, nor cooling system, nor temperature control.
Direct Transmission: The movement is transmitted from the motor directly to the gear through a mechanical coupling without clutch. The motor is driven by a frequency converter that dispense the power and control its absorption. The electronic control allows to obtain a smooth start up and stop, and to dose the power during the sludge discharge operation (bowl cleaning) The frequency converter also control the speed and current absorption, monitoring the status of the centrifuge (see also discharging system) and generating alarm

Discharge System The system is very simple and flexible allowing for total and partial discharge by setting in the PLC the interval and the frequency times. The discharging volume is set by setting the opening time The discharge frequency is set by setting the interval between each total discharge and partial discharge. The bowl is kept closed by the force generated by the centrifugal force on a small amount of water contained in a special channel below the bowl bottom. The opening/closing of the solenoid valve modify this force, allowing the water to “escape” or to “enter”, so causing the opening and closing of the bowl The water in the channel is kept constant by the PLC that introduce the necessary water from the water supply (min pressure need 1,5bar)

Main Advantage Possibility to select and regulated any volume by just setting different opening time within the allowed interval Solenoid valves mounted on board No needs for extra equipment Monitoring and Alarms Thanks to the control of the PLC connected with the Frequency converter, the system generate three alarms: - Bowl not closing properly - Bowl not opening - Unexpected Bowl opening

Junction box for electrical and hydraulic connections
Junction box A box for the electrical connection is mounted on the centrifuge frame of the bigger MACFUGE models
Hydraulic connections On the centrifuge is installed a set of all the hydraulic connections and solenoid valves necessary for the feed and the control of: • manoeuvring water • washing/cooling water • fluidification of the heavy phase • sight glass washing

DISC STACK
Internal design and configuration specifically conceived for the application. New concept of discs stack: two
different disc designs to perform a better separation, maintain fluidity and even product distribution. To avoid sticky of the solid phase., with consequent clocking of disc channels and separation efficiency reduction
The bowl contains an high number of discs : 50% of one design, 50% of the other one

BOWL SHAPE
Internal design and configuration specifically conceived for the application.
Double angle in the solid discharge chamber, enlarged in the discharge zone, for better and more reliable discharge, larger space for solid and paste accumulation to avoid separation disturbance

DISTRIBUTOR
Accellerating Wings The internal channel of the distributor contains special wings that get in contact with the product at closest radius, thus working as surface and channeling, accompanying the smooth accelleration of the fluid
Shaped Nut The nut where the fluid “fell” is shaped to invite the fluid itself towards the distribution channels

Solution for easy and safe maintenance
Lifting of the bowl without removing the lock ring The bowl design allows to remove the same from the centrifuge body without unscrewing the lock ring. This is thanks to a special tool that allow to remove the bowl nut, securing the bowl to the vertical shaft, just after removing the inlet/outlet groups. No needs to hammering the lock ring while the bowl is still mounted on the bearing seat, with risk of damaging the bearing and the shaft.
