Abraham’s Land or the Genesis Land

This picture is of the land Abraham stood on when God walked him outside of his tent and told him to look upward. Abraham’s heirs would be as many as the stars in the sky.

The Bible is inspired by God Himself! It is His Word, containing His wisdom, His goodness, His intentions, His judgements, and His Heart. Come spend time with us in His Word!

This Week’s Sunday Morning Bible Study at 9:30 a.m. Adults: Topic of the Month: God Requires Justice For the next five weeks, our lessons are from four of the minor prophets. The prophets issue God’s call for justice in the conduct of human affairs. Amos, Habakkuk, Micah, and Malachi convey that the laws of God require justice for the poor and the oppressed. Lessons from Micah and Malachi are studies of the responsibilities of leaders for practicing justice. Lesson for Sunday, March 15, 2020: A Prayer for Justice Habakkuk 2:6-14 Devotional Reading: Psalm 130 People seem not to suffer for their unjust actions. The psalmist affirms that God will reward the just, and Habakkuk declares that the unjust will be punished for wickedness.

***PARENTS PLEASE NOTE*** If no children have arrived for Sunday Bible study class by 10 a.m., the teachers will attend the adult class. We encourage you and your children to arrive at the church by 9:30 a.m.

Charlotte's Web is based on E.B. White's loving story of the friendship between a pig named Wilbur and a little gray spider named Charlotte. Wilbur has a problem: how to avoid winding up as pork chops! Charlotte, a fine writer and true friend, hits on a plan to fool Farmer Zuckerman. She will create a "miracle." Spinning the words "Some Pig" in her web, Charlotte weaves a solution which not only makes Wilbur a prize pig but also ensures his place on the farm forever. This treasured tale, featuring madcap and endearing farm animals, explores bravery, selfless love and the true meaning of friendship.

"CONNECTING YOUTH WITH PATHWAYS TO SUCCESS"

Are you interested in getting valuable and PAID job experience and learning more about potential career paths this summer? Come to one of our interest meetings where Voyage and Kids Making It staff will be on site to explain more about the program! The Summer Employment Program is an 8-week summer jobs program that provides in-depth workforce development for 15-19-year-old students facing barriers to employment through individualized job skills training, financial literacy classes, career readiness certification, ongoing mentoring, and paid work experiences. Are you currently a high school student in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade? Are you looking for real job experience and an opportunity to grow your workplace skills that will provide you with a path to success? And, get paid? If you answered yes, look no further. Experience is crucial for being competitive in applying for jobs, and our program allows you to develop your resume while getting paid for the meaningful work that you do!

Here's what previous job sites have said about the program!

"We had two wonderful young ladies who worked with us this summer. They were fantastic additions to our team. We were so sorry to see them go at the end of the summer and we have offered to employ them for the school year. I cannot wait to partner in the future. We just have had the best experience!" Cape Fear Museum "We had numerous workers and they got exposed to different things throughout our organization. We were able to utilize them with our cop camp summer program, and with helping us out with various administrative tasks throughout the agency. We are excited and we look forward to this again next summer." Wilmington Police Department

New Work Management Supervisor

It is with great pleasure to announce that Sharon Respus will be the new Work Management Supervisor for the Duncan Centralized Invoicing team. Sharon has been an employee at Duke Energy since March 2018 working in the Centralized Invoicing group. Sharon brings 14 years of experience with the utility industry and holds a Bachelor of Science degree, Master of Science degree, in Business Administration, and is currently enrolled in the Doctoral Program at Liberty University, where she is pursuing a

DBA. Sharon is the proud mother of a rising High School Senior, Christina. She enjoys serving at her local church, reading, rocking in her chair on the front porch, and guiltily indulging in caramel pecan Cinnabons.

Sharon’s effective date for her new role will be March 16th.

Congratulations Reverend Sharon Respus

Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) The United Way of the Cape Fear Area sponsors a federally funded program working diligently to not only offer experienced workers to potential employers and community based organizations, but to dispel the myth that older workers lack the ability to contribute to the local workforce. Launched in 1965, SCSEP is authorized under Title V of the Older Americans Act

and is administered by the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL). The United Way of the Cape Fear Area has been the local project sponsor for SCSEP since 1977 and is funded through an agreement with Senior Service America, Inc. As the local SCSEP sponsor, the United Way of the Cape Fear Area has formed lasting partnerships with an array of non-profit and government organizations. Participants in the program work 20 hours per week at an assigned Host Agency work site and are paid the state minimum wage utilizing grant funds. A brief snapshot of the program reveals that on average 63 SCSEP Participants provide over 1,200 hours weekly in support to local agencies, while weekly wages paid to the Participants average $8,700. Reading Plan - Daily Psalm Read one Psalm per day for a spiritual boost!

Plan Length: 150 days Estimated Completion Date: Sunday, May 31, 2020

Tips on Reading the Bible Daily 1. Start reading the Bible today -- there is no better time, and there's no reason to wait. 2. Set aside a specific time each day. Set your schedule and then stick to it. Mornings are great,

but feel free to use any time that works consistently for you. 3. Read the Bible for the sake of learning, not simply to accomplish your next reading. Say a short

prayer to God before you begin, asking the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom and understanding, then be refreshed by the words you read!
