We raised more than £200m through fundraising for the second year running.

More than £27m came flooding in as a result of the 25th anniversary of our flagship fundraising event, the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning. That’s a whole lot of coffee and cake!

Our amazing volunteer groups and committees raised more than £8m yet again.

Our ever-inspiring volunteers have been helping us support our corporate partners' fundraising across the UK. In just one example, they raised more than £200,000 from collections at Argos and M&S stores.

Our volunteers helped the Macmillan Support Line respond to more than 144,000 calls from people affected by cancer.

More than 32,000 people affected by cancer received a Macmillan Grant. Also, grants advocate volunteers accessed grants from partner organisations for 169 people affected by cancer, totalling more than £85,000.

It’s estimated that Macmillan nurses provided essential support to more than 590,000 people. And our information centres – environments where our volunteers are very active – supported more than 285,000 people.

All figures were draft and unaudited at time of publication. Our actual figures will be published in our Annual Report in July.

By getting involved in everything from lending an ear in our information centres to fundraising at our events, volunteers like you help us to support people when they need it most. 2015 was another fantastic year for Macmillan and your incredible efforts continue to be crucial. Together we can make sure no one has to face cancer alone.

Our volunteers are amazing. Whether you spare minutes or months, hours or days, the time you give by volunteering with Macmillan really does matter.

After being diagnosed with cancer, Fiona was determined to give something back to Macmillan. Three years, more than £100,000 raised, and one Volunteer Award later, she is achieving her ambition in phenomenal style.

‘I was diagnosed with a brain tumour in October 2008. I thought my life was over but I had a team of Macmillan nurses who allayed my fears from the offset,’ she says. ‘I want to make sure that anyone else going through a cancer diagnosis receives the same treatment and support that I did, and that’s why I started fundraising for Macmillan.’

Fiona founded a local fundraising group called The Merry Macs of Lincoln in 2013. Under her inspirational leadership the group has hosted all kinds of events from supermarket collections and quiz nights to glitzy

balls. Fiona also took part in our campaign to encourage people to leave a gift in their will to Macmillan.

‘It was emotional and made me think about the legacy I wanted to leave. Winning a Macmillan Volunteer Award this year has been great in that sense – it’s something to show my son what I’ve achieved.’

We’re so grateful to all of our volunteers for their incredible ongoing efforts. With 2.5 million people now living with cancer, every minute that every volunteer gives really matters.
