Whyacomboofthemostlessex-pensive Mundorf AMT tweeter and themost less expensive Accuton CeramicMid-Woofer?Simply becauseof thebe-forehanddefinedtask,whichwasnoteasytoachieve:ToofferaHi-EndSpeakerKitasaffordableasanypossiblebut,sametime,clearlyoutperformingallcompetingkitsbybeingat leastone levelsuperior.AkitwhichofbothMundorfandAccutoncompanywouldbeproudof!And,finally,akitthateverybodycaneasilyassembleintoaneasy-to-buildbut thoughtfullyde-signedcabinet.Nicelydesignedandac-curatelyengineeredtotheCeramicwoo-fer’sparticularsandproperties.

Thecrossoverlayoutispurelyseri-al,thustherearenoparallelcomponentsintheentirecrossover.Also,thelayoutisdoneforbi-wiringresp.bi-amping.Cros-sover frequency is 3450Hz. High-passand low-pass are 1st. order/6dB filters,designedasaNotch-Filter inbothhigh-passandlow-passfilters.ANotch-Filteris basically a band-pass filter in serieswiring,which, amongst others, helps toeliminatepeaksinthefrequencyrespon-seofaloudspeaker,hence,itisforline-arizationpurpose.

The accurate cabinet volume fortheMA30kit is11.5 litres (0.5 l for thecrossovernetwork).Acabinetblueprintisincluded in the scope of delivery.Whenarrangingthecabinet,careshouldbeta-kentoensurethattheverticalinstallationdifferenceof18mmisadheredtoforcor-rect response time correction, so eitherthewoofer/midrangespeaker is installedinfrontortheAMTtweeterisinstalledinreverse.

Electrically and physically, com-pany Thiel&Partnerresp.Accuton‘sen-gineerswere fundamentally responsible.They are utterly accustomed to matchtheir drivers with Mundorf Xover partsbecause they are Accuton’s OEM de-velopmentpartseversince.Moreimport-antly, theseengineers really know theirdriversinsideoutandbetterthananybo-dyelseintermsofthedriver‘sgivenprosand cons. Hence, the Accuton peoplearethemostskilledmatch-makerswhenitcomestoAccutonCeramicdriversandourbuildingparts.However,thefinalmu-sicaltuningwasultimatelydeterminedbyMundorfengineersandemployeesinnu-merousjointlisteningsessions.

Ready-madeorkitcabinetsfortheMA30KitarenotavailablefromMundorf.The cabinets shown in brochures, au-dio magazines and at exhibitions wereproduced by well-known cabinet manu-facturers inAsia in accordancewith ourblueprintforourlocalandinternationalkitdistributors and, based on an individualservice agreement, were also deliveredfullyassembledasfactoryassembledkits.

Oneofthereasons,forsure,isthehighqualitydriversbuiltintoit.Butthekeyingredientisun-questionablyitssophisticated6dBcrossoverwithnotchfilters,madewiththebestMundorfcrossovercomponentsfortoguaranteeaveryneutraltonalmatchingofthespeakerkit.Ultimately,itisthemusicwhichshouldbareitscharacteranditssoul,notthespeakers.
