SCTP Configuration: Configuring Peer Local and Remote

Step 1

ITP(config)#cs7 local-peer local-port-number

Specifies the local peer and puts you in local-peer submode.

Step 2

ITP(config-cs7-lp)#local-ip address

Configures the IP address for this local peer instance.

repeat this step NOW to configure backup IP addresses for this local end-point. 1.1.1

Assignment of links to Linksets: Configuring SCTP Links

ITP(config-cs7-ls)# link slc sctp remote-ip-addr

M2PA using SCTP Multihoming

SCTP Multihoming allows M2PA links to have an additional layer of redundancy.

Up to 4 IP addresses can be used as endpoints for SCTP associations.

In case of IP network failure on primary IP addresses, SCTP will automatically handle using backup IP addresses to maintain connectivity transparently to MTP3 & above (less processing)

• MTP3 Changeover

MTP3 must retrieve messages from layer2 and insert them on the alternate layer3 linkset

•SCTP Multi-Homing

Less processor intensive. the MTP3 link and linkset status does not change.

Updating the Route Table with CLI

To add a route to the Cisco ITP route table, use the following command in global configuration mode:

ITP(config)# cs7 route-table system

ITP(config-cs7-rt)# update route point-code [mask | length] linkset ls-name [priority priority-value 1 ] [qos-class class]

Note. The smaller the number, the higher the priority.

Example:

ITP(config-cs7-rt)# update route 1-2-1/24 linkset HLR_Milan priority 1

Saving / loading the Route Table

ITP# cs7 save route-table name url Save the route table to a file.

The newly created file can be used with the load route-table sub-command to populate the route table upon ITP startup.

On a 2651 ITP type: (ITP-cs7-rt)# load flash:name

On a 7500 ITP type(ITP-cs7-rt)# load slot0:name

Using SGM for the Route Table

On SGM:

1. Select ITP, edit the Route Table

2. Populate the Route Table with Route Table Editor

3. Save to File (Default name hostname.rou)

On ITP

1. Copy tftp the file into the ITP Flash

2. Load the File from Flash

Page 18: M2PA MTP3 Lab(Tuesday)

Loading the Route Table into the ITP

1- ITP# copy tftp://filename slot0:

2 –(config)# cs7 route-table system

3 –(config-cs7-rt)# load slot0:filename

On ITP 7500

1- ITP# copy tftp://filename flash:

2 –(config)# cs7 route-table system

3 –(config-cs-rt)# load flash:filename

On ITP 2651

Exercise 4 : Routing with SGM

Edit your routing table on SGM and add up a route

Copy your route table on flash and load it.

Example :

ITP#copy tftp://10.10.10.24/sgm/routes/itp2600a.rou flash:

Ping cs7 all nodes in the network.
