THE HOLY COMMUNION

Anthem at the Offertory Charles Villiers Stanford (1852-1924) O for a closer walk with God, A calm and heavenly frame; A light to shine upon the road That leads me to the Lamb!

Return, O holy dove, return, Sweet messenger of rest; I hate the sins that made thee mourn, And drove thee from my breast.

So shall my walk be close with God, Calm and serene my frame; So purer light shall mark the road That leads me to the Lamb. (William Cowper)

In the hour of my distress,  When temptations me oppress,  And when I my sins confess,           Sweet Spirit, comfort me!

When I lie within my bed,  Sick in heart and sick in head,  And with doubts discomforted,           Sweet Spirit, comfort me!

When the house doth sigh and weep,  And the world is drown'd in sleep,  Yet mine eyes the watch do keep,           Sweet Spirit, comfort me!  (Robert Herrick)

Sending of Eucharistic Visitors

Celebrant We send you out bearing these holy gifts, that those to whom you go may share with us in the communion of Christ’s body and blood. People We who are many are one body, for we share one bread and one cup.

Postcommunion Prayer Celebrant and People Almighty and everliving God, we thank you for feeding us with the spiritual food of the most precious Body and Blood of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ; and for assuring us in these holy mysteries that we are living members of the Body of your Son, and heirs of your eternal kingdom. And now, Father, send us out to do the work you have given us to do, to love and serve you as faithful witnesses of Christ our Lord. To him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen.
