INTRODUCTION
1. M/s Maa Bricks has applied for a brick soil mining over an area of 3.52 Acres (1.42 Ha)
at Mouza -Tetebanda Rampur, P.O. -T.B.Rampur, P.S. - Silli,District -Ranchi,
Jharkhand.
2. A brick is building material used to make walls, pavements and other elements
in masonry construction. Traditionally, the term brick referred to a unit composed
of clay, but it is now used to denote any rectangular units laid in mortar. A brick canbe
composed of clay-bearing soil, sand, and lime, or concrete materials. Bricks are
produced in numerous classes, types, materials, and sizes which vary with region and
time period, and are produced in bulk quantities. Two basic categories of bricks
are fired and non-fired bricks.
3. Mining plan including progressive mine closure plan in respect of bricks soil mining in
Mouza - Tetebanda Rampur is Prepared under Rule 34 C (1) Of JMMC (A) R 2014.
4. While preparing the mining plan proper attention has been taken to ensure that the
relevant provisions under MMDR Act-1957, MMR-1961, and Mines Act-1952, Mines
Rules 1955, JMMCR 2004 & JMMC (A) R 2014, MCDR, 1988 are followed. All safety
measures provided in the statue has been taken into consideration.
5. Required numbers of personnel will be appointed for exercising control, direction and
supervision of safe working.
6. For baseline, data assistance has been taken from the data, available from local
authorities.

the vicinity of the area on scale of 1: 50,000 (Plate -1).The area is marked on the cadastral map of the concerned area on a scale of 1:3960 or
16" = 1 mile (Plate no 2).Accessibility: The applied is snuateo near about 7 km (aerial distance) away from Muri
Railway station. Nearest Highway, Gola Road is near about 2 Km (aerial distance) away
from applied area. Nearest Airport is at Ranchi about 53 Km away from the applied area.
Availability of water, power, medical & educational facilities: - Subarbarekha River
is situated near about 1 Km away from the area. The area is having a dispensary and

CHAPTER - IllGEOLOGY AND EXPLORATION
3.1 Topography:-The applied area represents almost flat land. The highest and lowest contour is found
within the applied area is 278m & 277m respectively from Mean Sea Level.
3.2 Regional Geology:The transitional topography, either between mountains and plains or between plateaus and
plains, is known as hill lands. Under this category, regions come as widely divergent as high
plains on the one hand and Icy Mountains on the other. The chief characteristics that mark
them out are the following:1. Their slope is considerable and much of the land is dissected.
2. The local relief is between 500 and 2000 feet above the sea level.
3. The uplands do not have a very much extensive summit area.
The hills of Chhotanagpur are generally small isolated residual hills. In the landscape of
Chhotanagpur, convex and extremely rounded dome-gneiss can be seen frequently. In
Ranchi city hills (residual) are generally steep sided made of massive granite-gneiss

3.3 Local Geology:A contour plan having 1m interval has been prepared, showing the relative elevation and
depression from ground level. In this way a geological map is prepared (Plate No.4).

3.1 Briefly Description of Prospecting I Exploration Work Done to Date:The area has been explored by the applicant with surface exposure as well as quarry
openings of nearby lease hold area. Mines Surveyor and Geologist, being assigned
by the applicant, visited the area and conducted survey and reconnaissance survey of
the area. The area was contoured by Total Station survey instrument coupled with
GPS. Since, this is a Brick soil.3.2 Briefly Description of Year Wise Proposed Exploration: -As it is very small scale
mining (Bricks Soil) so every year exploration is not required.

4.4 Feasibility study based on the geographical conditions and operating conditions:
Infrastructure: Road and railways are near to the working site. Manpower is cheaply
availableGeology: Geologically the area is potential and the deposit with grade as per
requirement by the consuming party.
Legal matters: Applied Lease area is valid as per the rule of J.M.M.C.R. 2004/
J.M.M.C.R 2014. There will be no displacement. Land will be acquired as per the rule .
. Operating: The applicant has all the mining equipments used for the scientific mining.
The mine is eco-friendly.Economically the soil is mineable. The soil is also economically viable for its consuming
party.Thus the economic, feasible and geology axis are categorized as - 1.
Thus the entire mineable reserve as estimated is categorized as 111.
Feasibility study of the deposit is yet to establish. So, it is categorized as -2Geologically the area is potential but the deposit in the depth is yet to establish with
grade as per the requirement by the captive plant and it is categorized as -2.

CHAPTER- IVRESERVE
4.1 Method of Estimation of Reserves:
Surface Area Depth Method.
The surface area has been multiplied by depth of the ultimate pit limit to get the bulk
volume of the soil.
4.2 Resource & Rese.rve:-
Reserve has been estimated as proved mineable mineral reserve.
Up to an average depth of 2 (0.2 m top soil and 1.80m sub soil) meters is taken as
measured mineral resource Category divides on the basis of brick soil from the surface
exposure found in the applied area.Mineable reserve is based on the mineable part of the reserve. Mineable brick soil
reserve has been calculated from the geological reserve in the area considering the soil
which is not mineable in view of blocked zone in ML boundary and ultimate pit limit as
calculated from the Geological plan.

4.3 Anticipated life of the mine:The mineable reserve would be 16400 cum .The total Mineable brick soil produce within
five year plan period 5700 cum. The balance Mineable brick soil reserve will be 10700
cum. considering production of mineable brick soil 1140cum per annum after the plan
period the balance reserve will be mined out in 9.38 years. (Approximately 9) .Thus the

CHAPTER-VDEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION PROGRAMME
5.1 The entire area is highly potential for brick soil. The work will be started from the south-
western portion of the area and further developed and advanced towards southern-
eastern part of the area and towards depth. The height of the bench is 1m. In order to
comply with the provisions of Metalliferous Mine Regulation, 1961. Details of
advancement and formation of benches are shown in Development Plan & Sections
(Plates: 5) in the scale 1:1000.
5.2 Mining Strategy:The proposed mining will be open cast and manual using hand tools only in the aliotted
plots keeping the nearby plots unaffected. The height and width of the bench will be 1m
x 1.5m. Drilling blasting will not be done. Mining will be carried out with the man power,
small tools or aids, spades or chopping hoes, long handle tools, and shovel etc. for
carrying soil tippers will be used. During mining process as per requirement for
transportation of brick soil, tractor-trolley etc will be used.
5.3 · Production Targets:Year wise Production of brick soil from the area has been calculated surface area
method. The surface area has been multiplied by depth of the advancement working
quarry to get the bulk volume. Considering (0.230m x 0.11Omx 0.075m or 9" x 4.5" x 3")
volume of the brick block will be 0.0019m3.so approximately 526 no. of bricks block will

5.4 Bench Design and Formation:
Since the mine will be worked in open cast manual in plan period of 5 years, bench
height will be restricted to the statutory 1m due to soft soil as per the DGMS norms.
5.5 Bench Development over the plan period:
Working will be started from the south-western part and further depth. Details of
advancement and formation of benches are shown in Development Plan & Sections
(Plates: 5,) in the scale 1:1000.During this 5 years plan period working will be started from the northern part with bench
dimension of 1mx1 .5m and total production soil will be done in two benches up to RL
275m. For haulage of the soil ramp will be maintain at the quarry face. Year wise
production details calculations are given bellow:-

7.1 USE OF MINERALS:
Brick clay has become a very important mineral for the manufacturing of bricks which
contributes to the expansion of infrastructure in the society. With the increase of
urbanization the demand for Bricks is growing in infrastructure sector in our country.
Individual and private companies are increasingly demanding Brick for construction
purposes and this has immense pressure on Brick clay resources.
Bricks clay mining there is no need for mineral processing or mineral beneficiation to
upgrade the ROM Production. Here, mined out Bricks clay is directly used in making
earth bricks.

CHAPTER-XSTRATEGY FOR PROTECTION
Brief outline of the proposed strategies for protection of the following:
10.1 River Courses
Subarnarekha River is situated 1Km away from the area. The area is much above HFL and
there was no occasion of flooding in the area. From the tube well, sunk in the area, it has
been observed that the ground water table is 15-20 meter below the ground level. The
quality of the water sample from the tube will be analyzed. The proposed mining operation is
manual and does not affect any pollution at the remarkable scale.
10.2 Nalas
As it is envisaged that chance of contamination of water is very less, there is no need for
direct water pollution control measure. As the project activity is carried out on excavation plot
up to a depth of 2 m, none of the project activities will affect the nalas and in rainy season
there will be no mining activity in the area.
10.3 Water TanksThere is no surface water body or water tank in the adjoining vicinity of the excavation plot,
hence anticipated impacts are nil.
10.4 Villages I Houses I Hutments I Agricultural landHouse or hutments are away from the area and will not effect. By leaving safety barrier of the
lease area no other Agricultural land will be affected .The fertile top soil will be preserved
temporarily by dumping and then it will be spread concurrently over the excavated part of the
land after the end of each year after the lifting of brick soil and grass cultivation will be done
on it.
10.5 Important MonumentsNo such monuments are present within the 500m radius of the applied lease area.

11.3 Reasons for Closure:The reasons for closure of mining operations in relation to exhaustion of mineral, lack of
demand, uneconomic operations, natural calamity, directives from statutory organization
or court etc: At this stage it is not required.
11.4 Statutory Obligations:The applicant will be bound to implement all the legal obligations like special conditions
imposed while execution of lease deed, approval of mining plan, directives issued by the
State Government, conditions imposed by the Ministry of Environment & Forests, by
State or Central Pollution Control Board or by any other organization describing the
nature of conditions and compliance position thereof.
11.5 Review of Implementation of Mining Plan including Five Years Progressive
Closure Plan:-lndicate in detail the various proposals committed with special emphasis on the
proposals for protection of environment in the Mining Plan including five years
Progressive Closure Plan vis-a-vis their status of implementation. Highlight the areas,
which might have been contaminated by mining activities and type of contaminants that
might be found there. The reasons for deviation from the proposals if any with corrective
measures taken should also be given.

11.6 Environment:Green belt will be developed in and around the polluted site with suitable species to
combat the air pollution effectively.The choice of species will be done according to the plants growing suitable to the
environmental conditions prevailing in the area. The plantations shall be done in the
safety zone area.• The safety barrier shall be used for green belt development and shall be used for
plantation of trees so that air pollution from the mine can be arrested.
• Every year 150 nos. of plant will be planted within the safety barrier.
• For development of green belt only local species will be taken for plantation, green belt
plantation will be protected properly, will be maintained daily by watering and nursing.
Rate of survival of the sapling on this area will be examined before plantation and
suitable precaution will be taken.

Water Pollution Control Measures:1. Mining operation will be restricted to the depth of 2 m from ground level.
2. Quality of dug well to be monitored, in order to ensure the quality of water is not affected.
Air and Noise Pollution, Control Measures:1. Dust suppression measures like spraying/sprin.kling of water to keep the surface wet.
2. Overloading of the trucks/tractor trolleys will not be done.As the only impact is due to transportation of soil though village roads, emphasis will be
given on the following points.

3. Timely maintenance of vehicles and their silencers to minimize vibration and sound.
4. Minimum use of horns in the village area and silence zone (if any) as applicable.
11.7 Infrastructure:
Infrastructures are not required as it is small scale mining
11.8 Safety & Security:The size of the working benches will be maintained as per Reg. 106 of MMR, 1961 and
D.G.M.S. approved.
Disaster Management & Risk Assessment:High risk factors such as landslide, subsidence flood, fire, tailing dam failure etc are not
encountered nor anticipated during proposed 5 years plan period. As such, emergency
plan for quick evacuation, protective measures are not proposed. Also, no local habitant
exists as the working area is far away from the locality.
Care & Maintenance during Temporary Discontinuance:For proposed plan period of four years, an emergency plan for the situation of temporary
discontinuance or incomplete programme due to court order or due to statutory
requirements or any other unforeseen circumstances should include a plan indicating
measures of care, maintenances, and monitoring of status of unplanned discontinued
mining operations expected to re-open in near future. This should detail item wise status
monitoring and maintenance with periodicity and objective.
11.9 Number of Local Residents Employed in the Mine, Status of the Continuation
Family Occupation & Scope of Joining the Occupation Back:The mine has provided employment local workers mostly from the nearby villages
outside the lease area. The main occupation of their family is farming. All the statutory
facilities under the mines rules are being extended to the workers. In case of final
closure, they can revert back to their family occupation along with the statutory monitory
benefits given by the management.
11.10 Time Scheduling for Abandonment:The details of time schedule of all abandonment operations as proposed should be
described here. The manpower and other resources required for completion of proposed
job should be described. The schedule of such operations should also be supplemented
by PERT (Programme Evaluation & Review Technique), bar chart etc.

11.13 Certificate:
The above-mentioned a sections have been taken to be stated clearly in the mine
closure plan. A certificate duly signed by the applicant to the effect that said closure plan
complies all statutory rules, regulations, orders made by the Central or State
Government, statutory organizations, court etc, have been taken into consideration and
wherever any specific permission is required the applicant will approach the concerned
authorities. The applicant should also give an undertaking to the effect that all the
measures proposed in the closure plan will be implemented in a time bound manner as
proposed.
The above certificates are enclosed at the beginning of the mining plan.
11.14 Plans, sections etc:
The chapters at 3-8 should be supported with Plans & Sections. The Closure Plan may
also be submitted depicting photographs, satellite images on compact disc etc. wherever
