What is the Jubilee Year of Mercy?

In the Bull of Indiction, Miseri-cordiae vultus, Pope Francis announced that the Jubilee of Mercy would begin on December 8, 2015, Feast of the Solemnity of the Immacu-late Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and conclude on November 20, 2016, the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. December 8, 2015 also marked the fiftieth anniversary of the closing of the Second

Vatican Council whose goal was to bring the love of God to the mod-ern world. Pope Francis hopes that this Jubilee celebration of mercy will be lived out in the daily lives of the faithful, and all who turn to God for compassionate love and mercy.

around the parishMercy Reigns Our Lenten parish Mission Mercy Reigns took place over two evenings on March 9 & 10. The Mission was led by Jeanne Hunt, Mary Malloy and the musical group Miriam (a group of seven women who share their faith in song). The reflections gave those who attended much food for thought as the Year of Mercy continues.

Have a safe and blessed Summer!

If you find yourself happily traveling out of town this sum-mer, be sure to check on local Catholic Mass times. A great site to visit is www.masstimes.org. The site pro-vides worship times, church locations, contact information, website links and maps. There are mass times for 117,000 churches in 201 countries/territories.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATIONSPEND QUIET TIME WITH OUR LORD NEXT EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: SATURDAY, APRIL 30 IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE 8:00 AM MASS WITH BENEDICTION AT 1:00 PM

Queen of the MayTraditionally May is the month when we show special honor to our Blessed Mother Mary. How will you show your devotion to the Queen of the May? Consider praying the rosary daily during the month of May. Do you have an outdoor Mary statue? Try planting a Mary garden.

Easter Dinner for the needy Thanks to everyone who par-ticipated in the Easter dinner food collection by filling a grocery bag with suggested food items. The response from parishioners was, as usual, wonderful. Our local St. Vincent De Paul Society and Valley Interfaith Food & Clothing were happy to pass these specially decorated bags of food on to needy families.

Unsung Heroes and Heroines We have many parishioners who quietly go about their days visiting and offering help to others in the parish. God bless them one and all.
