MEL (notso) MONTHLY ISSUE NO. 104 November, 2012 Talking to the Wall By Al Zimbler Mr. and Mrs. Stein, I am here to ask you Yes, that is correct. Permission to marry your daughter Why are you looking at me with that grin and not answering my question You want to know more about me? That’s true that is not a large amount of money but I hope to make much more in the future Yes, there is no doubt in my mind that I can afford your daughter Rose You thought I was going to ask permission to marry Jean, your other daughter? Yes I know I dated both of them, but I want to marry Rose You are surprised by my decision You want to know what I see in Rose that I didn’t see in Jean? You’re right, they are both tall and good looking but not being a Mormon I can only marry one of them and I want it to be Rose Yes, Mrs. Stein I am sure No Mr. Stein I am not interested in working for you Yes, I know that your company is the largest wholesaler of electrical supplies in the entire world but that is not how I want to spend my time and Rose’s time for the rest of our lives You say that doesn’t make sense Yes I know I am turning down a wonderful opportunity but I hope to be a highly successful author and publish many books in the future Yes, if I can do that, Rose and I will have plenty of money Oh, you want to know what I have written? You say you have never heard of those books and that you read the New York Times book sections and you are in many book clubs and yet no one you know has heard of me Sorry, I am not there yet but I am on Amazon and if you have a computer you can buy my book or order it on Kindle You say you are not computer savvy and it’s your son who is now running your electrical business and he is the computer whiz You tell me that if I joined your company I would have to work for and with your son as you spend most of your time at the club playing golf or in residence in your Florida condo?
