How SCE is Using SAP to Align to Industry Changes
The Utility industry is facing change and affordability pressures and SCE is in pursuit of operational excellence There is significant cost pressure as distributed generation costs decrease
SCE is building system capabilities to meet changing regulations
SCE is leveraging SAP for integration with acquisitions of new entities
SCE will be leveraging SAP to electronically transmit inventory and demand forecast information to
vendors as part of an integrated Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) solution
We have embarked on a simplification and standardization effort leveraging SAP out-of-the-box functionality Standardizing resource and capacity planning
Re-evaluating asset visibility and accounting for Labor, Materials, Contract, & Other (LMCO)
Expanded use of our available SAP functionality
Standardizing integration with commercial off the shelf (COTS) tools & applications
Safe, Reliable, Affordable Electricity
Slide 12
SCE enabled sophisticated Procure to Pay (P2P) models using SAP solutions This created a level of maturity between SCE and its major vendors not just for sourcing,
purchasing (PO), invoicing and payment, but also pre-PO work accounting for 2.5 billion of annual SCE spend resulting in significant savings annually
Now with Ariba on our road map we are targeting P2P maturity across the entire 4.5 billion annual SCE spend.
With Ariba being a networked service across multiple industries, we are looking to co-innovate with Ariba on some of the solutions we have in place for pre-Purchase Order work which would provide benefits to SCE and other companies using Ariba, regardless of industry
Enhanced reporting capabilities improve business agility SCE enabled SAP’s HANA in-memory technology to address requirements for large data
volume and faster performance for analytics and reporting
SCE is leveraging the suite of Business Objects tools to provide capabilities for data exploration, analytics and visualization, enabling timely insights for business decision making

o Since 1982, more than 200,000 income-qualified customers have received utility bill payment assistance through EAF
The Neighbor to Neighbor fund, San Diego Gas & Electric’s (SDG&E) charity organization, helps those facing financial hardship like unexpected job loss or illness with assistance in paying their utility bill
Since 1983, the program has given nearly $1 million to thousands of customers who struggle to make ends meet
Representatives from both charities will be accepting donations throughout the conference
